Chapter 162 Picking Up the Little Succubus 22

In the blink of an eye, only Vivian and Ed were left.

Vivian didn't know where to go, so she went to Clotita, but she and her teachers were discussing battle plans and had no time for her.

She wandered aimlessly down the corridor, looking out the window at the sky. She noticed that the weather had turned gloomy, with dark clouds pressing down on the sky. Vivian could almost feel a sense of suffocation through the window.

...

The entire faculty and students of Celt Magic Academy turned out, and the largest number of magicians gathered at the gates of Ascaria.

Vivian saw a barrier appear in the sky above Ascaria and tried to touch it, but Ed stopped her in time.

"Don't touch it, you'll get hurt."

Vivian obediently withdrew her hand.

She didn't see Ye Jiu, nor Qiong, nor even Simpra, nor anyone she knew. She mingled among the magicians, only thinking about following orders, doing whatever everyone else did.

Suddenly, magic exploded on the barrier, the "bang" sound stimulating Vivian's ears.

She looked up, and the barrier that the Ascalians revered as a god... was broken.

She saw the magical beam pierce through the barrier, seemingly heading straight for her entrance, and screamed. Vivian was still frozen in place.

Ed grabbed her and pulled her away. The magic pierced through the spot where Vivian had just been standing. Ed was still shaken and gripped her shoulders tightly. "Are you crazy?! You saw her coming and didn't move?! You almost died."

Oh, right, war, death.

Vivian snapped out of her daze. She could hear what Ed was saying, but she couldn't seem to understand it.

"We are experiencing war..."

The demon burst through the city gates, roaring and charging forward.

Vivian retreated while casting her spell.

She saw Morthos standing on the city wall, looking down at them all. She saw him standing in front of Eldreik again, their lips moving as if they were saying something.

Various spells exploded in the air, and fragments fell onto Vivian's face, cutting a wound. Blood flowed down her cheek, and dust filled the air, leaving Vivian's face no longer clean.

She probably never thought she could stop all the demons outside Ascaria from the beginning. When the city gate was breached, the people around her were not shocked. Instead, they calmed down and retreated step by step.

Until they were returned to Celtic Magic Academy.

She saw water stains on the ground, and she seemed to smell the scent of purified water. The moment the demon stepped on the water stains, her suspicions were confirmed.

Large numbers of demons were smeared with the purification water, which corroded them and made a "sizzling" sound. Some demons tried to rub themselves off the purification water on the ground, some cried out and begged them to let them go, and some even cut off their own feet that were smeared with the purification water. Blood was everywhere, but they still limped forward.

This land was stained with blood, and for the first time, Vivian felt so close to death.

To her horror, some demons were tortured by the purifying water until they were reduced to skeletons, which then turned to ashes and mixed into the ground beneath her feet.

The demons behind advanced by stepping on the corpses of the already dead demons. The demons that advanced were even more ruthless, and any that came into contact with the purified water immediately severed their own limbs.

Besides corpses, there were mostly limbs on the ground.

Vivian gagged.

Then three demons, clearly the leaders, joined the battle, giving the demons a more organized structure and a more strategic way of casting spells.

The magicians could not withstand the onslaught and were forced into retreat.

Vivian didn't know how far she had retreated; she only knew to mechanically cast spells.

Then she saw Professor Clotita step forward, and a huge magic circle appeared beneath her feet. Water elements surged towards the magic circle, eventually condensing into a giant wave.

"go."

The waves must have been mixed with purified water. The demons' wails gained the upper hand, but their joy didn't last long as the demons began to use defensive shields to resist.

However, the demon's advance was halted as a result.

Everyone was relieved, but Vivian saw Clotita's trembling, bleeding hands.

Blood dripped silently, and the magic circle beneath her feet shone even brighter.

Vivian thought of the sacrificial summoning circle. Her eyes widened, and she pushed through the crowd, rushing towards Colotita without regard for anything else.

But it was too late to stop it. An even more monstrous wave appeared behind her, carrying with it Clotita's determination to perish together with the demon.

Vivian's mind went blank, her head was empty. Had she seen wrong?

Ms. Clotita... was also swallowed by the giant wave...

After the giant wave subsided, she searched that land for any trace of Colotita, but found nothing? Nothing? Nothing?!

"Clotita...teacher?"

Yes, death was so close to her.

“What…can I do?” Vivian’s eyes went unfocused. “What can I do?”

As an average student, she seemed to have no redeeming qualities.

She saw Ye Jiu and Lorian fighting with the demon leader, who might be Kria, Losh, or Oran.

Morthos was stopped by Dean Eldrek.

Ms. Clotita... just disappeared before her eyes.

She also saw Teacher Aurora, whose potions were very effective in healing everyone's wounds. After the wounded recovered, they returned to the battlefield.

Vivian was so insignificant among these people. She was like a speck of dust, easily blown away by a gust of wind, or an ant struggling to survive, whose life could be easily ended once she was noticed.

"I...I don't want to die..." Tears streamed down her face, down to her chin, and then fell to the ground with her blood.

...

The once glorious Celtic Magic Academy was gone, reduced to ruins in just a few hours.

Vivian watched as Ye Jiu beheaded the demon, her gaze following Ye Jiu as she searched for the other two demons.

Vivian suddenly burst out laughing. Ye Jiu is really outstanding. As her good friend, shouldn't I stand up too? It would be too embarrassing to stand here and cry!

Vivian stood at the front of the crowd, waved her wand, and the gold element was mobilized by her. There were so many metals in the Celt Magic Academy, and these were all her weapons.

She chanted the spell "Arrowsshotatonce".

All sorts of metals shot out from the air, their sharp ends turned forward, shooting out like a rain of arrows.

Pierce through the demons' bodies, penetrate their hearts, and pierce their brains.

Such power felt foreign to her. She looked up at her hands. "High-level metal magic, she...did it."

She covered her mouth; if the timing hadn't been so inappropriate, she definitely would have screamed.

The ability I've always dreamed of has now come true in this kind of situation.

She smiled, and this strength gave her hope.

Her joy was short-lived, as the demons returned, but Vivian was no longer afraid.
