Chapter 405 The Last and Final (Twenty-Two)

Shi Lan turned around and went back into the small shed, bringing out a small wine pot.

Haoze took a deep breath and felt his soul swaying, as if he were floating up.

“Good wine,” Haoze pointed and immediately conjured a set of stone table and chairs on the spot.

Shi Lan put down the wine pot, waited for him to sit down, and then filled his wine cup.

Haoze picked up his wine glass, took a deep breath, and the faint fishy smell brought by the mirage grass was neutralized by the other immortal herbs. As for the faint umami flavor mixed with the aroma of the wine, it made people's souls sway.

Haoze took a small sip, letting the wine slide in his mouth and slowly fall down his throat.

After a long while, he opened his eyes in admiration, revealing an expression of praise that defied words.

Shi Lan carefully observed his expression. Seeing that his eyes were clear, her heart skipped a beat. She wondered if even this wine couldn't make him drunk.

Haoze finished his drink and gestured for Shilan to pour him another.

Shi Lan was hoping he would drink a few more cups, so she wasn't stingy and quickly refilled his glass.

Haoze sipped slowly and carefully, and before he knew it, he had drunk two more cups.

Shi Lan was worried that he would drink too much and hurt himself. Seeing that he wanted more, she advised him, "This wine is strong. Just drink a little."

Haoze rested his elbow on the table, his hand supporting his chin, his starry eyes slightly narrowed, and his thin lips pursed, clearly displeased with Shi Lan's rejection.

However, he was now under the influence of alcohol, and his once sharp gaze was somewhat blurred by the alcohol. His thin lips, stained with wine, showed a hint of allure in the moonlight, completely lacking his former coldness.

Shi Lan couldn't help but recall the time when she and Zhu Yi were together, when he suddenly looked up, his lips also bearing the same water stains.

Thinking of that scene, Shi Lan's cheeks flushed, and she murmured, "If you really want to drink, then wait until tomorrow. Anyway, this wine is all yours, and I won't give it to anyone else."

Haoze closed his eyes slightly, and after a moment his breathing became long and deep.

Shi Lan didn't know if he had heard her final promise.

After waiting for a while, Haoze still didn't move. Shi Lan licked her lips and carefully moved closer to Haoze.

His breath, slightly scented with alcohol, brushed against her cheeks, causing a ripple of emotion to spread through her soul.

Slowly bringing it to her lips, Shi Lan tentatively stuck out her little tongue, quickly 'licked' it, and then quickly pulled away.

Haoze didn't move, but his lips seemed even more moist.

Shi Lan's cheeks flushed, and she slowly leaned closer.

Her delicate, clove-like tongue pried open his half-closed lips, carefully probing his teeth, attempting to awaken his long-dormant consciousness.

After a moment, or perhaps less than half a quarter of an hour, the soft, warm tongue moved slightly, and Shi Lan subconsciously withdrew her tongue, taking two steps back in alarm.

Turning around again, I saw Haoze open his eyes, his gaze clear and bright.

What's wrong with me?

Shi Lan was secretly pleased, her eyes unconsciously drifting to his brows.

The dark pattern, like a persistent evil spirit, silently mocked Shi Lan.

Shi Lan's eyes dimmed slightly, and she said indifferently, "My lord is not a good drinker and will take a short rest."

Haoze rubbed his temples, stood up and said, "It's getting late, you should rest early."

Shi Lan nodded, watching his retreating figure as he walked away, and sighed softly.

The next morning, after Haoze fully woke up from the effects of the alcohol, he rubbed his forehead in confusion and leaned lazily against the couch. For some reason, he felt very relaxed and comfortable, and the heaviness that used to weigh on his forehead was strangely much lighter.

Two light knocks came from outside the door.

Haoze frowned slightly and got up from the couch.

"Please come in."

The colorful fabric of her clothes peeked out from the open door. Haoze's eyes flashed, and he seemed to wonder when Lan'er had stopped liking the azure clouds and started to prefer the colorful sunset.

Jia Lan walked up to Hao Ze and saw that his eyes were glazed over. She couldn't help but cover her mouth and chuckle. "I wonder who was it that came to wake me up early yesterday to start cultivating. I got up early today, but the person who urged me to do so has become lazy instead."

Haoze gave a symbolic twitch at the corner of his mouth and said, "I thought about it yesterday. Since you don't like cultivation, there's no need to force yourself. Your body has become much stronger over the years. Cultivation techniques are certainly the icing on the cake, but if you don't cultivate, with the help of herbal medicine, it won't have much of an impact."

Upon hearing this, Jia Lan's eyes lit up. "Really?"

Haoze nodded, suppressing the strange feeling in his heart.

Jia Lan excitedly reached out to take his arm.

Haoze subconsciously reached out to straighten the hem of his robe, his long legs swaying as he rose from the couch.

Jia Lan's outstretched hand missed its mark, leaving her awkwardly listening to the air hanging in the air.

Haoze seemed oblivious, still adjusting his robe with a hand seal.

Jia Lan quickly withdrew her arm, pretending nothing had happened.

Haoze's eyes dimmed slightly. Back when he and Lan'er were still in the lower realm, he was rather dull. If Lan'er did something and he didn't realize it, she would jump up, grab him, and force him to do it again, making him understand that things should be done the way they should be.

Haoze's gaze inadvertently drifted towards Jia Lan. This appeasement approach was completely different from what he remembered.

After getting through the day, Haoze returned to the Hundred Herbs Garden late at night.

Dispelling the restrictions, Haoze stepped into the courtyard, looking at Shi Lan, who was not cultivating, with some surprise.

Shi Lan gave him a slight smile, then turned and went back to the shed to get the wine.

Haoze conjured up a table and chairs in perfect unison. When Shi Lan came out, he pointed to a seat and said, "Come sit with me for a while."

Shi Lan sat down beside him, poured him a drink, and watched him slowly drink it.

Pour it again, drink it again.

After pouring three cups, Shi Lan pressed down on the wine pot and said, "That's enough for today."

Haoze pointed to the wine glass and said, "Give me some more."
