Chapter 174 Soft Girls Need to Be Strong (Part 3)

Having completed so many missions, Shi Lan had experienced countless battles and fights, including battlefield combat, one-on-one duels, and even scaling walls to break into homes. But all of those were against people. This time, her opponents were mantises, each as big as several houses, which made her feel immense pressure.

Trying to move as quietly as possible, she approached step by step. The fat mantis seemed to sense something was wrong and suddenly woke up from its slumber. Its pale green triangular head moved and tilted towards Shi Lan.

Shi Lan dared not let it turn around. Her disguise was extremely clumsy. From a distance, she looked like a malnourished little insect. But up close, anyone with eyes could tell she was not one of their kind. Just as the insect was about to look at her, Shi Lan made a decisive move and swung her knife down, aiming for its head.

The Zerg creature only had time to twitch its antennae, and before it could even make a sound, its head split in two with a hiss, and a disgusting liquid gushed out.

Shi Lan tilted her head and watched carefully for a while.

The Zerg's sludge was spilled all over the ground, but the two a few steps away didn't seem to notice anything unusual and were still pretending to be asleep. Shi Lan finally breathed a sigh of relief.

Slowly walking around the enormous creature that was still a head taller than her even when lying down, Shi Lan looked at the two insectoids with their backs to her with some worry. Beside these two insectoids was the side door leading to the small building.

The Zerg's weak points are at the neck and the area where the forelimbs connect to the wings. She is currently positioned to the right of their hind legs. The best way to kill both Zerg in one fell swoop is to leap over one of their bodies and jump to a spot slightly in front of the middle of the two Zerg. She must then swiftly strike each side with a single slash before they make a sound, thus avoiding alerting the other Zerg that are some distance away and successfully entering the building.

Shi Lan, looking at the insect's body, which was two heads taller than her, mustered her strength and used all the power she could to lift herself off the ground.

Shi Lan's physique is still weaker than that of a true A-rank athlete. Although her jumping ability has improved a lot after a period of intensive training, it is undeniable that the difference in physique is still difficult to reverse.

Shi Lan's powerful jump, which would have been easily cleared by any other trained Zerg, still resulted in a slight glancing blow to the Zerg's wing. Fortunately, her quick reaction made up for her shortcoming.

The moment she sensed the impact, she swung her forelimbs in mid-air, hooking the neck of the insectoid that had sensed something was wrong and turned its head. As it turned its head, she pulled hard, and as she landed, she swung her other hand, its sharp serrations piercing the joint of another insectoid's wing as easily as cutting tofu.

With a 'thump', Shi Lan staggered and rolled on the ground, and a huge three-legged head rolled to her feet.

Shi Lan took a half-step back in disgust, pulled out her forelimbs that were deeply embedded in the insect's body, dodged the huge body that was leaning towards her, nimbly jumped over the claws that were reaching out as a reflex, and finally stepped into the small building that had long been occupied by the insect race.

Based on her memory, Shi Lan easily passed through a long corridor, and then there were stairs. Just as she reached the corner, she heard a rustling sound, interspersed with a few urgent hisses.

Shi Lan stopped and slowly moved closer to the wall. In a pool of bright red liquid by the stairs, several insectoids, ranging from half a foot to a meter in size, were gathered there. They were touching heads and moving their forelimbs back and forth, as if they were putting something into their mouths.

Shi Lan looked closely and saw several pieces of cloth on the ground that were very similar to the material of her clothes. In an instant, she understood what those insectoids were eating.

Shi Lan's stomach churned, and a wave of nausea surged up.

Shi Lan pursed her lips, suppressing the impulse from her instincts, and with a powerful push of her feet, she shot out like an arrow.

In a frenzy of irrational slaughter, the Zerg, who hadn't even had a chance to react, were cut to pieces and their brains scattered, brown liquid splattering everywhere.

Shi Lan shook her forelimbs, which still contained some liquid, exhaled the sour breath from her mouth, and looked sharply at the stairs. For the first time, she felt an uncontrollable killing intent towards these disgusting creatures.

Leaning against the wall, she walked up step by step. There were several small insectoids gathered at the corner, which Shi Lan dealt with without blinking. She stepped over the severed limbs and continued upward.

Beyond the second level, the insectoids above were noticeably smaller, some only the size of an adult's arm. They walked with a limp, and some had a transparent membrane covering their bodies, making them look like they had just been born.

Shi Lan felt a chill. The original owner of this body died young, and these things were not in her last memories. But Shi Lan was not stupid. She used to be a top student. Even if she didn't understand natural science, she could still tell the difference from the size of the insectoids.

There must be a female insect here, but we don't know how many there are yet.

The Zerg have a high reproductive rate and a short growth period. If a female Zerg has sufficient nutrition, she can lay eggs continuously. One egg can reproduce into hundreds of Zerg, and these Zerg only need about a week to grow into adults.

The planet has abundant vegetation, so the mother insects will not lack nutrients. If the mother insects are allowed to reproduce freely, the place will probably become barren in less than two months. At that time, they will travel to other planets through their unique wormholes to carry out the next killing and plundering.

Shi Lan frowned, finding it difficult to make a decision. The original owner felt that the outside world was vast, and she didn't want to be confined at home, constantly having babies with these barbarians like A. She felt that she could have a wider world, and if possible, she wanted to encourage girls like her to cheer up. Even if they couldn't fight on the front lines of life and death to protect the alliance like A, they could at least do their part in various positions behind the scenes like B.

Shi Lan felt that if he could hunt down the queen insect here, save the entire planet, and use this to inspire the O-type girl to cheer up, there might still be a sliver of hope to realize the original owner's wish.

The rustling sound came again, and Shi Lan sighed silently, refocusing her attention.

Two enormous insectoids were descending from above, with several smaller insectoids staggering beside them. Shi Lan hid behind the corner wall, and as the insectoids passed by, she slashed horizontally, smashing one insectoid's head in two. As she kicked away, she used her other foot to step on the wall, and with the recoil from the insectoid's corpse, she soared into the air, over the other insectoid's raised forelimb, and severed its head.

The small insectoid creatures below were startled and fled in panic. As they trembled, their antennae shaking as if emitting intermittent hissing, Shi Lan pierced them one by one, turning them into a gourd. (To be continued.)
