After working hard for half a month, Leng Yue's clothing store officially opened.
Leng Yue hadn't originally planned to open her own shop. She knew she didn't have enough capital, so she had initially planned to take a roundabout approach and only collaborate with tailor shops on designs.
Leng Yue had previously considered selling her designs to tailors, or negotiating a partnership with someone. She would provide the designs, help with sales, and then collect a share of the profits. After all, she didn't have much capital, and her immediate priority was to successfully earn her first pot of gold.
As it turned out, she met a benefactor on her way out. After Xie Juruo learned of her thoughts, she actually took the initiative to invest. However, she stipulated that only Leng Yue could be the boss, otherwise she would not invest any money.
Leng Yue wasn't without her concerns; Xie Juruo wouldn't be so kind to them for no reason. However, Xie Juruo voluntarily signed the contract, which even included a disclaimer. Leng Yue carefully reviewed the contract and found nothing amiss.
Finally, Xie Juruo said that all investments carry risk, but the greater the risk, the higher the potential return. Hearing this, Leng Yue stopped thinking about it and focused entirely on preparing for the new store's opening.
Leng Yue deliberately chose the seventh day of the seventh lunar month, the Qixi Festival, a traditional and romantic day.
Although it was a new store opening, they didn't make a big fuss. Only a few familiar faces attended: He Cuihua, Xie Juruo, Li Guilan, and the tailor Su Xiuxiu. Of course, Leng Xiaoyu was also present!
There weren't many people, making it a bit quiet. To liven things up, Leng Yue even set off firecrackers. Finally, Xie Juruo, the major shareholder, was invited to unveil the signboard, officially marking the opening.
"Yueyue, what name did you choose for your shop?" Li Guilan asked Leng Yue, looking at the exquisitely crafted signboard.
"Auntie, this is called Qianchen Pavilion!" Before Leng Yue could speak, Leng Xiaoyu proudly blurted out.
Leng Yue looked at Leng Xiaoyu with a smile, reached out and patted his head, her face full of satisfaction.
"Qianchen Pavilion? What does that mean?" Li Guilan asked, completely bewildered. "Look at other people's shops, they're all called Zhang San Li Si Tailor Shop, why did we come up with such a strange name?"
Leng Yue smiled and said, "Auntie, don't you think it sounds more sophisticated and classy? You see on TV, many TV shows use that kind of name, like something like 'Ge'."
Li Guilan mostly watched rural dramas about everyday life; she didn't like those flashy period dramas, finding them hard to understand. Besides, some were full of fighting and conflict, making it difficult to distinguish good from evil, so she hadn't heard of many of them. But since the children liked them, she wouldn't simply stop them.
“You kids have different tastes than we do, but as long as you’re happy,” Li Guilan said without any hesitation.
Xie Juruo, however, offered a few words of praise: "A thousand dusts, a thousand lifetimes of karmic connections, the beginning and end of fate, all return to this pavilion. Yueyue, this is a good name, I like it very much."
"I'm glad Sister Juruo likes it." Leng Yue said, and then invited everyone to go inside for a tour.
As the group entered the shop, they discovered that it was different from other tailor shops. Pushing open the door, they saw that unlike other tailor shops, the walls were covered with all kinds of fabrics, and some even had a few sample garments hanging up for customers to choose from.
Leng Yue, on the other hand, placed several plastic mannequins, each dressed in nice clothes, some for adults and some for children, making them look more three-dimensional and eye-catching.
The room on the right contains a small sofa with a coffee table in the middle. Several books, a teapot, teacups, and other items are on the coffee table, giving it the appearance of a reception room. This room is further separated by a screen; on the other side of the screen are a table and chairs with pencils, paper, and various drawing tools on them.
On one side of the room to the left, there was a shelf displaying fabrics. The quantity wasn't large, but it was quite comprehensive. Various colors and fabrics. The items were arranged neatly, one compartment at a time.
On the side by the window, there were sewing machines, overlock machines, and various tools that the craftsmen could use.
The shop wasn't big. Although Xie Juruo had invested money, it was still in its early stages, and she didn't want to make things too complicated. Therefore, the shop wasn't large. However, it gave people a sense of stability, making them believe that she wasn't someone who was ambitious or eager for quick success.
"Aunt He, Sister Ju Ruo, Aunt Gui Lan, let's sit down for a while," Leng Yue said, leading them into the reception room and pouring each of them a cup of tea.
"We don't have much to offer, just some melon seeds and fruit candies. Please don't mind." Leng Yue wanted to buy some snacks to keep on hand, but she hadn't had a chance yet.
"Yueyue has really grown up. She can greet people quite well now." Li Guilan said with emotion. Just a few days ago, she was worried that Lengyue would have a relapse, but she didn't expect that in the blink of an eye, she could stand on her own.
"Auntie, Yueyue is quite a formidable girl!" He Cuihua said with a hearty laugh.
"Yes, we really have to thank your family. They've helped us so much." Li Guilan put down her teacup and said solemnly, "I heard from Yueyue that your eldest sister helped her and her brother out of a predicament, so my husband and I wanted to come and thank you in person. But we've been so busy at home that we haven't been able to get away."
"It's nothing, just a small favor," He Cuihua waved her hand.
"Oh, right, these are some agricultural products I brought from home. They're not worth much, just a small token of my appreciation. Please accept them!" Li Guilan said, taking out a bunch of things from the snakeskin bag, including peanuts, dates, mung beans, cornmeal, and various fruits from the mountains.
Leng Yue was speechless. It was the first time she'd realized that Aunt Guilan was like Doraemon. Putting everything else aside, the things she casually pulled out were far superior to the fruit, candy, and melon seeds she'd prepared before.
"Sister, what are you doing? Farming isn't easy for you either, really, take it all back." He Cuihua quickly declined.
"Big sister, you must accept this. Even if it weren't for last time, you've been running around helping Yueyue open this shop, and we should thank you properly." Li Guilan was sincerely grateful to He Cuihua and Xie Juruo. "In principle, my husband and I, as the elders of these two children, should treat you to a meal. But my husband isn't here, so we'll have to do it next time."
"No need, really no need, why are you being so polite, young ladies!" He Cuihua kept refusing.
"Auntie, please accept this. My aunt carried it all the way from the village with great difficulty; this is her heartfelt gift." Leng Yue was deeply moved. They weren't actually that close to Li Guilan and her family, but they genuinely treated her like their own child. Just like in their interpersonal relationships and social interactions, they were meticulously managing things as if they were their own child.
Finally, Xie Juru spoke up, and He Cuihua accepted the bag of agricultural products.
Finally, Leng Yue also brought out the gifts she had prepared for everyone: clothes she had made for them.
He Cuihua wore a dark-colored, floral-patterned, vintage-style long dress with a Chinese knot at the hem, giving her a dignified and kind appearance. Xie Juruo wore a light-colored, long-sleeved dress embroidered with crabapple blossoms, with a belt tied in a bow at the waist, making her look slender and elegant. Li Guilan wore a stand-up collar floral shirt and a pair of fitted black trousers, looking good without hindering her farm work.
After trying them on, everyone felt they fit perfectly and were very comfortable, and they were overjoyed. Leng Yue was also very happy, and the whole group was all smiles.
