Beneath the ancient castle, Xiang Wan led the hunters to clear the area one by one.
Filok's castle has been visited by countless hunters, but none have found any important vampire members, not even a trace of Filok himself.
Xiang Wan deliberately chose to enter during the day to investigate these hidden underground chambers. Like a cunning rabbit with multiple burrows, Philoc was no exception.
Of all these princes, Philoc was the most cruel in his treatment of humans, and his special abilities were the most difficult for the hunters to deal with.
He can become invisible, use sound to confuse enemies, and his body can disintegrate into bats at any time, making it impossible to know where his weak points are.
Over the past decade, Smith and his elite hunters have slain many elders, causing Arthur to fall into a deep slumber. Audra's spatial abilities make him elusive, while Kendrode has remained hidden. Kendrode wouldn't have brought Susan here if the hunters hadn't stopped searching Philoc's castle long ago, seemingly giving up.
Xiang Wan was willing to believe that a vampire who would risk his life for love would live in seclusion for Susan. So she took her blood-stained clothes and told everyone that she had killed both Susan and Kendrode.
Philoc is still killing and drinking blood relentlessly. For both public and private reasons, Xiang Wan must kill him and eliminate this vampire who is currently the greatest threat to humanity.
"Was it you?"
As soon as they reached the underground, a familiar voice rang in Xiang Wan's ears.
Ten years later, he finally found her.
Despite being mentally prepared for him to find her sooner or later, Xiang Wan didn't expect it to happen so quickly.
"Are you here to see Philoc? Go to the bottom floor, alone."
Now that she had encountered it, Xiang Wan decided not to run away any longer. After dismissing the hunters around her, she stepped into the darkest chamber at the bottom. That was Philoc's most secret dwelling, containing a large coffin and an atmosphere of extreme luxury.
Audra stood with his back to her beside the coffin, seemingly admiring the patterns on the wall, or perhaps lost in thought.
Upon entering the dark room, the door behind him closed automatically. Audra slowly turned around, his white hair at his temples starkly visible against the backdrop of the luminous pearl.
"For ten whole years, you've painted yourself into this grotesque state just to avoid me? What have I done to offend you that you avoid me like the plague?"
Audra was trying his best to suppress his emotions, and his steps were slow to land.
The questioning tone, as if speaking to a lover, made Xiang Wan frown. She asked herself, she had never had the slightest romantic feeling for Audra.
"It was all just wishful thinking on my part, wasn't it?"
Audra slammed his palm down on the coffin, leaving a five-finger handprint on the gold-embroidered lid.
"Odra, what do you want with me? I'm just your prisoner, a tool to be used. If I don't escape, are you going to wait until you remember me and drain me dry?" Xiang Wan said righteously.
“You know perfectly well I wouldn’t do that!” Audra said, sounding a little angry.
"I don't know! And I don't want to know."
Xiang Wan turned her head to the side; she particularly disliked dealing with such situations. Because she had no feelings for him, only a cruel rejection could put her mind at ease.
This may sound selfish, but feelings cannot be forced.
Even the person in her heart!
“You like her, you like that human woman, don’t you? I knew it, she has your scent on her, how could you resist going to her!” Audra’s hands clenched tightly, and killing intent poured out from his body.
"Odella, she's my friend!"
"I told you, only I can be by your side!"
"You're a vampire, I'm human, it's destined to be impossible!"
"You could become a vampire too!"
Audra's eyes turned bloodshot, and sharp fangs appeared instantly. He actually intended to turn Xiang Wan into a vampire, showing no rationality whatsoever.
Xiang Wan mocked herself, realizing she shouldn't have dared to hope. This kind of person was too domineering, self-centered in any world; it was laughable that she had dared to try and change him!
"Odra, if you dare to do this, may you never see me again for all eternity!"
In Xiang Wan's eyes, there was determination, persistence, and rationality, but no emotion whatsoever.
That look in his eyes was both familiar and painful, as if he had actually done such a thing to the other person before.
A tremendous sense of panic and helplessness gradually spread from the bottom of his heart, leaving Audra's heart suddenly feeling extremely empty, like a bottomless pit that could never be filled.
Fear and panic gradually welled up in his heart, but Audra eventually calmed down and looked at the person in front of him as if the other person would disappear in the blink of an eye.
"How have you been these past years?"
Xiang Wan remained silent, hiding her identity and unable to show her true face. Although she was doing alright, she was ultimately not free.
"I'm sorry." But I don't regret it!
Audra didn't say the last sentence aloud. If he hadn't sought him out, he truly didn't know what the point of living would be.
He watched helplessly as his family was shot and killed, their blood splattering on the ground. To avenge them, he chose to become a vampire, personally twisting off the heads of his enemies to appease the souls of his family.
Having taken his revenge, he didn't know what else to do; life felt meaningless. It was around that time that he met Arthur, and he voluntarily requested to become a vampire.
Many of Arthur's reasons sounded ridiculous, yet they brought him amusement. He worked his way up the ranks, eventually becoming a lord and then a prince.
He had power and status, but he had lost his passion for life. Until he met the man before him, who shamelessly claimed to have seen the sacred artifact. At that moment, for some reason, he became interested in him. He enjoyed watching his forbearance when oppressed, watching him fight his way out in various battles, watching his serious expression when lying, and watching his occasional bursts of unbelievable abilities.
