Chapter 330 Awakening the Cold-Hearted Head of the Family (Part 1)

Shi Lan's heart skipped a beat, and she anxiously exclaimed, "Otherwise what?"

As soon as she finished speaking, her surroundings suddenly distorted, and everything began to deform.

Shi Lan's fingers suddenly broke out in a cold sweat. The scenes around her seemed to flash by like flowing light, with fragments of what she had experienced and what she hadn't experienced flashing by quickly. Suddenly, a handsome face caught her attention. It was a ghost fire that had reverted to youth due to the loss of its power.

Shi Lan sighed. No wonder she insisted on killing him back then, and he didn't stop her even though he wanted to take her back. So that's why.

The scene flashed by in an instant, and Shi Lan's heart was filled with turmoil. Soon, her figure swayed, and she seemed to be in a daze for a moment. In the blink of an eye, she was in front of a brightly lit place.

Shi Lan cautiously surveyed her surroundings. Across the street, amidst a patch of green trees and red flowers, a brightly lit and elegantly decorated small building was visible. It was early autumn, and the leaves were covered in dew. The windows upstairs were wide open, and the sounds of people talking and laughing, along with faint music, drifted out from inside.

Shi Lan looked down at herself: an ordinary t-shirt, jeans, and a pair of worn-out canvas shoes that looked cheap. It seemed that the owner of this house had nothing to do with her.

Carrying the box in her hand, Shi Lan slipped into the shadows of the nearby flowerbed, closed her eyes, and tried to absorb as much useful information as possible.

The images flashed by rapidly, and half an hour later, she opened her eyes and gave a slight, bitter smile.

This time, she is an orphan burdened with huge debts. Her mother died early, and her father jumped off a building because of debts. Due to the drastic changes in her family, she dropped out of college in her freshman year and worked two jobs every day to support herself while also dealing with the demands of loan sharks.

Hefting the beautifully packaged box in her hand, Shi Lan felt a little uneasy, thinking about the time she had just spent.

There was no other way; as the saying goes, poverty makes one lose ambition. She was new here, and Haoze didn't even know where he was. She had to support herself until she could awaken his consciousness.

She cautiously looked at both sides of the road to make sure no cars were passing by, then ran across the road, sprinting all the way to the front door of the house.

She raised her hand and rang the doorbell. The music inside continued. Shi Lan waited quietly for a while, and when no one answered the door, she rang it again.

This time, the door was flung open, and a young woman in a bright red strapless fitted evening gown glared impatiently at Shi Lan. Seeing the box in her hand, she snorted and said discontentedly, "What time is it? You said it would be delivered at nine o'clock. Look at the time now!"

Shi Lan was startled. The cake in the refrigerated box was quite valuable. If this person didn't want it because it was going to be delivered late, she would have to pay for it. Her monthly salary wasn't even enough to buy half of this cake. Was she really going to be so unlucky right from the start?

"I'm sorry, ma'am, I know it's a bit late, but aren't cakes usually cut at 12 o'clock? This fruit ice cream cake doesn't keep well, so I came over later to make sure you get the freshest one," Shi Lan said with a smile, spouting nonsense without batting an eye.

The girl raised her already upturned eyes and glared at her. "Stop talking nonsense. I've already booked with another place. You can keep this one for yourself." With that, she slammed the door shut.

Shi Lan slumped her shoulders in frustration. After thinking for a moment, she rang the doorbell again.

This time, a handsome man opened the door. Shi Lan held up the box and said with the most pitiful expression she could muster, "Sir, I've delivered it as quickly as I could. If the other cake you ordered hasn't arrived, please accept this. This cake may seem insignificant to you, but it took me two months of hard work to make it worthwhile."

The man sized up the simply dressed Shi Lan, then suddenly turned his head and said inside, "Lisa, the cake has arrived."

"Okay, I understand," a woman's voice faintly replied from inside. Shi Lan recognized the voice as that of the woman who had previously turned her away.

The man reached out and took the box. Shi Lan politely thanked him and quickly handed him the form. Then, she reached into her pocket and realized that she had lost her pen sometime during the day.

Shi Lan frowned and thought for a moment. When she was crossing the road just now, she seemed to hear a crisp sound, but she thought it was a leaf or a pebble and didn't pay attention to it.

The man was very gentlemanly; he invited her to the entrance and went inside to find a pen to sign his name.

The room was filled with melodious music. Shi Lan looked around and had only one feeling: the place was incredibly wealthy.

The man walked out and, just as he reached the door, a tall, upright man patted him on the shoulder, lowered his head and said something to him. The man nodded with a smile and then walked towards Shi Lan.

Shi Lan stared intently at the man, or rather, at the back of the man.

I never expected that what I was looking for would come to me so easily. I never expected Haoze to appear here.

Shi Lan was so excited that her face turned bright red, and she didn't even notice when the man handed her the form.

The man raised an eyebrow at her, only to find that her gaze wasn't on him. Following her gaze, he saw his friend.

The man turned his head and looked Shi Lan up and down seriously, concluding that she was refreshing, clean, sweet and delicious, and then he felt like teasing her.

"Isn't he handsome?"

Shi Lan clenched her little fists, her big eyes narrowing into crescent moons. "Not bad."

The man chuckled, "Not bad, at least you can still stare."

"Should I call him over and introduce him to you?"

Surprises always come so suddenly. Shi Lan looked at the man with bright eyes and asked, "Is it okay?"

The man hadn't expected Shi Lan to be so frank. He coughed lightly, not wanting to lose face, and called out, "Yu Ze."

The figure seemed to be talking to someone, and after hearing the man's greeting, he said a few more words before coming over. "What is it?"
