Seemingly sensing the commotion below, a Zerg creature larger than any Shi Lan had ever seen soon emerged. Shi Lan held her breath, pressed herself against the wall, and waited quietly for its next move.
The insectoid creature first hissed downwards, and after a long silence below, it quickly moved its antennae and stretched its head, as big as a car, forward as if to look down.
Shi Lan gripped the forelimb tightly in her hand, swung her arm in a wide arc, and slashed at its neck, which was pressed against the wall.
With a clang of metal clashing, the enormous insectoid slowly turned its head, its terrifying compound eyes reflecting countless stone mists.
Shi Lan felt a chill run down her spine. Looking at the forelimb in her hand, which had been broken apart and now only had a few small serrated teeth left, she panicked a little.
The insectoid creature moved its two pairs of claws behind it, gradually filling the entire stairwell with its massive body, forcing Shi Lan into a corner.
Looking at it perched on the roof, head half-drooping, looking down at her, Shi Lan's palms began to sweat.
Are you kidding me? The original owner only encountered a gatekeeper downstairs, so how come the difficulty level has increased exponentially for her?
The sharp serrations only left scratches when they hit it, which is too illogical. How could she possibly kill such an invulnerable creature?
However, looking at it another way, this also confirms that there must be something inside that the Zerg would protect, otherwise there wouldn't be such a behemoth guarding the gate.
The bolder you are, the more you will achieve. To reap rewards, you must put in more effort and overcome greater difficulties.
Shi Lan clenched her knuckles, a hint of determination in her eyes. Since that was the case, she would go all out. She would still pester them relentlessly. Anyway, things had already come to this, let's see who could kill whom.
After breaking off the two sharpest remaining serrations, Shi Lan untied the cumbersome garments binding her body, bent her legs slightly, and assumed a fighting stance.
The insectoid creature, whether stupid or not, just watched her movements until she revealed her true intentions. Only then did it move its antennae, wave its forelimbs, and reach out to grab her.
Shi Lan nimbly stepped over it, raised an eyebrow, and suddenly understood its intention. She sighed inwardly, "Quite sophisticated."
This uncivilized insect is actually trying to learn from humans. Unfortunately, it doesn't know that there's a saying among humans: "All's fair in war." It's clearly at a disadvantage now, and if it attacks openly, it will be instantly killed. Therefore, it plans to play dirty tricks.
Easily dodging its continuous slashes from above and below, Shi Lan leaped up, grabbed its swaying tentacles, and with a desperate jump, landed directly on its large head.
Following its metallic spine, Shi Lan slid down to the joint where its wings were connected, took out the serrated edge she had clipped to her body, grabbed its constantly trembling wings, and began to cut them.
The insectoid creature must have been in great pain, as evidenced by its constant hissing and the relentless trembling of its tentacles.
She ducked to avoid its awkwardly outstretched forelimbs, then looked up at its strangely turned head, its compound eyes filled with a fierce expression.
Shi Lan grinned at it, revealing a strange smile, but her hand chopped even harder.
The Zerg let out an angry hiss, its entire body suddenly tilted to one side, and its massive body slammed forcefully against the wall.
Shi Lan was jolted up by its violent movement, and her body slid down.
Shi Lan's reaction was also very quick. In the instant she fell, she grabbed the wing with one hand and used the serrated edge of the wing with the other.
Strands of brown liquid immediately dripped down its massive body, splashing all over Shi Lan's head and face. But she couldn't care less at this point. The slippery, gritty serrations made it impossible for her to grip them. The insectoid seemed oblivious to the pain of its injury, continuing to ram into its body. Shi Lan had no choice but to grip its half-broken wing tightly, hooking her legs around its slightly protruding body, dodging its claws that kept trying to scratch her, and struggling to climb upwards.
The walls were cracked from the impacts of the Zerg, and small pieces of stone mixed with dust fell down, covering Shi Lan's head and face.
Shi Lan squinted at the wall that was about to crumble into pieces. She knew that if she didn't speed up, the big guy might not be hurt when the wall collapsed, but she would definitely be crushed.
The wall had begun to shake. Shi Lan finally managed to step on the joint of one of its feet, and as it tried to move, she used its momentum to jump up. In an instant, her fingers grabbed the edge of its other wing. After a difficult effort, she finally managed to climb up successfully.
The Zerg was watching its own back, and it was fully aware of Shi Lan's movements, but it was powerless to stop her. Helpless, it could only turn its head and hiss towards the house. Soon, another Zerg, slightly inferior to it, came out.
The insectoid touched its antennae, presumably exchanging information, and then extended its forelimbs, thrusting towards Shi Lan.
Seeing the sharp serrated edges hurtling towards her, Shi Lan tugged at her wings and dodged to the side.
The jagged attack missed its target, but it didn't retract, continuing to sweep horizontally towards her.
Shi Lan quickly lay down, her whole body pressed against the wings. Fortunately, she was not large, and the sharp tip narrowly missed her body, though it did cut a clean gash in her clothes.
A cool breeze blew in through the opening, and Shi Lan shivered involuntarily, unsure whether it was from the cold or from fright.
Seeing that Shi Lan was still alive and kicking, the Zerg being held tightly by her angrily yelled at the Zerg that came later.
The insectoid creature twitched its antennae, then suddenly spread its two forelimbs and lunged directly at Shi Lan with incredible speed.
