Chapter 176 The Cannon Fodder Special Police Officer's Husband-Catching Story 9

Suiyi waited for a bus at the intersection for half an hour. Since it was rush hour, the buses were mostly full.

Waiting, waiting. Suddenly, a black car burst into the room. Looking at the license plate, everyone was starting to question their existence.

"What on earth is this man up to? Is he really that kind of person to pick me up?" With a skeptical attitude, she just stood there watching the car pull up and stop in front of her.

The car window was slowly rolled down, and Lou Yan looked at her, offering her two words of condescension.

"Get in the car."

Sui Yi didn't stand on ceremony and opened the car door to get in. She was quite surprised that this man, who always acted like a big shot, would actually come to pick her up. It truly felt like the sun had risen in the west.

"Isn't that company busy today?"

The man glanced at her sideways and, unusually, answered her.

"As a boss, there is no need to do everything yourself."

Okay, let's just say the man had a mental breakdown.

As the car drove on for longer and longer, Sui Yi looked out the window, the road becoming increasingly unfamiliar. A thought crossed her mind: could it be that he used that watch to discover the original owner's true identity, and therefore wanted to take her to some remote place to secretly dispose of her?

"Um. So, where are we driving to?" Sui Yi cleared her throat and asked casually.

You'll know when you get there.

"..." Is it too late to jump out of the car now? Have I really been exposed? Damn it, this mission is extremely dangerous. And I also have to think about it—who among those in high positions doesn't have blood on their hands? Could I become one of those drops of blood?

She misses the system terribly right now. If the system were still around, she could still chat with it. Now, she can only brood over it all by herself.

Lost in thought, before she knew it, Sui Yi's entire body lurched forward due to inertia. Unfortunately, because she hadn't fastened her seatbelt when she got in the car, her face slammed into the back of the man's seat.

The man felt a slight bump on his back and twitched his eye. He turned to look at Sui Yi, who was touching her face, with a hint of helplessness. But he didn't seem to feel anything particularly strange. It was as if he was used to this kind of thing. After the helplessness, what remained in his heart was a sense of tenderness.

Suddenly bumped into, her nose stung. Tears welled in her eyes. She sniffed, thankfully her face was truly natural, not artificial, otherwise she probably wouldn't be able to bear looking at herself now.

"How can you be like this? Didn't you say anything before you were going to brake?" Seeing the man's face, which was trying not to laugh, Sui Yi couldn't help but question him.

"It's your own fault for not fastening your seatbelt, don't blame An Hao."

"Hmph!" Knowing she was in the wrong, Sui Yi rolled her eyes at the man, said nothing more, and got off the bus.

After getting off the bus, Suiyi took a good look at her surroundings. It wasn't some remote mountain forest she had imagined; it was just that the location was somewhat secluded.

"Why did you bring me here?" he asked, looking at the man getting off the car on the other side.

"Today is a gathering of my friends, and they require family members to bring their families, so you know that." The man walked up to Sui Yi with an air of superiority.

He tilted his head towards her, gesturing for her to follow him.

It turned out to be a party, but the man's identity was not simple. Could it be that the people he was partying with were all business partners, or even gang leaders?

However, this situation doesn't seem so bad. Who would expect a proper police officer to be chatting with a group of mob bosses? If they're lucky, they might even uncover some secrets. Doing so might be helpful to their mission. So, they weren't opposed to this gathering. Following the man, they walked into the private restaurant.

It's strange, really. People of status usually prefer to gather in bars or clubs. It's quite an odd idea for someone to think of a private restaurant.

Lou Yan continued walking and stopped outside a private room on the third floor. He gently pushed open the door, and inside sat about seven or eight young men and women. Unsurprisingly, all of them looked towards the door after Lou Yan opened it.

Lou Yan turned around and glanced at Sui Yi. Sui Yi consciously stepped forward, took his arm, and smiled as she looked at this group of strangers.

Sui Yi looked over and, just as she had imagined, the men and women there were dressed in a capable and decisive manner. Moreover, the aura they exuded was different from that of ordinary people; they could be considered outstanding individuals among humans, and their status was quite extraordinary.

When Lou Yan walked in, everyone stood up and looked at him with smiles.

"Oh, what a rare guest! We've invited you so many times, but you, our esteemed guest, haven't come. It seems this time, it's Yuheng's influence that's truly significant." A man in a shirt stood up and walked over.

"What are you thinking? They're newlyweds. They probably want to enjoy some time alone together. Is it really okay for us to be third wheels?"

"I disagree with what you're saying. What do you mean by 'third wheel'? Our gathering today is to celebrate that everyone in our group has finally found a partner. Although Lou Yan was the last one to do so."

"Yeah, yeah! I was already reserved by your sister-in-law three years ago. But you, Lou Yan, didn't make a move at all. I didn't expect you to be even faster than us now. You're already on the job. You've already taken down the front line. You're not far from second base, right?"

"I'm really envious."

"Alright, alright. You two should keep quiet. Otherwise, your sister-in-law will get shy, and your brother will come after you."

"Exactly. I really can't understand it. In our circle, everyone is a special person. How come we all have the same personality? We're all afraid of our wives. I wonder if our wives are fierce?" The man teased the two of them with a hint of curiosity in his eyes.

Sui Yi was completely bewildered, because she had never seen these people in the original owner's memories. Sui Yi's first thought was to look at the man and see how he would react.

To everyone's disappointment, the man didn't say a word, but pulled her along into the crowd. They found an empty seat and sat down.

“Yun’er doesn’t know you yet, so please introduce yourselves first.”

"Oh! That's true, how could I have forgotten about that? My sister-in-law only saw us on her wedding day, and then the incident happened. We didn't even have a chance to introduce ourselves." The man suddenly realized, though he already knew something about Sui Yi's background. He'd heard she was an orphan from a young age and had worked as a maid in Lou Yan's house. He wondered what kind of good fortune she had accumulated in her past lives to be able to marry him.
