Zi Xi finally spoke up, revealing that she was already planning to go to Peking University with Jiang Yan.
"Who said it's all because of you? Q University's newly built fintech lab just happens to need consultants who understand both algorithms and economics, with a monthly salary of eight thousand. Want to join us?"
Jiang Yanli pulled a crumpled flyer from his pocket. He unfolded it, and the dean's personal seal was stamped in the lower right corner.
Zi Xi took the flyer and noticed that the back of it was a map of Q University's campus.
Someone circled two adjacent buildings in red pen: the School of Economics and Management and the School of Artificial Intelligence, and drew a crooked heart between them.
"Don't be so naive after you get to college."
She commented, but then folded the flyer and put it into the inner pocket of her backpack.
So, you're not angry anymore?
Jiang Yanli grinned, his canine teeth gleaming in the sunlight.
"I'm not angry."
Simple hypocrisy made Jiang Yanli's chest burn.
He took out his phone and sent a peace sign emoji and a message to the "Loving Family" group chat.
I'm one step closer to getting my marriage certificate.
Zi Xi looked up at the flock of pigeons flying across the blue sky and suddenly remembered the guide Jiang Yanli had given her at the press conference. It compared the advantages and disadvantages of the two schools, and the last line was: "But wherever you are, that is the best choice."
She's completely obsessed with love, disregarding her own future.
"Oh, by the way, my mom baked some cookies and insisted that I bring them to you."
Jiang Yanli took a paper bag out of her backpack.
"Please thank Auntie for me."
Zi Xi took the still-warm paper bag, its fragrance wafting towards her.
She remembered the taste; she had experienced low blood sugar and felt dizzy, so she slept on her desk for a while, and when she woke up, there were cookies with the same taste on her desk.
"No need to thank me, we're all family. Besides... there will be plenty of opportunities in the future. I made a little bear-shaped cookie, you can try it and see if it's good."
Jiang Yanli walked forward with her hands in her pockets.
The subtext of those words made Zi Xi's ears burn.
She opened the bag and looked down to find the bear-patterned cookies. She took a bite, and the sweet but not cloying taste spread across her tongue. This taste was even better than the ones made by her mother, Jiang Mu.
Did Jiang Yanli attend a culinary school?
Is it because he's the male lead that he can succeed at everything?
A sycamore leaf was blown down by the wind and landed gently on her shoulder.
Jiang Yanli reached out and brushed it away, her fingertips lingering on her shoulder line for a second before she withdrew her hand as if she had been burned.

On the third day after the scandal of the Chu family's daughter sleeping with clients broke out, the tax bureau received an anonymous email containing complete financial information about the Chu family's medium-sized enterprise for the past five years, including dual contracts, fraudulent transactions, and overseas money laundering records. The chain of evidence was so perfect that it was astonishing.
Chu Chenzhou sat on the hard bed, his finger unconsciously tapping the bed, as if calculating the time he had spent there.
The iron gate of the detention center was suddenly pulled open: "Chu Chenzhou, someone is visiting."
In the meeting room, Madam Chu was dressed in a plain-colored dress, her usual exquisite makeup replaced by a haggard look.
Just as Chu Chenzhou was about to speak, he saw tears rolling down his mother's face.
Mrs. Chu told him in a hoarse voice, "The tax bureau's investigation results are in, ten years... at least ten years..."
Chu Chenzhou felt a wave of dizziness: "Impossible! Where is our family's legal team?"
"The evidence is conclusive, but it's useless! All the family's assets have been frozen, even the villa is going to be auctioned off..."
Madam Chu interrupted him.
