Chapter 41 The Little Prince of the Sea (Part 15)

Louis felt that Sterling, Hilllow, and Jason were acting strangely today.

He had indeed been engrossed in the history of the merfolk and treasure hunting these past two days, but the storeroom full of gold and silver jewels and the entire castle's precious antiques were not enough to completely capture his attention.

His dear friends and servants, the sailors, were the complete opposites. While others were busy searching for treasure or repairing their ships, David and Charles were busy going out to sea all day long... Oh, I haven't seen those two since they went out yesterday.

Sterling, Hilllow, and Jason, the three of them, abandoned their habit of going out and wandering around the previous two days, and stayed in the castle with him to look at the remaining historical and cultural relics on the island.

They said they were just looking, but they weren't really that serious. The three of them would occasionally go upstairs, not like they were resting, and their expressions were very mysterious.

Jason laughed, and Hilllo laughed too. The strangest one was Uncle Sterling. He would fish in the outdoor pond, then carefully chop up the fish and bring it upstairs. He would also carry a bucket of water upstairs from time to time, and when he came down, the bucket would be empty. This older bachelor would even turn red in the ears.

Louis was a very observant man. Although he was curious and wanted to ask Sterling and the others what they were up to, he quickly realized that the three of them were deliberately avoiding him.

Moreover, he was the only one who discovered this; the servants and several other friends were completely unaware of what they were doing.

Driven by curiosity, Louis took advantage of the fact that the three were looking at the island map to leave through the door of the underground vault.

Sterling immediately noticed: "Your Highness, where are you going?"

Louis replied casually, "Go take a nap. Does your uncle need to rest too?"

Sterling turned back to her: "No, you've had a hard time these past two days, you should get some rest."

Louis walked toward Sterling's room on the third floor.

Between Jason and Sterling's rooms, Louis was more curious about Sterling's.

A gentleman would not enter a noble lady's room without permission, but entering the room of two male friends... quietly wouldn't be too impolite, would it?

The door was locked. It seems there is indeed a problem. Why would there be any need to lock such an old door lock?

Louis returned to his bedroom absentmindedly, but he quickly came up with a new idea, which might be impolite, but he was extremely curious.

He was such a curious person that once he set his mind on something, Louis would do everything he could to achieve it. He would never be deterred by any problem, and he firmly believed that there was no difficulty that could not be overcome.

Soon, he found an opportunity to hide in a corner. The next person to arrive on the third floor was Jason. Instead of going to his own bedroom, he headed towards Sterling's bedroom.

He was still holding the apples that the servants had found on the island.

Louis waited for him to enter, then rushed over just as he was about to close the door, blocking it with a hearty laugh: "Hey, my friend, what are you doing?"

Jason's pupils contracted, and he instinctively tried to close the door tightly to stop Louis from entering, but Louis had already wedged his feet and arms inside.

This is the protagonist of the world, a chosen one, the embodiment of destiny walking among humans, who under normal circumstances cannot be harmed by the mission takers.

"Open the door. I'd like to know why you came into Sterling's bedroom alone?"

Jason thought about it again and realized that it wouldn't really have much of an impact if he found out, but... for some reason, he felt a little uncomfortable.

He let go.

Louis had been wary of him, and when he saw that Louis had let him in, he breathed a sigh of relief, his tone slightly reproachful: "Is this your secret base? If you don't have a reasonable explanation, I'm going to get angry."

Jason quickly replied, "Relax, Your Highness. It's just that this matter is so astonishing that we were afraid you might be in danger, which is why we didn't tell you."

Louis stepped into the bedroom, a large guest room, but it looked no different from the bedrooms in the castle.

"Is this your secret?"

Just then, he heard the sound of water coming from the bathroom.

Louis glanced at Jason, and for some reason, he sensed something unusual in his expression. Holding his breath, he walked over.

The bathroom door wasn't closed. The first thing he saw when he entered was a mermaid with a human torso and a fish tail in the bathtub, curiously looking towards the door. It was that extremely eerie face that had appeared in his dreams every night for the past two days.

It is as beautiful as the demons described in scriptures, coming from hell, capable of transforming into what people most desire and cannot resist...

Louis held his breath for a moment, and then he felt that same feeling again that night. His head spun and his heart pounded harder.

He thought to himself: It's over. I really have been bewitched by the merman, just like in the sailor horror stories. My first relief is that I didn't fire the gun when it got dark that night.

On one hand, I felt a growing sense of vigilance, and on the other hand, I couldn't resist the urge to get closer.

He suppressed his wild, unrestrained thoughts and said, "Hello."

Qi Qi suppressed his excitement and the smugness of wanting to share it with the system, raised his chin at him, and smiled sweetly.

I like this human's expression.

His eyes were shining; he must have been seduced by me.

[Am I great?]

Qi Qi liked the human's expression. He looked clumsy and didn't seem as smart as Sterling, Hilllow, and Jason. They didn't seem like they would be bewitched by merfolk at all. In comparison, this prince seemed more likely to be pulled into the sea by merfolk.

What Qi Qi didn't know was that the mermaid's eyes were exactly the same as his peach blossom eyes. With such a face and eyes, he couldn't smile like that when "seducing" her.

However, the line between allure and cuteness is very thin. Whether he smiles or not, those who see him are already captivated by his smile.

Louis's heart pounded, and his face flushed as he leaned closer to him: "My name is Louis Alexander. Could you... tell me your name?"

He half-squatted in front of the bathtub, his last shred of sanity keeping him half a meter away from it.

The merman didn't speak; he just smiled adorably as he stretched out his snow-white arm from the side and offered it to Louis, opening it wide.

A piece of candy appeared in the palm of the hand.

Those smiling eyes seemed to be saying to him, "Here's some candy for you."

Foolish humans, you've eaten my candy, now come swim with me in the sea!

Louis clutched his chest, afraid that it would beat too fast and startle the merman in front of him when it jumped out.

...

Jason stood to the side, clenching his fists so tightly he felt like he was about to grind his teeth to powder.

He couldn't help but glare angrily at Louis.

Him?

She didn't even glance at me, but she smiled so sweetly at this big, dumb guy and even gave him the candy we gave you.

Why?

Just because he is the chosen one?

Idiot, do you know you almost got killed by him on the very first night?
