Chapter 569 The Tribulations of the Mortal World (18)

Bound here is Yue Manan, the old king of Nan Yue Kingdom.

Decades ago, Yue Manan's skill had already reached the Grandmaster level. After retiring, he announced that he would go into seclusion. It has been more than ten years since he last appeared in public, and now we see him here in this situation, which makes one think deeply.

Using her spiritual sense to check on Yue Manan's condition, Xiang Wan skillfully untied the iron chains binding his collarbone and then used her internal energy to heal him.

Yue Manan's breathing gradually became steady. She opened her eyes, and her shrewd and reserved eyes shone brightly in the soft light.

"Young man, who sent you?"

Yue Manan's voice was a little hoarse, obviously due to dehydration.

Xiang Wan helped him sit up, put her hands together in a gesture of respect, and said, "Amitabha, all of this is the Buddha's arrangement."

Shui Yuntian was utterly at a loss for words with the monk; he had not only deceived him, but he had also misled the old king.

“When did Nanyue Temple get a monk like you?” Yue Manan slowly crossed his legs and began to regulate his breathing. “However, if it were that monk Cixin, it might be possible.”

Xiang Wan nodded and said, "My master is indeed Master Cixin."

Yue Manan nodded slightly, saw Shui Yuntian, and asked, "He, you took him in?"

“Amitabha, kill the leader of the Heavenly Gate Sect.”

That was the truth; Shui Yuntian rarely agreed with Xiang Wan's introduction. However, Yue Manan clearly misunderstood.

"Tianmen Sect? It wouldn't be a problem if it were brought under the name of Nanyue Temple."

Xiang Wan didn't offer any explanation, and Shui Yuntian couldn't explain even if he wanted to. In short, his sect was categorized as belonging to the Buddhist order; where could he possibly seek justice?

"Little monk..."

"This humble monk is Kong."

"Little monk Liaokong, how did you find this place?"

Xiang Wan decided not to correct Yue Manan's habit of calling her "little monk." In his eyes, she was probably no different from a baby.

"It was a coincidence, a lucky accident. In retrospect, it was all thanks to Liao Liao's kick."

"foot?"

In the dim light, Yue Manan looked up at Shui Yuntian's feet. But he was destined to be disappointed; Shui Yuntian was motionless there, and he couldn't see anything.

Shui Yuntian was almost in tears. It turned out that the monk tricked him into kicking him just to make his presence known in front of the old king. He didn't want to at all!

"Why is the old king imprisoned here?"

Through the system, Xiang Wan already knew that Yue Manan was in the secret chamber of Purgatory, but it would seem too strange for her not to ask anything. Sometimes, it's necessary to maintain appearances.

"Alas, I was careless for a moment. It's a long story, so let's not go into it."

"Now, can you move around? I'm worried that making too much noise will attract the jailers."

"Hmph, that heartless bastard. You all, come with me."

As she spoke, Yue Manan got up, got out of bed, and lifted a panel, revealing a hole just big enough for one person to pass through.

"Your Majesty, what is this...?"

"Outside the cave entrance is a natural cave. If you want to escape, this is the best route."

"Old King, let's go together..."

"No, after you leave, find a way to contact General Congyan, the Protector of the Nation, and give him this item. He will then know what to do."

An inconspicuous object, neither stone nor jade, was placed in Xiang Wan's hand, and it seemed to have a somewhat indescribable flavor on it.

Thinking of a certain possibility, Xiang Wan quickly wrapped it with her sleeve, making it look like she was treasuring it, and tucked it into her sleeve.

"Old King, it must have been more than ten years since you last met, right? General Congyan may not have escaped the ravages of time either."

Gently remind him so he can be mentally prepared. What if he's too old and can't move around anymore? Wouldn't all our efforts be wasted?

Yue Manan clearly hadn't expected Xiang Wanhui to say that, and his lips twitched. He said irritably, "Little monk, don't underestimate me. Ten years isn't enough time for a thirty-year-old to be buried."

Well, even when doing things for him, she still had to be mindful of his mood. Xiang Wan awkwardly touched her nose. It seemed like none of this concerned her, right?

Seeing his hesitation, Yue Manan spoke again: "Little monk, if you accomplish this, I will grant you one request, how about it?"

How could I possibly accept this?

Xiang Wan hurriedly bowed and thanked them, her movements so swift and efficient that even Shui Yuntian, the third party in the relationship, felt a little embarrassed for her.

In this country, the monk is probably the only one who dares to ask the old king for benefits.

Yue Manan nodded in satisfaction, placing even more trust in Xiang Wan.

In his eyes, if Xiang Wan agreed to do things for him without asking for anything in return, it would seem more like she was sent by that treacherous person.

Without further ado, he urged Xiang Wan and Shui Yuntian to set off immediately. Xiang Wan released Shui Yuntian's pressure points and, supporting him, stuffed him into the cave entrance.

The monk knew he had injured his foot, yet he didn't even try to be gentle. Did he even consider him one of their own?

Just as they were about to leave the secret room, Shui Yuntian turned back to Yue Manan and said, "Old King, the Tianmen Sect is not affiliated with the Nanyue Temple, and I am not a disciple of any monk."

Yue Manan glanced at Xiang Wan, her eyes seeming to say, "You've taken on such a disobedient disciple; you'll have a lot to teach her."

Xiang Wan remained noncommittal. They were about to leave anyway, so she let Shui Yuntian have his fun to prevent him from harboring resentment and causing any more trouble.

Shui Yuntian, who felt he had embarrassed Xiang Wan, would probably be furious if he knew what Yue Manan was thinking. However, with Xiang Wan entering the cave, Shui Yuntian was destined not to see the opposite effect of his words.
