Chapter 191 A Soft Girl Needs to Be Strong (Part 20)

Turning off her personal terminal, Shi Lan leaned back. She'd been up most of the night, and her energy was severely depleted. Although a short nap had helped her recover somewhat, she still felt exhausted. (Latest and fastest updates)

Moore had been watching her closely, and when he saw her close her eyes, he quickly adjusted the back of the chair to make her more comfortable for a nap.

The aircraft glided more smoothly across the sky and soon came to rest beside a small building. The cabin door made a soft 'click' sound. Shi Lan woke up groggily, blinked, and quickly became fully awake.

Moore turned his head and saw her getting up, so he said, "You're awake?"

Shi Lan nodded and curiously looked at the house through the window. If she hadn't known beforehand that this was Moore's laboratory, she would have thought it was just an ordinary vacation home.

Moore opened the hatch and led Shi Lan to the doorway.

A device by the door emitted a blue light screen, quickly scanning the two people and issuing a warning that strangers had been detected.

Moore quickly entered some information into the instrument. While the machine was searching, he whispered to Shi Lan that because the research had not been approved by the research institute, they needed to be especially careful, otherwise their results might be stolen by others, and the alliance might not care.

Shi Lan nodded to indicate that she understood. It just meant that since she hadn't applied for a national patent, it was very likely that her work would be infringed upon by others.

The door slid open silently, and Moore went in first, followed closely by Shi Lan.

The door closed quickly, and bright light shone from beside the two of them all the way to the innermost part.

Shi Lan raised an eyebrow. Having learned from last night's experience, she habitually closed her eyes for a moment, then opened them again. Before her appeared rows of control panels with various instruments. At the far end, a man and a woman were looking at something and talking in hushed tones. Noticing the movement, they both looked up and saw that it was Moore, so they walked over.

Moore formally introduced Shi Lan to Zhou Mo and Katie, and Shi Lan politely nodded in return.

Zhou Mo was as quiet as her name suggested, while Katie was very enthusiastic, especially after learning that she was an omega, she was so happy she almost jumped for joy.

Shi Lan was speechless at her undisguised manner.

Even if you have research subjects, you should still be a little reserved. At least don't be so happy in front of them.

Although she was a little unhappy about being used as a research subject, she also needed to use their technology to free herself from the control of her instincts. Faced with the possibility of being harmonized by people she didn't like, she would rather be a guinea pig and be studied. At least that way, she would still have hope of taking control of her own life in the future.

Katie asked Shi Lan nervously if she could provide a blood sample, and Moore instinctively wanted to refuse.

Shi Lan smiled and stopped him, saying that since the decision had already been made, they should get into the swing of things as soon as possible.

Katie glanced at Moore, then smiled sweetly and pulled Shi Lan to the research table next to her.

Moore frowned with heartache as he watched the bright red blood gushing from the tube. His lips moved, but in the end, he did not disobey Shi Lan's wishes.

Katie drew a large vial of blood and went off to have it analyzed, completely satisfied. Zhou Mo followed behind, silently dispensing and sampling the blood, putting it into the instrument, and then peering through the magnifying glass. Once Katie finished, she shoved him aside and rudely leaned in to look. Zhou Mo wasn't angry; he just silently walked away to do other things.

Shi Lan found the interaction between the two very interesting. Moore walked to Shi Lan's side and looked at her fair arm. There was a small needle hole on the blue vein, with a faint trace of bright red on it.

Shi Lan looked up at his droopy eyebrows and laughed.

What an honest girl. When she said she was joining, she was prepared to be sampled. She thought he already knew her plans, but now it seems he obviously didn't think that far ahead.

After gently pressing the needle hole a few times, Shi Lan threw away the cotton swab and lowered her sleeve.

How long will it take to get results from the research?

The lights on the instrument kept flashing, and Moore said uncertainly, "It's hard to say, but I think it will take at least three days."

Shi Lan nodded and rubbed her eyes.

Such meticulous and highly specialized work was not suitable for her. Her main purpose in coming here was to provide samples and, after receiving the samples, to be the first to try them out.

O's menstrual cycle is about three months, which means that in another three months she will experience the same situation as last night again.

If that mysterious man doesn't reappear, then in the next two weeks, she will most likely be shamelessly begging some domineering and arrogant man to have sex with her.

Shi Lan would rather die than do something so undignified.

Seeing that she looked tired, Moore quickly took her upstairs, where they rested.

Moore led her to an empty room and then left in a gentlemanly manner.

After closing the door, Shi Lan half-reclined on the edge of the bed, quietly pondering what to do next.

The duel at the Shi family's house was a bit reckless. She shouldn't have acted so impulsively out of anger. This might be related to the previous worlds where she had experienced all sorts of battles and had become accustomed to solving problems with violence. But in reality, there was still some time before her engagement ceremony. She could have used gentler methods, such as seducing one of the A's and escaping while he was distracted. Alternatively, she could have secretly contacted Shi Jun through Shi's mother's personal computer. With Shi Jun's abilities, he could have taken her away without a trace. She didn't need to use the numerous guests to restrain the five A's and resort to such a poor strategy.

Fortunately, this wasn't entirely fruitless. At least she met Moore and learned about his research, which prevented her from completely losing faith in fulfilling the original owner's wish.

Just thinking about her father's rage still gave Shi Lan a headache. It was really unbelievable that she had a father who was so calm and collected, but secretly plotting against his daughter. Although she knew that he was acting out of paternal love, it was not what she wanted. His imposition would only make her react more violently.

As the days went by, Shi Lan settled down in the research institute. Katie and Zhou Mo worked day and night on their research, shuttling between the Moore Research Institute and here. Fortunately, he remembered that Shi Lan was bored here alone, so he brought her a new quantum computer to keep her entertained.

Shi Lan was indeed bored every day, so she simply registered an account and went to Mei Si's posts to see the pictures she had recently posted. When she saw the picture of herself pressing her hand on Sak to help him set his bones, along with a series of comments and dates below, she still smiled.

It's surprising that this matter hasn't subsided after so long; it seems her fame on StarNet has increased even more.

As she looked at the post, Shi Lan suddenly had a flash of inspiration and wrote, "York perfume seems to suit her very well."

A few minutes later, Meisi chimed in below, “Indeed,” with a smiley face.

Shi Lan looked at that smiling face and slowly smiled back. (To be continued.)
