Chapter Nine: The President's Ex-Girlfriend in a Coma

Seeing that Han Lingxi hadn't replied to his text message, Gu Jingchen was worried that she was angry. He was just like a young boy in love, so insecure. "I just went to chat with my mom, I'm not angry."

"Then Xi'er should get some rest."

"Okay, you should get some rest too. Goodnight."

"Good night."

The next day, Han Lingxi came to the company with her parents. Although her father thought it was just to amuse her, he still arranged a director position for her and even set up an office for her overnight.

Mr. Han doesn't expect Han Lingxi to achieve anything; he just wants her to be happy. Han Lingxi is his only daughter, and he has doted on her since she was little. After the incident where Han Lingxi almost died in a car accident, he now only wants Han Lingxi to live well, and he doesn't ask for anything else.

Han Lingxi sat in her spacious office, feeling very satisfied. However, when she picked up the company's project documents, she realized that she had been too naive. She couldn't understand these documents at all, let alone see any problems with the company from them.

Feeling utterly hopeless from staring at the documents, Han Lingxi threw them all onto her desk and prepared to go for a walk, otherwise she would definitely go crazy.

"We have a new director, I heard she's the president's daughter, have you met her?"

"Didn't you see? Some people are born into wealth and can become directors whenever they want. Unlike us, we have to work hard to earn that little bit of salary."

Han Lingxi walked to the employee rest area and overheard two female employees gossiping about her.

She couldn't help but chuckle. Gossiping during work hours, no wonder you only earn that little salary.

Han Lingxi wasn't eavesdropping on purpose. She was just taking a walk and came here. She stood by the window to look at the scenery, and the view just happened to be blocked. The two female employees didn't see her when they came in. She heard them talking about her, and felt that it would be awkward for everyone to go out now, so she didn't go out.

"I wonder if the president of Shengyang will come today. The president of Shengyang is incredibly handsome."

"Yes, lately President Shengyang has been coming to our company to see President Han. Do you think he has something to ask of our president?"

"Who knows? It's all business stuff; it's not something we lowly employees could possibly know."

The two female employees chatted as they returned to their work area.

Han Lingxi couldn't help but wonder, what did Gu Jingchen want with her father?

Han Lingxi walked to the door of the president's office, wanting to ask her father, Gu Jingchen, what his purpose was in coming to the company.

Gu Jingchen pushed open the door and came out. The two looked at each other and didn't know how to speak for a moment.

"Achen, what brings you here to see your father?"

"Xi'er, what are you doing at the company?"

The two asked the question at the same time, and then fell silent for a moment.

"I've come to discuss business matters with Uncle Han."

Gu Jingchen replied.

"Oh, I wanted to come to the company to help my dad, but I found that I can't even understand the documents."

Han Lingxi said with a hint of helplessness.

Seeing her expression, Gu Jingchen couldn't help but walk over and pat her head, and his stern face disappeared.

"It's alright. Uncle Han should be very happy that you have this thought. You can learn slowly if you don't know how."

"I'm going to find Dad, you go and do your work too." "Go ahead, don't keep Uncle Han waiting."

Han Lingxi said goodbye to Gu Jingchen, then knocked on the door and entered her father's office.

"Xi'er, you're here."

Mr. Han put down the documents in his hand and wearily rubbed his forehead.

"Dad, you don't need to work so hard. You can just leave it to the people below."

Seeing her father looking exhausted, Han Lingxi felt a pang of sympathy and went behind him to massage his temples.

“These documents are very important, and I don’t trust anyone else to handle them.”

"Dad, I will definitely work hard to learn how to do my job well so that I can help you."

"Only in this way can the mission be completed," Han Lingxi silently added in her mind.

“You’re just a young girl, what kind of job do you need? Just be happy, go shopping with your friends, go on trips, don’t worry about the company, Dad can take care of you.”

"By the way, Dad, what did Ah Chen want to talk to you about?"

Han Lingxi remembered Gu Jingchen who had gone out and asked her father.

“Ah Chen wants to do a project, but he doesn’t have enough funds. He hopes that Dad can cooperate with him, but this project is too risky. If it fails, the entire Ya Cheng Company may be lost.”
