Chapter 29 Voice of the Heart

The burning flames rose, and the scene beside the villa began to blur. Zhu Yuanqing stood at the door, blocked by a transparent membrane in front of him, unable to move forward.

The fire grew bigger and bigger, and thick black smoke billowed and raged, eventually turning into ashes along with the surrounding scenery.

Zhu Yuanqing suddenly opened his eyes and saw an unhealthy pale chin.

He pinched Pei Xia's clothes, his voice was dry, and the words he wanted to say were swallowed back again and again.

What should he say? What can he say?

What had already happened could not be changed, and the caring words of others seemed particularly powerless... Zhu Yuanqing didn't even dare to think deeply about whether the bound child was still breathing before the flames ignited...

He squeezed so tightly that a large piece of the smooth silk nightgown was torn off, and the joints on his fingers were trembling slightly.

Pei Xia lowered his eyes and fixed them on Zhu Yuanqing's face. When their eyes met, he extended his hand and smiled faintly, "What's wrong?"

The strength of the hand on the lower back increased a little. Zhu Yuanqing shook his head, held his hand and arched it upwards, slightly increasing the distance so that he was on the same level as Pei Xia.

"What should I do?" he whispered, "I feel so sorry for you..."

Zhu Yuanqing placed Pei Xia's hand on his left chest, where his heart was beating non-stop.

He let out a breath, and before he could come out of the scene just now, he felt a great pain in his heart, and looked at Pei Xia as if he were a pitiful little thing.

The temperature of the palm of his hand was almost burning. Pei Xia curled up his fingers, but at the same time he couldn't help but move closer.

This is the warmth from a living person, the only warmth he has felt in nine years, coming from someone he loves.

Perhaps because his movements were too cautious, Zhu Yuanqing felt even more uncomfortable. He placed his cold hands on his chest, pressing down while leaning forward to get closer.

Pei Xia's empty heart trembled, as if he felt a non-existent palpitation, and his palm rolled over a place he dared not even think about.

The fabric of the nightgown is particularly smooth and sticks to the body thinly. It feels almost weightless when worn and is mainly comfortable.

This thoughtful design plays a significant role at the moment - as if it doesn't exist at all.

Pei Xia's originally heavy mood suddenly changed, and his mind was filled with the soft touch under his palm.

Oh, the quiet little flower bud has stood up and is pressed against the palm of my hand, so delicate and tender.

Zhu Yuanqing didn't notice his abnormality. After all, he was completely focused on his anger about what had happened in the past and his heartache for the poor little thing in front of him. How could he have the time to care about anything else?

The poor little girl quietly raised her hands, and when they parted slightly, she pressed them down again, moving closer: "I want to hear your heartbeat, can I?"

Thinking of his inhuman identity, Zhu Yuanqing felt a pang in his heart and agreed, "Of course."

The person in front of him was getting closer and closer. He continued, "You don't need to ask me about these things. You can ask me anytime you want."

These were just small things. Zhu Yuanqing hoped that Pei Xia would be more comfortable in his presence, just like he was before he regained consciousness.

After all, it's the same person. The men in this world had such a miserable past that he couldn't help but indulge them more.

With permission, Pei Xia moved closer and closer. He took his hand away and put his ear against his heart. The "boom" and "boom" sound of his heartbeat passed through his eardrum, as if it came from his own body.

Pei Xia listened carefully and looked around casually, but was dazzled by the vast snowfield.

The bathrobe was loose, held together only by a thin belt around the waist. When turning sideways, one side of the collar fell down due to gravity, barely covering anything.

Pei Xia remembered the strawberry he fed Zhu Yuanqing, but this one was a little greener and lighter in color, with an unripe pink tint. It was even more shy than the one on the side of his face, with its head lowered and buried in the ground.

My head is full of random thoughts...

Pei Xia closed his eyes, unable to understand why he was thinking about such nonsense at this time.

The fluffy black head was pressed against Zhu Yuanqing's chest, and it felt a little itchy through the thin layer of cloth. Some of the slightly long hair pricked the skin, making the itchiness even more obvious.

He resisted the urge to dodge, smoothed Pei Xia's messy hair, and moved a little further away from him.

Looking down, Pei Xia was motionless with his eyes closed and not breathing, looking like he was asleep.

Zhu Yuanqing stroked the black hair in his hand, and his heart sank again.

Even the sound of my heartbeat is so precious...

His disgust for the remaining people increased again.

It was unknown how much time had passed, so long that Zhu Yuanqing's raised hands began to ache. He whispered tentatively, "Pei Xia?"

The motionless person suddenly opened his eyes, his dark pupils almost occupying the entire eye socket, with only a little white remaining at the edge, looking extremely creepy.

Zhu Yuanqing didn't even blink and smiled, "I almost thought you were asleep."

Pei Xia shook his head and closed his eyes. When he opened them again, they were almost the same as usual, with the pupils and whites of his eyes in normal proportions.

He raised his chin and rubbed Zhu Yuanqing's chin with the top of his head, and his body hidden in the quilt slowly moved closer.

Zhu Yuanqing's pupils shrank, and the calm yet painful expression on his face froze, turning into disbelief.

He took a deep breath and looked down, but he could only see thick hair and could not see Pei Xia's expression at all.

The two small earthen slopes in the quilt gradually moved closer to each other, and later one of them directly supported its body, turning from an earthen slope into a towering hill.

Zhu Yuanqing was facing the ceiling, with his arm supported straight on the bed by his ear. When he raised his eyes, he saw Pei Xia's face close at hand.

"You have no heartbeat, yet you can...?" Zhu Yuanqing glanced downwards with an ambiguous meaning.

Unexpectedly, Zhu Yuanqing's first reaction was curiosity, especially for such a question. Pei Xia was speechless for a rare time and stood up and sat down.

The night was too dark, and Zhu Yuanqing couldn't see his expression clearly. He frowned and said, "This doesn't make sense..."

"Common sense?" A string of black mist flew away carrying a black belt, and another group of black mist drilled into Zhu Yuanqing's neck to play with him.

Pei Xia leaned down, looking at people with a pair of puppy eyes: "Besides me, do you know other similar guys?"

His voice was steady, but upon closer listening, there was a hint of murderous intent.

Zhu Yuanqing rubbed the black ball on the side of his face and laughed: "That's not the case. You are the only one who pleases me like this."

"Really?" Pei Xia's voice trembled a little, but his movements did not stop at all.

"Hiss..." The dough, which hadn't been kneaded yet, was a little tight. Zhu Yuanqing couldn't see clearly and continued, "Of course."

After a while, a large cloud of black fog suddenly surged out of the quiet room, rolling and entwining, all mixed together, filling the bedroom.

Late in the night, the thick fog dissipated, revealing the newly changed sheets and the two people lying on them...
