“Your Highness, Philoc has already found out that we sent Sophia to gather information. That hunter, if left here, will likely bring trouble.”
Simon presented Audra with a sheet of paper covered in writing, offering a cautious reminder.
As the prince's chief bodyguard, he was adept at reading people and could offer the most appropriate advice immediately. This was because he was not only responsible for Audra's safety, but also, though not always necessary, he would gather and filter various intelligence reports before summarizing and reporting them to Audra.
Simon is a vampire known for his speed, which sets him apart from the many servants, demonstrating his exceptional strength. Audra employs him because he is quick-witted and loyal.
Audra is very good at choosing people; everyone around him is extremely handsome, while age and ability are secondary.
In Audra's words, the unattractive people around him directly affected his mood, leading to unnecessary killing. Just like his own standards, his hair was always meticulously combed, his clothes exquisite, and his jewelry dazzling. Wherever he went, he was a shining star in everyone's eyes.
A powerful and handsome vampire like Audra is secretly loved by many female vampires, and even human women. They dare not openly express their love, because Audra has a habit: any woman who expresses her love to him will not live to see the next sunrise.
Arthur once joked that he was an iceberg sculpture, uninterested in women, only fit to be hung on the wall for worship. Audra said that those who couldn't withstand the power of his finger were all disgusting insects, which would only fuel his bloodlust and tarnish his appearance.
Everyone loves beauty, but to love beauty to the extent of Audra, and to be so picky, is probably unique in the world.
Anyone he disapproved of would generally never appear before him again. Therefore, Simon was somewhat worried that Audra might attract unnecessary trouble because of Xiang Wan's face.
Audra picked up the glass, gently sniffed the thick liquid inside, swirled it from side to side, tilted his head back and took a small sip until all the liquid was in his mouth, lingered between his lips and teeth for a moment, and then slowly swallowed it.
After finishing the cup of blood, Audra's lips were stained with a layer of crimson, which, in the candlelight, appeared almost black, adding an extreme allure.
Audra was extremely handsome, with a chiseled face. The most unforgettable features were his eyes, which seemed affectionate but were actually extremely indifferent, and his perfectly thin lips.
Loose blond hair slipped from his shoulders, cascading down with the slight movement of his Adam's apple. His elegant figure, holding a glass, swayed in the candlelight, his slender fingers lightly tapping the glass. The look of pure enjoyment on his face suggested that what he had just tasted was not thick blood, but a succulent nectar that lingered in the mouth, making those who watched him swallow hard.
After Simon finished speaking, he was so engrossed in Audra's actions that he forgot what he was supposed to do next.
Audra finished his cup of blood, put it down, and used his tongue to wipe the residue from his lips. Then he took out a clean white handkerchief, wiped his fingers clean, threw it aside, and said with a tilt of his head, "Life is too boring. Just playing around."
Simon snapped out of his daze, his infatuation and embarrassment vanishing, and said seriously, "I've already sent people to investigate. He's nothing but a useless piece of trash. Apart from his good looks, he has no skills whatsoever. He's just an insignificant graduate from a family of hunters. Even if we kill him, it won't attract anyone's attention. Let's just mark him as a blood slave."
Audra didn't speak, his eyes fixed on Simon, not looking away for five, ten, or fifteen seconds.
Simon's forehead was covered in sweat, which he dared not wipe away. Under Audra's gaze, he lowered his head, knelt on one knee, and said in fear, "Your Highness, I have overstepped my bounds. Please punish me."
This wasn't the first time Simon had felt Audra's oppressive aura, and he started sweating profusely.
He had made this suggestion many times before; in fact, most of the blood slaves currently kept in the palace were captured by his men and brought to the prince's attention as blood slaves. Usually, at this time, the prince would simply give him a look and let him handle it, but now, he was unsure what the prince meant.
He wasn't present when that useless hunter was captured, but he heard about it. The man was clearly a fraud, yet the prince spared his life; he couldn't quite figure out what the prince's intentions were.
Thinking about it carefully, it seemed he had never truly understood the prince's intentions. His previous laissez-faire attitude was simply because the prince found it troublesome and didn't want to get involved.
The more Simon thought about it, the more uneasy he became, and the more dissatisfied he was with Xiang Wan.
Every official on duty in the Prince's Palace regarded the Prince as their lord. They would not tolerate anything that might attract the Prince's attention. The Prince belonged to everyone!
Simon lowered his head even further, while Audra smiled, though the smile didn't reach his eyes.
“Sophia is dead, and her position needs to be filled.”
What? Simon could hardly believe his ears.
Hiring a vampire hunter as a spy? Is the prince joking?
Simon looked up abruptly, only catching a glimpse of Audra's disappearing afterimage before he was left alone in the empty hall, stunned and speechless.
On the ground floor of the main hall, Xiang Wan had just emerged from behind a hidden stone door when the passage behind her vanished without a sound. Two swift figures surrounded her from the left and right, moving silently in the night.
Xiang Wan bent down on the spot and quickly rolled towards the feet of one of them, while simultaneously shooting out the ice needles from her fingertips.
These two vampires were also servants. One of them was extremely strong, and when he punched Xiang Wan in the side, the floor tiles cracked.
