Chapter 490 Taboo (Part Twelve)

The phone rang, and Xiang Wan got up, making an excuse to go to the bathroom, and answered the call while she was at it.

"Lou Xiangwan, come out!"

The familiar voice, the familiar tone—Xiang Wan really didn't go out.

"Come in if you dare. I'm working and can't leave."

"you--"

"Lou Junxuan, there's nothing more to say between us. If you want me to lose this job, I will never forgive you."

After hanging up the phone decisively, Xiang Wan found the innermost stall, stuffed her belongings into the hidden spot under the toilet seat, stayed there for a while, and then rushed out of the toilet.

Outside, Owen's eyes remained fixed on Cui Shiwan's face. He took out a cigar, lit it, took a puff, and said, "This should be our second meeting, right? If it weren't for Old Man Cui's sake, would a little girl like you even dare to dream of getting involved with me?"

The lighter was tossed aside, slid a short distance on the coffee table, and was about to fall to the ground when Cui Shiwan reached out and caught it.

The warmth was still there; though not scalding, it still made Cui Shiwan feel somewhat uncomfortable.

She offered the lighter with both hands, a glint of madness in her eyes. "This time is different. Please, you must help me, no matter the cost."

"Just for this kid?"

"I will make sure he never rises again!"

Irving exhaled a smoke ring, but did not immediately agree.

Cui Shiwan took something out of her bag, handed it to Owen, and said in a low voice, "It's just a small token of my appreciation."

Irving looked at the object but didn't take it. Instead, he asked, "Does he have a grudge against you? He's looking for me, surely it's not just because of his background?"

"I have my own unavoidable difficulties."

"I told you, I'll make a decision when the detailed investigation report arrives. Also, don't contact me too often until you're 100% certain."

"good."

Owen took the things from Cui Shiwan's hands and put them in his pocket. "Same as always, a meeting fee."

Cui Shiwan felt a pang of regret; it was a Maserati, her favorite model, which she had given away as a gift upon first meeting. However, thinking about the future, Cui Shiwan felt relieved.

Compared to the wealth she was about to acquire, this was nothing. What she needed to do was to ensure that she remained completely untainted and had no involvement whatsoever in the whole affair.

At the entrance, a burly man covered in tattoos stared intently at Lou Junxuan. Even when Lou Junxuan was tempted with money, he remained unmoved and instead placed Lou Junxuan as his primary subject of observation.

There's a reason why underground bars can operate for so long. They need connections in both legitimate and illegitimate circles, and these connections have to be acquaintances. They absolutely won't let in strangers unless they're accompanied by regulars.

When Xiang Wan came out of the bathroom and bent down to wash her hands, she looked up and saw a pair of familiar eyes staring at her from the mirror, expressionless.

After a brief moment of surprise, Xiang Wan focused on washing her hands, then slowly and meticulously dried each finger. She turned to Lou Junxuan and smiled, "You really are like a persistent ghost, always here. So, what do you want?"

Lou Junxuan grabbed Xiang Wan's arm, trying to pull her to the side, but Xiang Wan didn't move.

Caught off guard, he pulled her along, which meant Xiang Wan wasn't prepared. Now that he was right in front of her, and she was still being dragged away, it could only mean that she was willingly being pulled away.

She's a man now, not so frail.

If she doesn't want to leave, can Lou Junxuan just carry her away?

"Get to the point if you have something to say, otherwise I'm leaving."

Lou Junxuan looked around, then pushed Xiang Wan against the wall and asked in a low voice, "Do you know who the woman who brought you in is?"

"I know, he's your suitor."

Lou Junxuan was immediately speechless. How could he not know that the heiress of the Cui Group was his suitor?

Seeing Xiang Wan's nonchalant attitude, Lou Junxuan was a little angry and growled, "Knowing who she is, why are you still getting involved with her?"

Xiang Wan reached out and pushed the person away a little, asking in return, "You know who I am, so why are you still bothering me? Is this interesting?"

Lou Junxuan grabbed the wrist that was close to his face and warned, "There are interests involved and calculations at play between the two groups. I don't want you to become a pawn in her hands and then turn around and use it to control me. The waters here are too deep. One wrong step and you could be doomed. Can't you listen to my advice?"

Xiang Wan raised her wrist, glanced at her watch, and said bluntly, "I've been out for quite a while, I have to go now. Excuse me, are you finished? It's my working hours now."

Seeing that the other party did not answer, Xiang Wan couldn't help but ask curiously, "The thugs at the door are so fierce, how did you get in?"

Lou Junxuan stepped back, straightened his clothes, and smirked, "Guess!"

I hate this tone the most; the words are already on the tip of their tongue, but they just won't say them.

Don't assume that just because Lou Junxuan didn't say anything, Xiang Wan didn't know that he had called Cui Shiwan and threatened her to bring him in.

In terms of cunning, Xiang Wan doesn't consider herself to be on the same level as Lou Junxuan.

The two of them left the restroom one after the other and walked towards Cui Shiwan's area.

The people who came out from behind looked at their backs with a meaningful glint in their eyes.

"Sorry to keep you waiting."

Xiang Wan glanced around and decided to sit back down next to Cui Shiwan.

Her work hours haven't started yet.

"Miss Cui, would you mind if I shared a table with you?"

Without saying a word, Lou Junxuan sat down next to Xiang Wan.

Cui Shiwan waved her hand, looking very familiar with the situation.

Irving got up immediately and left, making an excuse that he had something to do.

The scene was slightly awkward.

Xiang Wan didn't speak to Lou Junxuan at all. This guy was quite good at entertaining himself. He ordered a table full of food, a lot of fruit and snacks, and bread, making Xiang Wan wonder if she was in a McDonald's instead of a bar.
