Chapter 105 Seeing the World Through Ghostly Eyes (13)

Since seeing Tang Liangfeng again, although it was eventually confirmed to be an illusion, Leng Yue still realized the importance of continuing to study Taoist arts.

As before, Leng Yue resumed her routine of translating manuscripts during the day and studying in the jade slips at night. However, for some reason, Leng Yue had recently begun to feel that there was someone else in her bedroom, because every time she entered the bedroom, she felt that it was very cold and gloomy, and at the same time, she had the feeling that someone was watching her.

But when she asked Ling, Ling said no, she couldn't see it herself. Leng Yue could only comfort herself that she was just tired and was imagining things. As for feeling cold, it was probably because it was winter and her room didn't get any sunlight.

Thinking this way, Leng Yue felt slightly comforted. However, she was still worried, so she could only study even harder. Only through continuous learning could Leng Yue feel that she was becoming stronger, and only then would she have a sense of security.

"Yueyue, aren't you ready yet?" Today is January 6th, the day the whole family will see Leng Kang off. Leng's mother got up early to prepare everything and is now urging Leng Yueyue from outside the door.

"Alright, alright," Leng Yue put on her coat and prepared to leave. But after reaching the door, she turned back, hesitating for a long time. Ultimately, she packed all the talismans she had practiced in the classroom onto her person. For some reason, Leng Yue felt uneasy.

"Why are you so slow? We're going to be late!" Mrs. Leng complained unhappily, pulling Leng Yue out of the room while urging Mr. Leng, "Old man, hurry up too!"

"Look at how impatient you are, there's still plenty of time!" Dad Leng raised his hand to check his watch, and slowly put on his clothes and shoes.

"Early what? His flight is at two o'clock, he has to go to the airport early, right? Hurry up, you're the one who dawdles the most." Mrs. Leng said, buttoning up Mr. Leng's clothes.

Leng's father turned to look at Leng Yue, "Look at your mother, she's so anxious, she's exaggerated a ten-minute walk into such a big deal!"

Leng Yue smiled. "Aren't you worried at all? I think you'd rather drag it out and delay my brother so he doesn't have to go abroad!"

"You think you know everything!" Father Leng rolled his eyes at Leng Yue. "Am I that naive? If I really didn't want your brother to go abroad, wouldn't I have said so?"

"Hmph! Then say it!" Mrs. Leng tugged at Mr. Leng's collar, her face full of disdain. "You're all talk, but when it comes to actually saying it, you won't say anything! If you hadn't said we should respect Leng Kang's choice, would he have just left like that? In the end, isn't it all because you spoiled him!"

"Hey, why are you blaming me again?" Dad protested. "You didn't want to be the bad guy in the first place! Why are you blaming me now? Are you even being reasonable?"

“Reasoning, reasoning, what reasoning?” Mrs. Leng said bitterly. “If I had known, I wouldn’t have been an enlightened and reasonable mother. I should have been a bad mother. That way, at least when Leng Kang was stubborn, I could have cried, made a scene, and even threatened suicide. Maybe then Leng Kang wouldn’t have gone abroad.”

"Alright, alright, I was just saying it offhand, don't take it seriously." Mr. Leng patted Mrs. Leng's shoulder. "Let's go. When it comes to our son's future, how can we, as elders, really do something like that?"

The group left with long faces. Leng's mother whispered to Leng's father, "I don't know why, but my eyelids have been licking ever since yesterday. I really don't want Leng Kang to go abroad."

"Don't be superstitious. Your nervous system is just a bit off from insomnia these past few days. You'll be fine once you get some rest." While Mr. Leng was criticizing Mrs. Leng for being superstitious, he was actually quite worried and started thinking about how to stop Leng Kang.

Leng Yue followed behind the two, watching their backs, feeling a pang of emotion. No wonder people say that parents' hearts are always full of love and worry. As children, we never know the struggles our parents go through before reaching a "consensus" with us, even with a seemingly casual decision.

They say you can't reason with a stubborn fool, and Leng Yue couldn't understand why Leng Kang would rather live a perfectly good life than pursue that so-called dream of going abroad. After thinking it over, Leng Yue concluded that Leng Kang had lost his mind.

Leng Kang and his family of three lived in the next-door neighborhood, only a ten-minute walk apart. Leng Yue and her group quickly arrived at Leng Kang's home.

Leng Kang had already packed his luggage. When Leng Yue and the others arrived, Leng Kang was talking to Zhao Ya. Upon seeing them, Zhao Ya gave up the sofa and went to the kitchen to prepare fruit.

"How is it? Is everything packed?" Mrs. Leng asked Leng Kang.

Leng Kang nodded. "Everything is packed. Zhao Ya took the day off yesterday to help me pack it all."

"Keep your passport and everything safe, so you don't lose them later," Mrs. Leng instructed.

Leng Kang smiled and said, "Look at you, I'm not a child anymore, how could I get lost?"

“Isn’t Mom worried about you? Besides, in Mom’s heart, you’re still a child, no matter how old you are.” Mother Leng said, her voice starting to choke. “Mom is really worried about you. You’ve never suffered much growing up. If you went to a developed country, Mom would feel a little more at ease. The country you’re going to is so poor, you might not even be able to buy anything with money. How can I not worry?”

"Alright, stop crying. It's not like our son isn't coming back! Besides, he can broaden his horizons by working abroad, which is a good thing. Don't cry," Mr. Leng comforted Mrs. Leng.

Father Leng turned to Leng Kang and said, "When you're out in the world, don't make enemies. Try to be tolerant of everything. At the same time, you need to be more careful, since you're in an unfamiliar place. I know you've always been straightforward and not very tactful. That's fine at home, but now that you're so far away and we're not by your side, you have to be careful in everything you do!"

Leng Kang wanted to say something in rebuttal, but after hearing the last word, he silently nodded in agreement.

Leng's father sounded pitiful; at that moment, he actually hoped that Leng Kang would impulsively say he wouldn't go. But Leng Kang simply nodded, leaving his father momentarily disappointed.

Leng Zihao looked at the adults in the family, blinking his eyes, "Grandpa and Grandma, why are you crying? Do you not want Dad to leave?"

Leng's mother patted Leng Zihao's head, "Grandpa and Grandma are happy for your father..."

"Happy? Why are you happy?" Leng Zihao asked again.

“Because…because your father achieved his dream…” Mother Leng forced a smile.

Leng Zihao looked at Leng Kang and said, "But Grandma, why am I happy? I don't want Dad to go abroad. I can't bear to leave Dad!"

"Oh, my dear grandson, you've really suffered. You're so young and you have to experience separation!" Mother Leng hugged Leng Zihao, her face full of sorrow.

Leng Kang felt quite distressed listening to this, but he still didn't say anything about giving up on going abroad.

Leng Yue really wanted to beat Leng Kang up. The whole family was in such a state, why did he still insist on this?

After much deliberation, Leng Yue decided to use her best tactic—hypnosis. She couldn't help it; she really didn't want to go to a Southeast Asian country to do a mission.
