Looking at Bei Chen's familiar face, his bright eyes brimming with smiles, Long Xun nodded slightly as if possessed.
"If you want to have fun, you have to listen to me."
"Alright." A cold voice rang out, signifying Long Xun's agreement.
Bei Chen smiled, stepped forward, and gently pulled the ribbon of the mask in his hand, placing the smiling mask on Long Xun's face. The exquisite mask concealed that overly handsome face. Although the man in the black robe still exuded an extraordinary air, he no longer possessed the captivating charm that could steal one's mind at first glance.
Since Long Xun had agreed, he stood there calmly and let him do as he pleased.
At that moment, they were so close that it felt like they were embracing.
"It looks pretty good, this way it won't be so conspicuous... Your Majesty, you can remove the Concealment Technique now." Bei Chen took two steps back, smiling as he looked at him, while simultaneously conjuring up another red-faced mask.
Long Xun's mask is white with gold patterns and has an elegant smile, making it very exquisite. However, his red-faced mask has an exaggerated smile that looks comical.
Amidst the surging crowd, unnoticed and silent, two figures, one in black and one in white, quietly appeared at a street corner. Passersby merely glanced at them, marveling slightly at their unusual bearing, before turning their gaze away and continuing on their way.
Long Xun ignored the stares of others, simply raising his hand to lightly touch the lips of the mask, then staring blankly at the unfinished sugar figurine in his hand.
His eyes, the only part of his face that was visible, revealed a thoughtful expression.
With his expressionless face hidden behind a mask, the Dragon God, who was always seen as heartless and emotionless by the gods and immortals, was actually more capable of conveying his emotions.
It's surprisingly...naive.
Bei Chen couldn't help but chuckle, tapping the wooden mask with his index finger, and said, "It was my oversight. How can you come to the Lantern Festival without eating?"
With a flick of his wrist, the lower half of the mask fell off, revealing his beautifully shaped thin lips and chin. The mask covered up to the tip of his nose, which was enough to conceal his features.
Long Xun glanced at him, then cut the mask in half, picked up the sugar figurine, and continued licking it meticulously.
Bei Chen looked at him with a smile, his eyes sparkling, as if he had seen something very interesting.
After licking a portion of the small sugar figurine, it began to melt. Long Xun put it in his mouth and crunched it down. The rich, sweet, and sticky aroma filled his mouth and tongue, as if even his breath tasted like sugar.
It's so sweet!
But it's gone.
Bei Chen watched with amusement as the man stared at the bare bamboo skewer. He knew perfectly well that the face beneath the mask was still that expressionless face that had once frightened countless gods and immortals, but he couldn't help but imagine the man frowning and wondering whether to eat another candy figurine.
And so Long Xun heard that melodious, clear laughter ringing in his ears once again.
He looked expressionlessly at Bei Chen, who was leaning against the wall, laughing so hard his body was shaking.
#His sense of humor is so weird#
After a while, Bei Chen stopped laughing, shook his head and said, "Your Majesty, if you want to eat, it's on me. Let's go, let's go, let's have some fun today!"
With that, the man, as clear and bright as a gentle breeze and a bright moon, gestured for them to proceed and walked towards the street.
Watching the excitement from the sidelines only makes one feel more lonely, but if you participate in the excitement, even the most mundane little thing can become very interesting.
Holding various snacks in their hands, Long Xun ate while looking at the lanterns hanging by the roadside. From time to time, Bei Chen would urge him to join the crowd and guess the lantern riddles.
If you guess correctly, you'll win applause from others; if you guess wrong, it doesn't matter.
Time flew by while we were playing around.
As darkness deepened, Long Xun and Bei Chen had unknowingly walked the entire street and arrived at the riverbank. On the stone bridge over the river, dashing young men waved folding fans, admiring the scenery and reciting poetry, while on the riverbank, groups of two or three women whispered softly, releasing river lanterns into the water to entrust their wishes.
When Long Xun and Bei Chen were guessing riddles, they each won two river lanterns and one Kongming lantern. It wasn't much, since they weren't very familiar with the history and writing of this mortal world. It was quite an achievement to guess a few correctly.
Bei Chen raised an eyebrow and said with a mischievous smile, "Your Majesty, don't you think it would be a waste not to put these river lanterns in the water?"
The activity of releasing river lanterns is actually done by women. The lanterns float downstream and are caught by men waiting downstream. Shy girls usually express their feelings to the people they like at this time.
Bei Chen is clearly taking advantage of Long Xun's naivety.
Long Xun, as expected, didn't understand this matter and nodded.
Then he witnessed his friend's inexplicable sense of humor once again.
As he squatted by the river, Long Xun sincerely said to Bei Chen, who was still chuckling, "Let's release them together."
Bei Chen: "..."
His smile froze on his face.
Even though Bei Chen was joking with Long Xun, the pressure from the Dragon God's cold voice was still immense, and he simply didn't have the courage to refuse.
Even if he knew he was being rejected, he wouldn't be angry, nor could he do it.
Releasing river lanterns together is actually a rare experience.
The river lanterns, drifting downstream, flickered on the water's surface. Some were overturned and submerged by a wave, while others made it downstream smoothly. Some lanterns were retrieved by men waiting on the bank, while others simply floated away.
The two river lanterns that Bei Chen and Long Xun released together remained side by side, drifting away close together. Even when they were sometimes knocked apart by other river lanterns, the two lanterns would gradually come together again soon afterward.
