Upon learning that Shi Lan was alright, Moore breathed a sigh of relief. Maria enthusiastically pulled Shi Lan aside, seemingly intending to have a long talk. Worried that his mother might say something embarrassing for both of them, Moore quickly made an excuse that Shi Lan had urgent business and hurriedly dragged her out of the house, completely ignoring Maria's winks and jeers behind them. Once aboard the aircraft, Shi Lan couldn't help but chuckle. She hadn't expected that Moore, who was so shy, reserved, and even somewhat artistic, would have such a warm and cheerful mother.
Moore scratched his head sheepishly and apologized to Shi Lan.
Shi Lan found it amusing, shook her head with a smile, and said it was nothing.
The aircraft sped along, quickly leaving the residential area. Other aircraft passed by one after another. Moore, controlling the direction, asked Shi Lan, "Miss Shi, where are you going?"
Shi Lan frowned, thought for a moment, and said, "Take me to the military camp."
Moore responded, opened the map, found the direction, and controlled the lever to fly there.
Shi Lan turned her head to look at the scene flying by, her mind in a state of confusion.
The original owner's wish was to break free from the control of the A and rise up on her own. Shi Lan originally thought this would not be difficult. She had strong mental strength, quick reflexes, and even her martial arts were much stronger than most of the A in the entire alliance. She felt that even if the A around her questioned her, she could still rely on herself to carve out her own world in this starry sky.
But after last night's experience, she suddenly became uncertain. That intense instinct had even caused her to lose her composure in her dazed state; how much more so for other delicate Omegas, who were utterly vulnerable to any hardship? (Latest and fastest updates)
Seeing Shi Lan's dejected expression, Moore wanted to comfort her but didn't know how to start, so he could only keep turning back to look at her.
Shi Lan noticed his gaze, turned her head, and smiled at him.
He casually started a conversation, saying, "Maria told me you're quite knowledgeable about biology?"
Moore's face turned red again. He nodded slightly and whispered, "Maria is exaggerating. I just have a slightly different opinion on the criteria for distinguishing races. That's all."
Upon hearing him mention racial distinctions, Shi Lan raised an eyebrow, sat up straight, and said, "If you don't mind, could you tell me about it?"
Under Shi Lan's gaze, Moore's face flushed even more. "I think it's unreasonable for society to take an overprotective attitude towards O. Therefore, I propose to study antibodies that target the problem of O releasing messages, so that they can freely choose whether or not to release messages, thereby changing their current lifestyle."
Shi Lan's eyes lit up when she heard this. She hadn't expected that he was researching this. It was like finding something you've been searching for without even looking for it.
"So, how's your research going?"
Moore gave a wry smile. "Not so good. The institute I work at doesn't support this topic, so I have to do research on my own. But..." He shrugged. "There are some problems at the moment, and I don't know how long it will take to succeed."
Shi Lan frowned, dissatisfied with the result. "What went wrong?"
Moore said, “There are many, but the main problem is the lack of samples. Most of the Os are hiding at home. Even if I am just a B, those As will not let me have contact with them. Without samples, I cannot continue my research.”
Shi Lan lowered her head and thought for a moment, then said, "I'll join your research group, and I'll help you solve this problem."
Moore was overjoyed and quickly expressed his gratitude.
Shi Lan laughed and said, "I'm not helping you. You know I've already arrived at Chushi, and soon I'll officially be an adult. When that happens, the only way to escape A's control will be through your antibodies."
Moore looked up at Shi Lan, who was smiling radiantly, and her face flushed even more, almost as red as a cloth.
Shi Lan suppressed a laugh, looking at the faintly visible blue-gray military camp in the distance, and said, "Aren't you going to turn around? Once we get to the military camp, you won't be able to take me with you."
Moore responded somewhat blankly, then quickly pulled the lever, turned the car around, and headed towards the research lab.
Shi Lan then used Moore's personal computer to contact Shi Min and asked him to cover for her. She said that she had already confirmed his location so that Shi's mother wouldn't worry. Then she asked him for Mei Si's contact information.
Looking at Meisi, who seemed somewhat frightened, Shi Lan asked her in surprise, "Are you alright?"
Mei Si composed herself, and after a long while, she managed a forced smile and said, "I'm fine, Miss Shi, is there anything I can help you with?"
Faced with Meisi, who seemed like a frightened bird, Shi Lan hesitated. She was unsure whether to spread the message about needing O samples through Meisi.
Meisi glanced at the side with a hint of apprehension, and Shi Lan immediately understood. There was someone next to her, so it was inconvenient for her to speak, but she still answered the call, which meant that the person had asked her to do so.
Shi Lan smiled and said, "It's nothing, it's just that the perfume you mentioned last time, I forgot the name of it."
Mei Si froze for a moment, but immediately rolled her eyes and understood what Shi Lan meant. She said, "Oh, it's a Hakka restaurant. Actually, there are a few other good ones. I'll take you there in a couple of days."
Shi Lan raised an eyebrow and glanced slightly to the side. "Then it's settled."
Meisi nodded with a smile.
Shi Lan noticed that her shoulders relaxed slightly, her previously taut nostrils flattened, and her facial expression softened considerably. She knew that she was no longer in any life-threatening danger. Although she didn't know who was with her, she could guess that it was probably related to her posting her photo on the StarNet.
After shutting down her personal terminal, Shi Lan fell into deep thought. Her only channel for disseminating information had been cut off, and she couldn't find a replacement for it in the short term.
Seeing that she didn't look well, Moore was a little worried. "Are you alright?"
Shi Lan snapped out of her daze and smiled. "It's nothing."
She then dialed Wenk's personal computer, since he was the only one she knew well on the capital planet.
Wenk's face appeared on the screen, and he looked at Shi Lan with a helpless expression. "My dear cousin, what's wrong now?"
Shi Lan asked him with a stern face if he knew anything about Mei Si. Wen Ke blinked and said, "I don't know her, why would I need to know anything about her?"
Shi Lan then told him about her previous discovery. Wenk's face turned serious, and only then did he remember to ask Shi Lan, "Where are you?"
Shi Lan looked around and said, "I don't know."
Wenk said, "You'd better not run around right now. Shi Jun went to an outer star system and we can't contact him right now. You'd better not go to Shi Min's place either. Let me find out more before we make a decision."
Shi Lan nodded and asked him, "How is my mother?"
Wenk's expression softened considerably. "It's only now that I've thought to ask my aunt," he said. "It's alright, my uncle went back to his post after seeing the guests off."
Shi Lan breathed a sigh of relief. She had been worried that her father would scold her mother in his anger. Her mother was a very sensitive person, and she was afraid she would be saddened. Now that she knew her mother was alright, she was finally at ease. (To be continued.)
