Chapter 74 The Cannon Fodder Female Thief's Comeback Story 27

“…Get out!” Sui Yi glared at the system. Afterwards, Sui Yi agreed to marry Qin Xiao, and the wedding was set for October 1st. The wedding was a traditional Chinese ceremony, but Sui Yi didn't wear a veil. When Qin Xiao brought Sui Yi out, the surrounding guests exclaimed how beautiful the bride was, and how she and the groom were a match made in heaven. However, one couple was an exception.

"Zhengran, did you see that? The bride, isn't she our daughter?" the noblewoman cried to her husband beside her.

"Don't cry yet. This is a wedding; it won't look good if people see it. We'll ask after the wedding. We've been through so much together; a few hours won't make a difference." The man comforted his wife, his eyes fixed on Suiyi. After the newlyweds exchanged vows, Qin Xiao carried Suiyi back to their bridal chamber. Meanwhile, Uncle Qin and the old man greeted the guests.

The couple approached the old man. "Congratulations, Mr. Qin," Qu Zhengran said. But his wife's eyes were filled with tears.

"Why is Qingyu crying?" The old man clearly knew the woman, and they seemed to have a good relationship.

"I...I have something I'd like to discuss with the old man," said the woman, Shui Qingyu, to the old man.

"Oh! Alright! Second brother, please entertain them well, I have something to attend to here. My dear niece-in-law, come with me to the study." Old Yezi then led the two to the study.

"If there's anything I, an old man, can do, just say the word."

The woman glanced at her husband and said to the old man, "What's the bride's name? How old is she?"

"Haha! My granddaughter-in-law's name is Tao, Tao as in peach. She's twenty-two this year!"

"Then why didn't we see her family today?"

"Hey! My dear nephew's wife, what do you mean by this?"

"Grandpa, please don't misunderstand. We mean no harm. We just think the bride might be my and Qingyu's child!" Qu Zhengran said to the old man.

What evidence do you have?

“She looks nine-tenths like my mother when she was young,” Shui Qingyu said, crying.

"Now that you mention it, I do remember. You two have been searching for your daughter for so many years, and I hope you've found her too. Come over in three days, let's meet and see if it's her." The old man was truly speechless at the couple's behavior. They deserved it; they took their child out to play, were so busy dating that they lost her, and after all these years of searching, they still hadn't found her.
