Chapter 42 Reborn as a Dragon in the Zombie World (Thirteen)

Just as Long Xun, Yin Chen, and Milk Tea Mouse were taking turns comforting Po, the conference room door opened once again.

With the crisp, melodious, and rhythmic sound of her high heels clicking on the tiled floor, Sheila entered unbuttoned her white lab coat, revealing a black wool turtleneck sweater underneath. This accentuated her swan-like neck, and her long, straight legs were outlined in black trousers beneath her high breasts and slender waist. She walked in leisurely and sat down opposite Long Xun.

At first glance, it looks like Sheila and Long Xun are negotiating, with Po acting as the referee and Yin Chen as Long Xun's assistant.

"Mr. Po, Dr. Long, Brother Yin, Milk Tea, it's been a long time." Sheila greeted everyone one by one, her expression as flat and mechanical as ever, her azure eyes devoid of any intelligence.

No matter how beautiful a woman is, such a woman will make people feel genuinely uncomfortable.

“Hila.” Long Xun nodded slightly to her.

"Dr. Long, why did you try to stop Mr. Po from entering the laboratory?" Sheila asked.

Po remained silent, even though Xila's dismissive attitude, as if he were merely an object, ignited a sudden surge of anger within him, which he forcefully suppressed.

Long Xun said calmly, "Po is unwilling to enter the laboratory." If he were willing, Po wouldn't have kept hiding his identity all this time.

He concealed his identity precisely because he knew that revealing it would lead to his being taken away without any chance of resistance. Long Xun, on the other hand, exposed his identity without hesitation because his strength was so great that he could disregard everything.

Without this strength, Long Xun would have lived an ordinary life like any other person, without overthinking or seeking protection.

What kind of power one possesses, and what kind of responsibility one bears—that is Long Xun's thought.

Sheila couldn't understand this idea. She turned to Po and asked, "Why is Mr. Po unwilling?"

But isn't saving humanity the team's goal? So why, when it's the same idea of saving humanity, would Po rather kill his own kind of zombies than be a test subject to research a drug that can restore zombies?

Po retorted coldly, "Nobody wants to lie in the lab like a lamb to the slaughter."

Sheila shook her head and said, "The human test subjects in the base are all recruited."

“But they did it voluntarily,” Yin Chen couldn’t help but say. “If it wasn’t voluntary, don’t you think it’s too cruel to forcibly tie people to the lab table?”

Sheila paused for a moment, a hint of confusion flashing across her brow. She truly couldn't understand the human definition of cruelty, so she asked again, "But you didn't even ask the opinions of the zombies you captured."

“Zombies only have the instinct to eat raw meat; they have no consciousness or intelligence,” Long Xun said calmly.

Zombies are a form of destruction.

In the eyes of the dragon, all things in this world, whether gods, demons, monsters, spirits, flowers, trees, soil, rocks, mountains, rivers, or even the universe, are alive. They have their own life trajectories, and when their lives end, they will give back to nature and give birth to new life.

This is reincarnation.

But zombies don't have these things. They are not living beings, but merely walking objects. When zombies die, they do not decay or rot. They plunder anything that has life and assimilate it.

The other side of life is death, and things after death also have death energy. Death energy can also give birth to life, such as the dead, the wronged, the evil spirits and demons.

But zombies are not like those things. This kind of existence completely violates the laws of nature. They destroy everything, imprison the living beings, and refuse to give back to heaven and earth.

Such beings exist for destruction; they will destroy everything, ultimately destroying themselves and the world along with it.

In Long Xun's eyes, these things did not need his favor. It was only because they were human and had the potential to recover that Long Xun was unwilling to kill too many of them.

What's the point of experimenting on zombies who have no intelligence or reason and don't know what pain or emotion is?

As for the Soul, it is special; it possesses intelligence and reason. Although it is the same kind of thing as a zombie, it will not destroy indiscriminately.

He could certainly be considered a peculiar being.

Since we are living beings, we should be entitled to the two most basic things: 'living' and 'freedom'.

Sheila nodded and asked again, "So, Dr. Long, Mr. Po, and Brother Yin, you all disagree with conducting the experiment?"

Po remained silent, while Long Xun nodded and replied, "That's right."

"So, Mr. Po, are you willing to kill the zombies?" Sheila asked.

"Hmm." Po nodded slightly. He had always been fighting on the front lines against zombies.

Yin Chen sensed something was off and asked in return, "Sister Hilla, do you have some kind of plan?"

"Antibodies against the J virus have been developed. Experiments were conducted seven days ago, and the antibodies can completely prevent humans from being infected by the J virus," Sheila said calmly.

Even though Po had just been nearly dragged into the lab, he couldn't help but show an excited expression: "Are you telling the truth?"

"I have no reason to lie to you."

"That's great...that's wonderful...If Cameron and the others knew, they would be so happy!" Po Xi murmured to himself.

Long Xun lightly tapped the table with his fingertip. The crisp "tap" made Po stop talking. Milk Tea looked at the finger, jumped onto the table and hugged it. After Long Xun withdrew his hand, it hung in mid-air, making Yin Chen, who was listening from the side, reach out and hold it with some helplessness.
