Chapter 161 Picking Up the Little Succubus 21

Soon after, an alarm sounded over the Celt Magic Academy. The piercing alarm sounded like a death knell, intensifying everyone's fear.

To everyone's astonishment, a cloud of black mist appeared above the platform.

A demon emerged from the shadows.

"Good day, everyone." The voice could be heard before the person was seen.

Presumably due to the uniform attire of demons, he was also dressed in a black robe, with red, tattoo-like demonic markings on half of his face.

The piercing alarm sounded in stark contrast to his nonchalant demeanor.

It's unclear who started it, but the students began to scatter and run away in complete chaos.

But he had no interest in appreciating the scene; he went straight to Eldrek and said, “Long time no see, old man.”

Eldrek shielded the other teachers behind him, saying, "Morthos, you have broken the seal."

The demon, Morthos, sneered, "Thanks to you, I've figured out a lot of things."

"For example, force is the most effective method; for example, don't underestimate my opponent..."

Eldreik was one of the people who participated in sealing Morthos. At that time, he was a young teacher who had only been teaching at Celtic Magic Academy for two years.

When the war broke out, all the magicians of his generation rushed to the front lines. Some became victims of demons, while others were wounded in the war. He was lucky enough to survive and witness the victory.

"Morthos, the continent of Melia has been at peace for many years. Believe me, you don't want to know the consequences of disrupting that peace."

Morsos seemed to have heard the biggest joke in the world. "Peace? What peace? That bullshit peace treaty? But according to the treaty, you should have released me the moment you signed it! How come I'm only out a hundred years after the treaty was signed?"

Morthos pressed his scepter against Eldreik's neck. "Old man, tell me why this is."

Eldrek was speechless; it was indeed the humans who had breached the contract first.

Morthos didn't care about his reply. He turned to look at the students who hadn't run away from the stage. These students were all gripping their wands tightly. When they saw Morthos looking over, they stared at him warily as if he were a formidable enemy, ready to attack him with magic at the slightest movement.

"Are these your students?" Morsos observed their expressions with interest. "They seem very loyal."

With a wave of his scepter, Morthos made the students below feel as if a huge boulder was pressing down on them. They could not stand up, their legs trembled, and some almost fell to their knees.

The remaining people didn't last long either, and they all succumbed to the pressure and knelt on the ground.

The students looked humiliated, but Morsos laughed even harder. "How about this? A bunch of spineless cowards."

Eldrek glared at him, "You—"

"Calm down, Eldrek. If you fight me, these students will die too." He had probably had enough fun and suddenly withdrew his magic. "I came here today just to tell you that I, Morthos, have returned. You, all of you, all of humanity, will be my prisoners sooner or later. I advise you to surrender now to avoid wasting each other's time."

“Absolutely not!” Eldrek refused to allow himself to ever surrender. “Fight if you want, we will never back down.”

Morsos was satisfied. "I guessed you would give this answer, so I won't waste any more words."

He bowed politely, "The demon army will descend tonight, and we look forward to war with humanity."

After saying that, Morthos vanished from the spot.

...

Morthos's attack on Celtic Magic Academy, disregarding Ascaria's defenses, cast a shadow over the entire city.

The news of the outbreak of war spread throughout the city in less than an hour, and everyone was on edge.

Some capable but timid nobles are already packing their belongings to move to other cities, while those who intend to live and die with Ascaria are actively preparing potions and magical artifacts.

Ordinary people were the same; those who planned to flee began packing their belongings, while those who planned to stay began thinking about what they could do for the city.

When Eldrek gave this speech, he did not expect Morthos to come so quickly; it was almost as soon as he finished speaking.

Vivian watched the whole thing in a daze; she saw everything, yet she didn't want to have seen so much.

The demonic markings on Morthos's face were so conspicuous that she couldn't even deceive herself.

Ye Jiu leaned on Luo Ruian's shoulder, "Actually, I really want to live my school life in an ordinary way, instead of living such an exciting life."

Lorrian hugged her. "Life is full of uncertainties. Good and bad are both new life experiences."

"Do you think we'll win?" Joan's eyes were glazed over. The feeling of being forced to kneel down made her think she would be crushed to death on the spot. The vast difference in strength made her see no hope for this war.

"If we could defeat them before, we certainly can now. Ascaria hasn't been standing still for the past hundred years." Ye Jiu didn't believe that humans could lose.

Moreover, the human population far exceeds that of demons, so being a large population group naturally gives them an advantage.

Vivian snapped out of her daze upon hearing this, "Don't be discouraged before it even starts! Ye Jiu is right, if we could do it before, we certainly can do it now! We're clearly very good at winning against stronger opponents, and we're not weak now!"

"Let's go." Last night's and this morning's experiences had left Ye Jiu exhausted; all she wanted to do was sleep. But Morthos said he'd be here this afternoon…

Why can't we even wait until tomorrow?! Don't the villains on TV always say things like, "See you in the woods tomorrow night at 8 pm"?!

Ye Jiu yawned, "I need to catch up on some sleep first, then we can deal with the demon together."

Qiong's mouth dropped open. "My God, you can actually sleep? I was so nervous I was about to burst! This sense of urgency is making me completely confused." She couldn't help but grab Ye Jiu's shoulders. "Ye Jiu! This is war! The kind where people die!! We, all of us, including the teachers, could die this afternoon!"

Ye Jiu nodded heavily, "I know."

"You know you can still sleep?!"

Ye Jiu brushed her hand away, "That's precisely why I need to sleep. I need to conserve my energy to prepare for this fierce battle this afternoon."

Joan still found it unbelievable. "This is insane. Morsos said he's calling this afternoon, and your first thought is to go to sleep."

"Besides conserving my energy, there's nothing else I can do. Practice magic? What can I achieve in less than a few hours? Draw scrolls? Please, the only effective ones are attack scrolls, but I think you know how difficult they are to draw. Or make magical artifacts? That's even more troublesome and impossible."

Ye Jiu shrugged. "We can't improve our combat strength in a short time. We might as well get a good night's sleep and then be ready for battle."
