The relationships between people are so wonderful. Some people may never develop feelings for each other in their entire lives, while others can become close over just one meal.
Xie Juruo felt this way about Leng Yue and her brother; during a meal, the more she looked at them, the more she liked them. However, she was naturally aloof, and although she wanted to spend more time with Leng Yue and her brother, she never knew how to do it.
Later, it was Leng Yue who inquired about the tailor, which gave Xie Juruo a topic to ask about Leng Yue and her brother.
When Xie Juruo heard that Leng Yue and her brother were the only children left in Leng Yue's family, she wished she could take Leng Yue and Leng Xiaoyu home and raise them immediately. She really loved them!
However, she still chose to help Leng Yue find a tailor, as Xie Juruo wanted to slowly cultivate a relationship with them. The more time she spent with them, the more she realized that Leng Yue was a girl with her own ideas, and the less she wanted to be abrupt with them.
Xie Juru was still smiling even after personally seeing Leng Yue and her brother off.
"So happy? You did everything yourself today, are you tired?" He Cuihua greeted Xie Juruo with concern as soon as she saw her. She knew her daughter would like Leng Yue and her brother, but she didn't expect her to like them this much.
Xie Juruo's face was flushed; it was clear she was very happy today.
"Mom, thank you," Xie Juruo said, taking He Cuihua's hand. "I always felt that these two children were Miaomiao and Yuyu, they were so familiar!"
He Cuihua nodded, "Yes, that's what I thought too. It's really strange, they don't look alike at all, but once you get to know them, they seem very similar. Their tone of voice and their temperament are almost identical. Maybe it's fate!"
Xie Ju nodded weakly, "Perhaps it's God's compensation to me!"
Leng Yue had no idea what Xie Juruo and He Cuihua were thinking. Ever since she got into the car, she had been grinning from ear to ear, as if she had seen piles of money.
"Little Fish, what's wrong with your sister?" Li Guilan looked at Leng Yue's sinister smile and thought she had encountered something evil during her trip to the city.
Leng Xiaoyu shook her head, her big eyes blinking as she looked at Li Guilan. "My sister is fine."
Upon hearing this, Li Guilan thought, "Well, this younger brother is quite protective of his older sister." After thinking for a moment, Li Guilan asked Leng Xiaoyu about what they had seen and heard in the city that day.
Leng Xiaoyu recounted the story earnestly, starting from when Leng Yue bought him fruit candy, for half an hour before finally getting to the part about He Dafa causing trouble. Li Guilan felt dizzy listening to this, but her expression changed slightly when she heard that they had been bullied by He Dafa.
"Are you all alright? I hope your sister wasn't scared. Oh no, it's all my fault. What if she has a relapse?" Li Guilan stared at Leng Yue anxiously.
"Yueyue! Yueyue!" Li Guilan cried out in a panic, slapping herself in frustration. "It's all my fault. If anything happens to Yueyue again, I'd rather be dead!"
Seeing Li Guilan hit her, Leng Yue grabbed Li Guilan's hand and looked at her with a surprised expression, "Auntie, what's wrong with you?"
"I'm so sorry, it's all my fault..." Li Guilan was stunned. "Yueyue, are you alright?"
"Huh? I was perfectly fine!" Leng Yue was a little confused and looked at Leng Xiaoyu. Leng Xiaoyu was even more bewildered than her, even showing some fear; it seemed Li Guilan's behavior had frightened him.
Leng Yue reached out and patted Leng Xiaoyu's head, and Leng Xiaoyu moved closer to Leng Yue.
"Then what were you laughing at just now?" Li Guilan was still shaken, because Leng Yue had suffered from madness before, and she was really afraid.
"Auntie, I'll tell you about this when we get home." Leng Yue glanced into the car, feeling that this wasn't the place to talk.
Li Guilan nodded, relieved that Leng Yue was alright, and then asked the previous question, "What's going on with He Dafa?"
Leng Yue gave a brief explanation, mentioning a few words about He Cuihua and Xie Juruo. Li Guilan nodded repeatedly after listening, saying that there are still more good people in this world.
"Yueyue, when we have some free time, we must go and thank them." If it weren't so late, Li Guilan would have thanked them right away. Leng Yue's situation was truly special, and Li Guilan was genuinely grateful to He Cuihua.
Leng Yue nodded in agreement, "Yes, Aunt He and Sister Ju Ruo are both very kind people. We must thank them properly when we have the chance."
Leng Yue wasn't sure if it was just her imagination, but the car seemed to be going much faster on the way back than on the way there. Plus, everyone had been out all day, so they all fell asleep almost immediately after getting on the bus. She chatted with Li Guilan for a while, and soon she too started yawning. Leng Xiaoyu was already fast asleep, nestled on her lap.
When the car arrived in town, Leng Dazhu was already waiting.
Leng Yue carefully carried Leng Xiaoyu out of the car, while Li Guilan followed behind carrying a large bag of pesticide seeds.
"You're finally back! We've been waiting for you for so long." Leng Dashuan complained to Li Guilan as he took the things from her and put them in the car.
After the group got into the vehicle, the tractor started churning and puffing.
Leng Xiaoyu was very sleepy; the loud noise of the tractor didn't even wake him. He just frowned slightly, snuggled into Leng Yue's arms, and then fell into a deep sleep again.
“Little Fish is tired today.” Li Guilan said, pulling out a coat and covering Leng Xiaoyu with it. “It’s windy, cover him up so he doesn’t catch a cold.”
Leng Yue gently wrapped Leng Xiaoyu up, then looked at Li Guilan with a smile, "Auntie, you're so thoughtful."
Li Guilan looked at Leng Yue's little tiger teeth and said, "You're still a child yourself, it's really hard on you."
Leng Yue smiled and shook her head. She wasn't a child at all! If you were to calculate her age, she was probably much older than Li Guilan! It's just that she had never had a child, so even if she paid close attention to many details, there were still many things she couldn't do well.
Looking at Leng Xiaoyu's sleeping face, Leng Yue smiled again. She would have experience taking care of a child from now on! She wondered what her and Qian Chen's child would be like.
As dusk settled, the moon and stars came out. Looking at the moon on the horizon, Leng Yue felt a surge of emotions. In this era, transportation and life were inconvenient, resources were scarce, but the air was fresh. In the future, everything would be much better, but it would be difficult to see the stars again.
What is commonplace now will become rare and precious in the future. What is scarce now will become commonplace later. Time is truly a wondrous thing.
"Yueyue, what are you looking at?" Li Guilan noticed that Leng Yue kept looking at the horizon, so she looked over curiously, but she didn't see anything interesting.
"Look at the stars, Auntie, look how bright that star is!" Leng Yue pulled out a hand and quickly pointed upwards.
Li Guilan chuckled, "Yes, I've heard people say that when people die, they become stars in the sky. The greater the person, the brighter their star!"
"Huh? Is there such a saying?" Leng Yue had never heard of this saying before. She had heard of turning into stars, but she didn't know that the more important a person was, the brighter they would be.
“That’s right, there are certain meanings associated with these stars. Take this broom star, for example, it looks like a broom, and the older folks say it’s unlucky.” Li Guilan became quite animated as she spoke, launching into a long and detailed explanation.
Leng Yue didn't refute, just listened happily as if it were a story, and suddenly found it quite interesting.
