Chapter 314 The Serpent Queen's Dilemma (Part 7)

Xiang Wan was awakened by a slight tingling sensation as her arm was gently touched. Opening her eyes, she saw a huge head swaying in front of her.

Fortunately, the snake had moved its head away before she fully regained consciousness. Xiang Wan thought to herself, "That was close! When I opened my eyes and saw a huge snake head, I almost couldn't help but slap it again."

She sat up and the snake used its head to push a red fruit toward her.

Xiang Wan couldn't resist the urge and touched the snake's head directly.

The snake froze, and so did she. The snake's body trembled, tensing up before relaxing. Xiang Wan silently watched the snake's reaction, her hand remaining firmly in place.

To be honest, she was increasingly feeling like she had a pet, and she wanted to see how the snake would react. It acquiesced, and Xiang Wan secretly breathed a sigh of relief, a feeling of smug satisfaction rising within her. This snake was so obedient and intelligent; even without a mission, she probably wouldn't want anyone to harm it.

After stroking the snake's head thoroughly, Xiang Wan picked up the fruit, got up, went to the water's edge, cleaned her face, washed the fruit, and ate it.

This fruit seemed to have a magical power. After she ate it, she felt energetic all over, and the flow of vital energy in her body seemed to be much smoother.

Seeing the snake still staring at her longingly, Xiang Wan clapped her hands and smiled, "Thank you. Now, I'll prepare breakfast for you."

The lizard was on the shore. This time, Xiang Wan used scales to cut off two more legs, removed the outer skin, and picked out the meat, letting the snake swallow it.

Yesterday, she was so focused on the snake's tender meat that she forgot to just skin it. But thinking about the snakes in the animal world who spit out bones after digesting their flesh, Xiang Wan couldn't accept this big snake spitting out bones in front of her. She had a feeling that if she dared to feed the snake bones to its mouth, it would definitely spit out the bones, which it had digested, onto her.

Given the snake's vindictive nature yesterday, Xiang Wan absolutely did not want to take the risk again, so she resigned herself to her fate, prepared the lizard meat, and piled it aside.

With all four legs cut off, Xiang Wan didn't want to cut directly from the lizard's back; the skin was old, ugly, and tough. It would be more practical to gut it.

Xiang Wan washed her hands and scales clean by the pool and said to the snake, "Snake, snake, how can you eat so much? Turn the lizard over, and I'll cut you some easily digestible parts. I guarantee you can eat your fill, how about it?"

The snake nodded, crawled directly to the lizard's side, and with a twist of its body, flipped the lizard over completely.

The lizard's fair belly was covered in scratches and bite marks, a testament to the intensity of their battle. Xiang Wan ignored these marks, using her scales to slice open the lizard's belly, lifting a corner so the snake could bite and tear it apart. She then used her scales to repeatedly sever the fascia sections that were difficult to tear. Their actions, like lifting a lid, exposed the lizard's entire internal organs.

Despite their menacing appearance, lizards are just like any other animal inside – tender and fresh in every way.

As Xiang Wan was concentrating on cutting out the entrails, she saw the snake plunge its head into the lizard's chest. When it looked up again, blood dripped from its mouth.

It nudged its head toward Xiang Wan, but Xiang Wan turned her head away in disgust and pushed it aside, saying, "Get out of here, you smell awful. Wash yourself before you come back."

The snake obediently swam around in the water, then came back to Xiang Wan, lifted her hand with its head, and spat a bead into her palm.

After spitting it out, the snake retreated a foot, wiped the saliva off the bead with its tongue, and then looked at Xiang Wan.

A smooth, white bead, about half the size of a palm, surrounded by wisps of cold air and emitting a faint glow, looked exactly like an animal's inner core.

Xiang Wan stared at the snake with her mouth agape in surprise. The snake nodded at her, as if to say that it was a gift for her.

In this world, animals actually have inner cores? Do snakes have them too?

Thinking of this, Xiang Wan glanced at the snake's lower abdomen and saw the snake suddenly shrink back, looking at her warily.

Xiang Wan felt embarrassed and quickly looked away. She was definitely just reacting instinctively. Why was she being so sensitive?

Holding the bead, Xiang Wan looked it over from side to side before extending her hand toward the snake, saying with a pained expression, "Hey, this is your spoils of war, I can't take it."

The inner core of such a large animal is definitely valuable. Even if Xiang Wan didn't know what it could do, she understood that it must be very important to a snake, an animal that needs to transform. She could only sell it for a little money; it would be better to give it to the snake, perhaps allowing it to transform immediately.

Although we didn't see how the snake transformed, it must have been in great pain, otherwise it wouldn't have been lying in front of the original owner covered in wounds.

The snake shook its head, unmoved. Xiang Wan spoke again, "Didn't you want to become a spirit? Maybe it would be useful to you, but for me, it's a complete waste."

The snake stretched its head out, and just when Xiang Wan thought it was going to take the bead back, it pushed it back with its head, then nodded at Xiang Wan, its vertical pupils widening slightly, with a faint smile on its face.

Xiang Wan couldn't resist touching it again, so she stroked its chin a few times and gently scratched it. Seeing the snake's big eyes open and then slightly narrowed, she knew that it liked Xiang Wan touching it like that.

Damn, how can this snake be so docile and even try to please people? Xiang Wan liked it more and more as she looked at it. Before she knew it, she moved her face close to its head and rubbed it against it.

Oh well, she couldn't refuse such kindness, so she accepted the beads. After all, raising it might cost a lot of money in the future, so she figured she might as well save up for its food.

At this moment, Xiang Wan had made up her mind. If she were to return to the Ye family to take revenge on Ye Zhi Qiu and Zeng Yi, taking this snake with her wouldn't be out of the question. As long as it could transform into human form as soon as possible and stay by her side, she was certain she could protect it.
