After leaving the third floor, Louis summoned Sterling and Hilllow and sternly condemned their behavior: "I trusted you so much, yet you deceived and misled your friends like this?"
Why did you keep the matter of the merfolk from me?
Sterling and Jason glanced at each other and said the same thing at the same time.
It was nothing more than a sincere admission of wrongdoing, followed by a detailed list of the "harm" that merfolk might pose to humans.
Louis was still a little angry: "Aren't you afraid? I care more about the loyalty of my friends than the danger. You know perfectly well that I'm very curious about merfolk."
Just as the passing servants thought the tense atmosphere was about to escalate into a fight, Sterling maintained his composed and elegant aristocratic demeanor, calmly saying:
"Your Highness, don't you think that you're already in that legendary danger?"
The group immediately understood what he was saying.
Louis now looked exactly like a young man experiencing his first love. His eyes darted around, filled with intense emotions, and a blush would occasionally appear on his face, which was even more noticeable against his pale skin.
Louis was about to say something to show that he was normal, but he was actually speechless after hearing those words.
Indeed, his mind was now filled with the image of the merman, every movement and every smile of the merman.
...Especially since the merman just smiled at him.
Moreover, the scorching heat emanating from the candy in his chest pocket kept his heart burning. Thinking of this, he became even more itchy and impatient to learn about the merfolk.
Unfortunately, Sterling firmly stopped this action.
The usually calm and aloof man said, "I can't be alone with him. Merfolk might use everything they have to hunt humans."
"Your Highness, don't forget the fleets that disappeared in the Sosia Sea before we came here."
...
That being said, the four of them still went to the bathroom together for dinner, and almost got into a conflict over who should feed the merman. After they were all stuck in their own opinions and couldn't reach an agreement, they decided to feed him together.
They say it's safer this way.
Louis inwardly complained about his uncle's rigidity and caution.
The merman lay alone in the bathtub, looking quite lonely. When he saw people coming, he seemed very happy. He only smiled at two people, Hillo and Louis.
Therefore, the two were deprived of the right to hand-feed the animals and could only stand aside and watch at most.
Qi Qi felt that the atmosphere was really strange.
He ate the fish that Sterling fed him, unaware of why the people next to him were staring at him with strange looks. Fortunately, he was thick-skinned and not afraid at all.
It won't hurt if they see me; they can't tell that I'm actually a robot.
Her long, thick, seaweed-like hair floated halfway in the bathtub, completely covering her upper body under the system's guidance.
Isn't she supposed to be alluring? How come she looks so cute?
...
The mission takers still failed to redeem the medicine to heal their throats tonight. The medicine costs 100 points, and the three of them only have 60 points in total for the day. Of the 30 points left over from yesterday, they now have 20 left.
We have to wait another day.
It's not that we haven't considered ambushing merfolk underwater, but the risks are too great, and the returns are disproportionate to the costs.
"The merman is very thirsty. We should put him in that pool; he'll be more comfortable that way."
Louis, who had been excited all night, came to Sterling's bedroom early in the morning and made the suggestion.
He carried a bucket on each side of his hands, pouring water from one bucket into the bathtub, and then using a cup to scoop up water from the other, cleaner bucket and feed it to the merman.
He ignored the fact that the merman had hands and insisted on feeding him. After feeding him one cup, the merman would tug at his clothes, indicating that he wanted more.
Louis wore a mysterious smile, thoroughly enjoying himself.
Sterling looked at him expressionlessly: "There's a secret passage in the pool; it should lead to the sea."
Louis immediately changed his tune: "The castle is too big, and there are too many dark secret passages. We might get lost."
Qi Qi raised an eyebrow, an expression that Louis immediately caught: "So cute... You can understand us?"
Qi Qi nodded and quickened his drinking pace.
The toxic algae that makes your voice hoarse is not the same as the toxic algae that makes you weak. It is not fatal. Theoretically, as long as you soak it in water and drink more water, you will recover in a few days.
He woke up this morning and found that he could make small sounds. He needed to drink more water and not let the mission takers find out, otherwise they would waste their 100 points and he needed to increase his chances of survival.
I feel like I'm getting smarter every single day!
Sterling noticed his action, lowered his eyes as if lost in thought: "You drank a lot of water."
This person is unbelievable.
Qi Qi buried his head in his water, pretending not to hear: "..."
Louis said, "He lives on the ocean, so isn't it normal for him to be short of water?"
Sterling and this patient with advanced obsession with appearance had nothing in common.
While he got up to wash up and before the others returned, Louis was about to introduce himself to the merman in more detail when a translucent, white hand suddenly landed on his arm.
The hand had slender fingers with a hint of pink at the knuckles and slightly long nails, making it appear delicate and weak as it rested on his arm.
Louis's heart raced, and his arms froze. He stared at the merman in that position. The merman drew near, the distance between them now only two hands' width apart. The impact of that face was even greater. Unlike the deep features of Westerners, the merman's face was full of a different kind of ethereal beauty.
