Chapter 611 The Sea Monster Alliance (XIV)

"Bah! If our entire race is wiped out, what am I, this dragon?"

Hailong's voice made Xiang Wan's head throb, but it also eased her pain.

The ankles are the only part of the legs that haven't fully changed yet; we'll have to wait a little longer.

"Fewer and fewer of our aquatic members are able to grow up. Land creatures frequently come to fish for us, intentionally or unintentionally severing our lineage. If we continue to fight among ourselves, I'm afraid we'll only end up benefiting them."

Xiang Wan was somewhat surprised by the siren's long speech, but she eventually realized that he was stalling for time for her.

Sure enough, the sea dragon immediately became agitated upon hearing about land creatures and roared, "If they dare to come, I will make them all my meal!"

"And then?" the Siren pressed.

"What do you mean, 'then'? I'll eat as many as you come. Those little bugs are nothing to me."

"Then, they multiply on land, letting their descendants continue to swim in the sea, cutting off our descendants' path to survival. They come and go as they please, while we can only stay in this sea, at their mercy. When you and I grow old, what will happen to our next generation, and the generation after that?"

Hailong was stunned, unsure of what to say for a moment, and irritably dug the mud out of his feet.

It was a sea dragon, once a cub among the sea dragons. As it grew from a cub to an adult, it witnessed countless of its kind being caught, hunted, and devoured, until only it remained, lonely and helpless.

Despite its enormous size, which causes many fish to flee at the sight of it, it is also afraid—afraid of dying alone, afraid that this boundless sea will never again bear the traces of a dragon's existence.

So it spends most of its time sleeping, and can only reunite with its kind in its dreams.

If it hadn't been for a sudden whim today, hearing the sound of the conch shell and smelling the stench of blood, it wouldn't have come here.

Even a tiny mermaid knows to plan for the future. As a member of the sea, why should it waste its time and let those land insects do whatever they want?

Having figured all this out, the sea dragon quieted down. It wanted to see what else the mermaid could say.

"Therefore, our guardian spirit will ensure that land creatures will never again dare to harm any aquatic creatures in the sea."
