Chapter 342 Awakening the Cold-Hearted Head of the Family (Thirteen)

Ning Yuze didn't even glance at her trying to please him, snorted, and continued to keep his face cold.

Shi Lan felt a lump in her throat. She was used to Haoze's gentleness and Moyun's kindness, and never thought that one day she would have to face the arrogant Ning Yuze.

He silently told himself not to get angry, and forced a smile, saying, "You don't need to lift a finger, I'll take care of it for you. You just need to open your mouth."

Ning Yuze glanced at her, then remained silent once more.

Shi Lan deftly peeled off the grape's skin, revealing the bright green flesh inside, and gently offered it to his lips, looking at him with a charming smile.

Ning Yuze looked down at it, then opened his mouth and took it in.

Soft lips gently touched her fingertips, and white teeth brushed against her skin, leaving only a damp, cool sensation.

Shi Lan was momentarily stunned, and the scene of Mo Yun nibbling at her like a puppy that night suddenly came to mind.

Shi Lan froze, not understanding why something that was already in the past was still lingering in her mind.

Ning Yuze swallowed the fruit and obediently opened his mouth, but the feeding he was waiting for never came.

Looking up, I saw that Shi Lan was absent-minded, her eyes wandering, her mind already wandering somewhere else.

Honestly, I don't know who said we were supposed to serve him, he's already slacking off after only feeding him one.

Ning Yuze slammed his hand on the keyboard. The person next to him was still in a daze, so he had no choice but to clear his throat and tap the table lightly with his long fingers.

The crisp 'thump thump' sound startled Shi Lan awake. Looking up, she met his disapproving gaze. Shi Lan smiled awkwardly, quickly peeled a grape, and this time, without waiting for him to eat it, rudely stuffed it into his mouth.

Ning Yuze frowned slightly, but did not refuse.

The two of them peeled and ate, and quickly finished the plate.

After cleaning up the fruit peels, Shi Lan paused for a moment and said, "I admit I lied to the butler back then, but that was because..."

"Why?" Ning Yuze stopped his busy fingers and looked up at her intently.

Shi Lan's heart pounded. The atmosphere and the scene made her extremely uncomfortable. But things had come to this point, and if she didn't give a believable reason, Ning Yuze would become suspicious and wouldn't let her get any closer. Thinking of the oblivious Haoze, she steeled herself and gritted her teeth, saying, "That's because I realized I fell in love with you at first sight, but you left without saying goodbye. I had no choice but to..."

"Stay there and wait for me?" Ning Yuze's lips curled up, then immediately straightened.

Shi Lan nodded with difficulty, feeling a surge of heat rising from her feet to the top of her head. She felt that nothing could be more difficult than confessing one's feelings face-to-face.

An undisguised smile spread across his eyes. Seeing Shi Lan, who looked as if she were facing her final verdict, he felt the same way he did a year ago when he gained control of the Ning family.

No, perhaps I'll be ten times, a hundred times happier than that day.

"The room next door has been empty. Pack it up and move in."

Shi Lan opened her eyes and looked at Ning Yuze, who had a cold face, not understanding what he meant.

Ning Yuze didn't even look at her, and got up and left the study.

Shi Lan tilted her head and thought for a while, feeling as if she understood a little bit.

She stayed in the rented room because she liked him and wanted to wait for him there. So, if he let her stay here, in a room on the third floor, does that mean he allows her to like him?

Shi Lan bit her lip and smiled quietly. What a proud and stubborn guy.

After dinner, Shi Lan made her bed, said goodnight to Ning Yuze, and obediently returned to her room.

Ning Yuze had some unfinished business, so he took his computer to his room. Just as he was about to go to sleep, he saw a window flashing in the corner of the computer.

Ning Yuze raised his long eyebrows slightly, opened the window, and saw a small figure sneaking to his room door in the dark corridor, as if he were a thief. He listened to the door for a while, and when he felt that there was no sound inside, he put his hand on the handle, as if he wanted to open the door.

Ning Yuze smiled silently, touched his lips, and recalled the kiss he had interrupted last night. His body moved automatically to the bedside and quickly lay down on the bed.

He waited quietly for a long time, until his body was stiff, but the person he expected did not come in.

Ning Yuze frowned, turned over and got up, turned on the computer hidden behind him, and found that the huge corridor was empty.

Ning Yuze refused to believe it and checked every area that the cameras in the entire house could cover. In the end, he had to access the memory to see that the person he was so eagerly waiting for had quietly slipped back into the house the moment he lay down on the bed.

Ning Yuze lay dejectedly on the bed. It turned out that he had been busy with nothing for the past half hour, and she was probably already asleep by now.

The next morning, Shi Lan knocked on the door with a refreshed expression.

Ning Yuze gritted his teeth, opened the door, and turned to sit down in the chair.

Shi Lan looked at Ning Yuze, who had a sour face, completely bewildered, wondering what she had done to offend him this time.

Ning Yuze patted the first-aid kit placed to the side and said, "Change my dressing."

Shi Lan responded and hurried over.

The bandage was wrapped around his entire waist. To avoid touching the wound, you had to wrap your arms around his waist and cross your hands from behind to remove the bandage. Shi Lan did the same thing yesterday, so he didn't think too much about it and just untied the knot and took off the bandage.

Ning Yuze watched her movements without saying a word, quietly opening the computer with his finger. When she finished applying the medicine and just finished bandaging, he lowered his eyes and looked down at her.

"Can you tell me why you're here at this time?"

Ning Yuze spoke in an extremely gentle tone, his warm breath ruffling the stray hairs on her forehead.

A tingling sensation shot up her scalp and down her spine, making Shi Lan shudder. She replied somewhat blankly.

"What?"

Ning Yuze turned the computer screen around, tapped a key, and the image froze. A figure she knew all too well was crouching furtively by the door, seemingly listening to something.

"Don't tell me this isn't you?"

Ning Yuze looked at the stunned face of the woman who was wrapped around his slender waist, only inches away from his chest, and said gently.

Shi Lan chuckled dryly, her mind blank, only to hear Ning Yuze's faint voice in her ear.

"Isn't this position uncomfortable?"

Shi Lan then realized that she had been in this position for a long time, with the man's scent surrounding her and unconsciously permeating her entire body.

Shi Lan hurriedly got up, her fingers nervously clutching her sleeve.

Ning Yuze tied up the loose bandages, straightened his body, and stared at her leisurely, clearly wanting an explanation.

Shi Lan's mind raced, and it took her a while to stammer, "It's getting chilly, and I remembered I should bring you a blanket tonight, so I came over."

Ning Yuze nodded. "Then why didn't you come?"

For some reason, Shi Lan felt that his voice sounded muffled, as if he was somewhat disappointed.

Shi Lan blinked, wondering if she had misheard.

"Then I remembered that there was central air conditioning in the room, and the temperature was constant, so I went back."

Ning Yuze's face darkened. So, he was just being delusional yesterday?
