Haoze took half a step forward and coldly looked at Zhou Yuxiu, who was huddled at the foot of the kang (a heated brick bed) with her knees looking somewhat strange.
Do you know what the consequences of your actions will be?
Haoze spoke softly, his gaze indifferent. If one didn't know what had happened before, they would probably think that he was a close friend offering well-intentioned advice.
Zhou Yuxiu slowly raised her head and stared intently into his eyes. After a while, her expression suddenly changed. The once spoiled yet timid girl transformed into a woman with calm eyes and an elegant demeanor.
"Haoze, you're awake after all."
Haoze nodded. "Yes, you should know what the first thing I do after I wake up is, right?"
Zhou Yuxiu chuckled softly, "Of course I know, but even if I didn't do this, and you resurrected her, wouldn't the outcome have been the same?"
Zhou Yuxiu looked at Shi Lan with a complicated expression: "You are really lucky. Even if I hid my traces, erased my memories, and imitated you in the past, I still couldn't 'bewitch' him. It's a pity, you were just one step away."
Shi Lan blinked. Was she really like Zhou Yuxiu before? Don't be ridiculous.
Haoze couldn't help but laugh when he saw that she was still trying to mislead Shi Lan. "No matter what Lan'er does or how she does it, I'm always there to protect her, but you're not. That's the difference."
Zhou Yuxiu nodded in agreement, "That's right, I really wish I was the one who was by your side back then."
Haoze pursed his lips and said coldly, "If it were you, you would have turned into a pile of dry grass long ago, and I would have used you to start a fire."
Zhou Yuxiu smiled bitterly, "That's right. If it weren't for her back then, I'm afraid I would have turned into a pile of ashes and vanished into thin air long ago."
Shi Lan looked around, unsure of the specifics, but one thing was certain: this person had connections with both her and Haoze, and it seemed that her connection with him was even deeper.
"No way," Shi Lan thought to herself. "Could this be love turning into hate, and then venting that hatred on his childhood sweetheart?"
Haoze flicked his hand, and a golden light enveloped Zhou Yuxiu.
Zhou Yuxiu gathered her long hair with her hand and smiled gently, "Haoze, this is just the beginning. I won't give up. You will eventually accept me."
Haoze frowned, his gesture changed, and Zhou Yuxiu's face suddenly twisted, her scream vanished.
Shi Lan shuddered at the sound. Hao Ze gently stroked her hair, soothingly saying, "Lan'er, I'm leaving. Remember one thing: don't let her succeed, otherwise..."
Haoze's body suddenly turned pale, and before he could finish speaking, he transformed into an aurora that streaked across the sky.
