Chapter 127 The Female Professor's Tribulations (Part 4)

After seeing Cheng Hao off, Shi Lan began a life of cultivation and eating, eating and cultivating.

The days passed by in a blur, and she completely forgot about time until Cheng Hao called, at which point she realized that five days had already gone by.

Upon learning that she could go to school tomorrow, Shi Lan calmly hummed in agreement.

Seeing that she didn't react, Cheng Hao asked her unwillingly, "That's it?"

Shi Lan countered, "Otherwise what?"

Cheng Hao was stumped by her question, so he quickly changed the subject and asked about her life these past two days. When he heard that she hadn't gone out and had stayed at home, he started to worry again and asked her if there was anything left in the refrigerator, since the milk and other things were no longer fresh, and suggested that she go out and buy some to replenish her supplies.

Shi Lan gave a perfunctory "hmm" and hung up the phone.

The next day, Shi Lan walked into the campus through the morning mist. The bright sun leaped out of the clouds, quickly evaporating the dew that had fallen the night before.

In the academic affairs office, Cheng Yueran adjusted her glasses, her face serious. "Are you feeling better?"

Shi Lan smiled and nodded, "That's about it."

Cheng Yueran nodded and said, "Although health is the foundation of everything, if you can get through a minor illness, just persevere. Taking a break from school is not a trivial matter. If you are sick and really can't handle it, just ask for sick leave. Don't take a break from school so easily."

Shi Lan smiled ingratiatingly and quickly agreed.

Cheng Yueran had some connections with Shi's father. At the time, she approved Shi's leave of absence partly out of respect for him and partly out of concern that such an outstanding child might neglect her health due to studying. Now that she was back and looked quite healthy, she was naturally very happy.

After leaving the academic affairs office, Shi Lan first copied a timetable, preparing to catch up on the missed classes in an emergency. Then she visited each of her tutors and made a rough summary of the content taught in the past two months. Li Xuexin, the class monitor of her class, was kind-hearted and lent her her notes when she saw how busy she was, relieving her urgent need.

In the days that followed, Shi Lan settled down in the library, running between home and school every day. Before long, she finally caught up with him. Before the summer vacation, Professor Wang, who specialized in classical literature, somehow found out about her postgraduate entrance exam and came to find her to ask if she wanted to study with him if she passed the exam.

Shi Lan was overjoyed and nodded quickly.

Professor Wang is a towering figure in the literary world, just like Shi's father is in the science and engineering world. His students are spread throughout the education sector. If Shi Lan becomes his student, it means that wherever she goes in the education circle, she will have senior brothers to lend a helping hand.

The holiday was fast approaching, and Shi Lan packed a few changes of clothes, preparing to go home for a few days. However, Cheng Hao came looking for her just before she left.

"Junior Sister, Master knows about what happened to you."

Upon meeting, Cheng Hao skipped the pleasantries and went straight to the point.

Shi Lan was stunned for a moment, then paused for two seconds before reacting, "How did he know?"

Cheng Hao scratched his head. "Liu Jinxiang went to your house to deliver something. When Master asked him about it, he said you had left and he didn't know where you went. Master was so worried that he almost fainted. Master's wife called me."

Shi Lan looked at him nervously, "What did you say?"

Cheng Hao was very troubled. "What can I say? I'll just say I'm helping to find it."

Shi Lan breathed a sigh of relief. "How is my dad?"

Cheng Hao said, "I don't know. I was afraid my master would notice something was wrong, so I didn't dare to go to his door."

Shi Lan rolled her eyes at him, "Look at your pathetic self."

Cheng Hao grinned, "You're so capable, go ahead. Master's temper is no joke, I wouldn't dare to mess with him."

Shi Lan scoffed. How dare he be so presumptuous? Did he think she didn't know? If he were truly afraid, he wouldn't have insisted on opening a bookstore despite the immense pressure from his father.

“Fine, I’ll go. I’m not afraid,” Shi Lan said defiantly, picking up her bag and closing the door.

Shi's father had always doted on the original owner of this body since she was a child, and she refused to believe that she could change her treatment by replacing him.

Cheng Hao shrugged, followed Shi Lan downstairs, opened the car door parked to the side, and said, "I'll see you through to the end, I'll take you home."

Shi Lan looked at him, "Aren't you afraid of my dad anymore?"

Cheng Hao grinned and said, "With you in front of me, what am I afraid of?"

Shi Lan glanced at him, looked straight ahead, and didn't want to say anything more.

Cheng Hao started the car, drove out of the residential area, and merged into the traffic. Before long, he arrived at the edge of the city.

In the distance stands the school's golden signboard. Beyond the gate are C University's teaching buildings and student dormitories. A short distance beyond the campus, there are several red-brick villas with pointed roofs, which are specifically for visiting experts and scholars. Currently, no more than five people in the entire school have this privilege, and Shi's father is one of them.

The car slowly came to a stop in front of one of the buildings. Shi Lan turned to look at Cheng Hao and asked, "Are you really coming in with me?"

Cheng Hao nodded, "Since we're already here, it wouldn't be right not to go in."

Shi Lan pursed her lips, "Whatever. I can barely take care of myself right now. Don't come to me for help if you get scolded later."

After saying that, she opened the car door and got out.

Cheng Hao glanced at her retreating figure, shook his head, and thought to himself, "Who knows who will save whom in the end?"

Cheng Hao parked the car and got out, seeing Shi Lan open the iron gate and go inside.

On a bright summer morning, Mr. Shi was leisurely practicing his boxing on the lush green grass. When he saw his daughter, he lowered his eyelids and didn't even glance at Shi Lan.

Shi Lan put down her small bag, put on a smile, ran to her father, grabbed his arm and said, "Dad, I'm back."

With a light flick, Shi's father shook off Shi Lan's hand, snorted, slid around, and continued practicing his punches.

Shi Lan was somewhat taken aback.

Although she didn't use much force just now, her technique was skillful. She thought she could easily catch him, but she didn't expect that Mr. Shi was really good at it and easily broke free.

Cheng Hao followed her in and saw that Shi Lan's expression was a little bad. He thought that Shi's father had scolded her, so he quickly took two steps forward. Just as he was about to speak, he saw Shi Lan jump up and rub against her father. She grabbed his arm with both hands, looked up at him, grinned, and said, "Dad, your good and lovely daughter is back."
