"Don't worry, my daughter won't be in any danger even in the deep palace," she said, a slight smile playing on her lips.
"Jiu'er, do you have some kind of plan?" Ning Renqing couldn't help but ask. No one knows a daughter better than her father; he could tell what she meant from just one expression.
All I can say is that Shang Xian's acting was convincing.
"Father, I know how to plan things," Shang Xian said, stopping short of saying anything. Ning Renqing nodded, feeling gratified that his daughter had grown up.
After chatting for a while, Ning Renqing took his mother to the study to write his resignation letter.
The room was empty except for Shang Xian and Ning Ge.
"Sister, do you really have a plan?" Ning Ge asked.
He found it strange; his sister was already the empress, so what was she plotting?
Shang Xian smiled and looked at Ning Ge: "What do you think of Apocalypse now?"
“Very good, the country is prosperous and the people are at peace, and the weather is favorable.” He finished speaking, but then he seemed a little melancholy, though not entirely.
Shang Xian knew he was in business, and she was quite right about that.
Ning Ge shook his head and said, "Actually, it's all just on the surface; things are completely different underneath."
"No matter how glamorous the exterior may be, the interior is already rotten, isn't it?"
Ning Ge looked at her, blinking his eyes. His innocent, peach-blossom eyes didn't resemble those of a cunning businesswoman at all.
"So, I hope Xiao Ge has the ability to protect himself." Shang Xian stood on tiptoe and touched Ning Ge, who was much taller than her.
Shang Xian's cheerful voice rang in Ning Ge's ears, and he was immediately stunned again: "Sister, do you want to?"
"After our parents are gone, I'll be surrounded by enemies on all sides. You must protect yourself." Shang Xian beckoned to him, and Ning Ge bent down to hear Shang Xian say, "Secretly raise a group of assassins yourself."
Ning Ge looked at her in surprise.
Shang Xian smiled and said, "You need to start preparing now to protect yourself."
Ning Ge finally understood that his sister had always been thinking of him, and that letting him raise a group of assassins was also to let him protect himself.
"And what about you?"
"Don't worry about me. It would be better if Dugu Qianchen wanted to kill me one day," Shang Xian said with a charming smile.
Ning Ge said with a stern face, "Sis, don't talk nonsense."
Shang Xian stepped across the threshold, looked up at the gray-pink sky, and put one hand behind his back: "Xiao Ge, the apparent calm in Tianqi is about to end."
Ning Ge didn't understand, and Shang Xian didn't want to say more. She turned to Ning Ge and gave him a smile: "Little Ge, you must take good care of yourself."
She insisted on staying for a meal, and Ning Renqing couldn't persuade her otherwise. This was the last family reunion meal at the Prime Minister's residence.
When she finally left, both Ning's mother and father were reluctant to let her go.
Ning's mother, in particular, was easily moved to tears and burst into tears.
Shang Xian comforted her, saying that they could meet again in the future, and that she would go to see them after their trip. Only then did Ning's mother stop crying.
Ning Renqing gave a long speech, and Shang Xian patted Ning Ge on the shoulder: "Take care of yourself."
Ning Ge nodded. He knew, and even if his sister hadn't said anything, he would have known long ago. He had been preparing for this day when his father would resign. He had enough power to protect himself. What he was most worried about was his sister.
"I'm leaving now, Father and Mother, you should go back. It's getting chilly outside tonight. I'm off," Shang Xian waved to him from the carriage.
After leaving the Prime Minister's residence, Mu Se asked, "Why did Your Highness's words today sound like a farewell?"
"Twilight, I'm giving you a choice now," Shang Xian said calmly, propping his head up with one hand and lifting the curtain with the other.
