Xun Shiba stared at her back, and couldn't help but feel resentful.
The thought that had just flashed through his mind became clearer. If she hadn't lost to Shan Shier, he wouldn't have argued with that fool and then fought him. He wouldn't have gotten into trouble because of a moment of passion, making him ashamed to face other men.
Thinking of his boastful words back then, Xun Shiba coldly said, "Go outside and kneel down, and reflect on the mistakes you have made."
Shi Lan stopped, turned to look at him, and couldn't figure out what she had done wrong.
Ever since she received his memories, she has been quite obedient. Not only did she help him deal with a series of clean-up issues, but she also gently helped him make the bed and get his pillows. She fulfilled all her responsibilities and obligations of serving him personally.
Seeing that she didn't move, Xun Shiba's tone grew even colder. "Letting you out on your own is giving you face. Do you want me to have someone drag you out?"
Shi Lan felt a surge of anger, threw down the brocade quilt she was holding, and strode out of the room.
Xun Shiba stood there for a while, then shouted at the maid who was cowering at the door, "What are you all standing there for? Do you want me to do it myself?"
The maidservant hurried over, picked up the mattress that was hanging halfway on the ground, and gently spread it on the couch. She then helped Xun Shiba take off his shoes and robe. After he lay down, she quickly drew back the curtains.
Seeing that she had finished, Xun Shiba glanced at the water clock on the table and said, "After the water clock has run out, go and ask her if she knows where the mistake is."
The maidservant acknowledged and left. As soon as she stepped outside, she was stunned to see the empty courtyard.
In the training ground, Shi Lan circled the spacious square twice, stretching her limbs and loosening her muscles and bones.
It was late at night, and all the guards in the mansion had returned to their rooms to rest. Shi Lan stretched her legs and back, slowly getting up and moving around.
A shadow flickered in the darkness, letting out a low chuckle.
