The sundial and the star track exchanged a glance, then simultaneously looked away. Perhaps... there was an innate sense of repulsion between these high priests.
Xingji suddenly said, "The goddess comes from another world. I wonder when she made these two friends?"
Hua Zhouzhou's smile froze. She came from another world, was summoned to Dongyang Kingdom, and then captured and taken to Nancai Kingdom. She couldn't say that Feng Guang was her friend from the other world, otherwise she would cause Feng Guang to be captured by the people of Nancai Kingdom as well. But she also couldn't say that she met Feng Guang in Dongyang Kingdom, otherwise Feng Guang and the sundial might be executed as spies of the enemy country.
While Hua Zhouzhou was struggling with her own thoughts, Feng Guang spoke up: "Some time ago, my brother and I were hunting in Qiming Mountain when we were arrested by the people of Dongyang Kingdom as spies. It was the goddess who saved us, and that's how we were able to return to Nancai Kingdom."
Qiming Mountain is the border between the two countries. Nan Cai Kingdom is suffering from floods, and Dong Yang Kingdom is suffering from drought. Now, the only place where you can still hunt fresh prey is Qiming Mountain.
Hua Zhouzhou nodded with a smile, "Yes, when Feng Guang and her brother were arrested, I was the one who asked the people of Dongyang Kingdom to release them."
"I see." Star Trail seemed to believe it.
However, the sundial knew he didn't believe it, but the star trail wouldn't do anything to them either. This was probably... a kind of perception between high priests.
Hua Zhouzhou said, "This isn't the place to reminisce. Let's go inside and talk."
Feng Guang nodded, then tugged at the sundial's sleeve. He didn't move. She looked up and saw that he and Xing Ji were staring at each other, seemingly scrutinizing one another. Her lips twitched, and she simply grabbed his hand and pulled him inside.
Xingji naturally had to follow behind Hua Zhouzhou.
The news of Hua Zhouzhou's arrival quickly reached Mu Gui. In the hall, Mu Gui sat in the main seat, with Feng Quan beside him. Mu Gui's complexion had improved considerably, and he asked with a smile, "The palace is not close to here, why has the goddess come?"
"I heard the floods are severe, so I wanted to see if I could come and help." Hua Zhouzhou's thoughts went beyond that; she needed to find a way to leave this place. She didn't consider herself a goddess, and both Dongyang Kingdom and Nancai Kingdom placed too much expectation on her.
Mu Gui said, "Floods are a very dangerous thing, and they are often accompanied by epidemics. The goddess is of noble status and should not have come. Xingji, you have failed in your duty."
Xingji lowered his head and said, "It was my fault for not handling it well."
"Your Majesty, please don't blame him. I begged Xingji to bring me here. This matter has nothing to do with him. If you want to punish someone, punish me instead." Hua Zhouzhou was a loyal person, and no matter what, she was unwilling to implicate others because of her own affairs.
Fengguang and the sundial stood to one side. She raised her hand to cover her mouth and yawned out of boredom. She immediately felt a gaze fall on her and saw Mu Gui looking at her with a smile. She awkwardly lowered her hand and stood obediently.
Then she saw the sundial glance at her, and she glared back defiantly.
The sundial paused, shifted his steps slightly, and shielded her behind him. When she saw the mud and water stains on his clothes, her heart warmed, and she quietly grabbed one of his fingers. After a slight pause, he grasped her hand in return.
My spirits immediately soared.
