Chapter 43 Reborn as a Dragon in the Zombie World (Part Fourteen)

When the lights went out, the people in the room were a little taken aback.

As the most important security base, without exception, all supply facilities at the J City base are carefully maintained and inspected. There are also many backup generators. It can be said that even if other security bases lose power, it is impossible for this base to lose power.

The impossible has now happened.

There was a commotion outside, but Long Xun, Po, Xila, and Yin Chen in the conference room remained silent, waiting for the call to come in. In the darkness, only the occasional sobbing of Po was the only sound.

Long Xun felt a small body climb up his arm to his shoulder and then into his collar. The fluffy touch was close to his neck, so he couldn't help but reach out and gently stroke its back fur to soothe Milk Tea.

Just then, Long Xun felt a warm breath close to his ear, and the breath spoke softly, almost in a whisper: "A-Xun... I feel something is wrong."

Warm breath brushed against his sensitive ear. Long Xun subconsciously turned his head and felt something warm and soft brush against his lips. Both of them were slightly startled.

After a moment, Long Xun calmly responded in a low voice, "Hmm?"

Yin Chen's hand, which was resting on the back of his chair, trembled slightly. This monster of his was supposed to have no heartbeat, but at this moment he felt his cold heart pounding wildly inside him.

But the person in front of him remained calm, and he struggled to suppress the urge to rush over and feel that warm, soft touch again, continuing in a low voice, "I want to go out and see..."

He had just heard hurried footsteps outside before the lights went out, and he instinctively felt that the footsteps were not right.

"Hmm." Long Xun responded softly, the presence that was so close at hand quietly receding.

Although Long Xun and Yin Chen were talking quietly, Xila and Po had good hearing and could hear them clearly. At this moment, neither of them spoke.

Yin Chen left quietly, but Long Xun remained in that slightly tilted-head position.

After a long while, he slowly raised his hand and gently placed it on his chest.

The heartbeat was steady and strong, one beat after another; if you listened carefully, you could even hear the thumping sound it made.

Then, the hand slowly moved upwards, paused for a moment, and then the cool fingertips gently touched the lips. The fingertips rubbed against the lips, and the skin-to-skin contact brought a subtle numbing pleasure.

His brow furrowed almost imperceptibly towards his brow for a moment, then quickly returned to its calm state.

After ten minutes of silence, the lights flickered a few times, and the light returned to the entire building. In the conference room, Po sat in his seat, having wiped away his tears. His beautiful and delicate face remained expressionless, but his red eyes and slightly red nose made him look somewhat pitiful.

Sheila remained standing there, still holding the conference room door open, as if she had lost power along with the building when the power went out. Only when the power came back on did she 'start up,' turning to look at Long Xun and saying in a flat tone, "Dr. Long, I need to check what happened. Would you like to come with me?"

Long Xun stood up, nodded slightly, and glanced at Po again: "You go back first."

“I’ll go too.” Po’s voice was still a little hoarse. He adjusted his voice slightly before continuing, “I don’t need to hide.”

"……what ever."

There's no time to argue with him right now.

As Xila, Long Xun, and Po came out of the conference room, they ran into Kamo and Mu Chunfeng, who were hurrying towards the base. They looked at Po with surprise, as if he had been bullied, but seeing that he was still unharmed, they breathed a slight sigh of relief and didn't have time to care about how he had been crying.

Mu Chunfeng's gentle smile had vanished, replaced by a worried expression on his handsome face as he said, "The entire security base just experienced a power outage. We came to check what happened in the research department."

They were also worried that Long Xun might start a fight with the research department at the slightest disagreement.

“The research building also just lost power.” Sheila turned around and led the way, saying, “Because the power supply system first supplies the research rooms in the research building, the entire security base will lose power. There is a 96.4% chance that the internal power supply system of the research rooms had a problem and affected the power supply to the control room, a 3.5% chance that it was a large-scale short circuit, and a 0.1% chance that someone pulled the switch out of boredom as a joke.”

The four people: "..."

Camer forced a smile: "Sheila, don't joke around at a time like this."

Long Xun remained silent. Hilla wasn't joking; that was truly her conclusion…

The closer you get to the research lab, the more people come and go. Faint noises come from inside the lab. Countless researchers stand blankly at the lab door. Some have empty expressions, some have even covered their faces and cried, and others are grabbing the collars of those around them like madmen, cursing incoherently.

“What on earth happened…” Camer muttered to himself, overheard by a scientist standing beside him, who seemed completely dumbfounded. The scientist let out a strange, chilling laugh, glanced at Camer with an empty, terrifying look, and muttered, “What… the J virus antibodies… are gone…”

"What did you say? J virus antibody?! It's been developed?!" Camer felt an overwhelming sense of surprise wash over him, so excited that he didn't know what to do with his hands and feet.

Mu Chunfeng noticed the last three words the scientist uttered, which sounded as light as smoke. After stopping Camer, he asked in a deep voice, "You said it's gone? What's gone?"
