Chapter 2 The First Pot of Gold

1. Help Zhao Wei sell the turtles. Reward: [Car Driving Skills]!

2: Reject Zhao Wei, and receive a reward of 10,000 RMB in cash!

Talking to Gao Qiqiang didn't trigger the life choice system, but Zhao Wei did.

Tang Ping remembered that Zhao Wei was not an important character in the show.

However, this choice left Tang Ping somewhat conflicted.

Ten thousand yuan is not a small amount in this day and age, and it can be easily obtained by refusing Zhao Wei.

Tang Ping remembered a famous saying his father once said: "If it doesn't concern you, don't get involved."

However, Tang Ping never listened to his father.

So, without hesitation, he chose to help Zhao Wei, saying, "If I put it in my shop, the problem is I can't sell all of it, and besides, who would want to eat this stuff if they had nothing else to do?"

Zhao Wei pleaded, "Please do me a favor, buddy. I don't ask for much. I just need 1,000 yuan for shipping. You can keep whatever profit you make from the rest, okay?"

"I'll give it a try."

"That's great, I'll take it all off for you."

"Let's put it in the yard first."

With the two of them working together, a whole truckload of turtles was unloaded in no time, and the yard gate was piled high with them.

bite!

The host has acquired car driving skills!

"What are you doing?"

Just then, a middle-aged woman with dark skin and wearing an apron came out of the house. Looking at the water tanks all over the yard, she asked in puzzlement, "Aping, why are you bringing in so many turtles?"

This is Tang Ping's mother, Zhou Xiaofeng. Although she is not yet fifty, years of hard work have made her look more than ten years older than her peers.

"I didn't go in; I was just helping Ah Wei out."

Tang Ping buried himself in his work.

"Ah Ping, I'm leaving now, I have to rush to deliver the goods."

After moving the last box, Zhao Wei said goodbye and left in a hurry.

Looking at the dozens of boxes of turtles, Zhou Xiaofeng said anxiously, "Aping, turtles aren't as easy to sell as regular fish. You're helping Awei, what if you can't sell them?"

"It's okay, Mom. Zhao Wei said he only wants the cost price, and the rest is ours. We'll sell as much as we can. Oh, by the way, here's the groceries for tonight, Mom, I'm going out for a bit!"

Tang Ping threw the cleaned fish and meat into the kitchen, then carried a box of turtles onto the tricycle before heading out.

"What time are you coming home for dinner? This child..."

Zhou Xiaofeng chased after him, but Tang Ping was already gone.

Tang Ping rode his tricycle around the streets.

In 2000, Jinghai was still in its early stages of development. The streets were not bustling, but although small, it had everything it needed, with shops everywhere, including beauty salons, food stores, and hardware stores.

Tang Ping rode his bike around, looking at the surroundings. He had come out for two reasons: first, to investigate what other business opportunities he could start besides selling fish; and second, to see how to handle Zhao Wei's truckload of turtles.

"Jinghai Hotel?"

Suddenly, Tang Ping saw the eye-catching illuminated signboard and his eyes lit up.

This must be the highest-standard hotel in Jinghai.

These days, only wealthy people in big hotels can afford to eat soft-shelled turtle.

There were security guards at the hotel entrance. Someone dressed like Tang Ping, still smelling of fish, would definitely not be allowed in by the guards.

Tang Ping rolled his eyes and rode his bicycle to the back entrance of the hotel.

Sure enough, the hotel's kitchen was located near the staircase.

It's lunchtime, and the kitchen is bustling with activity, with chefs, vegetable cutters, and waiters all busy at work.

Tang Ping used a fishing net to catch two large turtles and walked over. Just as he poked his head in to look, a waiter carrying dishes came out and called out, "What are you doing?"

"Hey buddy, I'm a delivery guy. What do you think of these turtles? I'll give you a discount, are you interested?" Tang Ping said with a smile.

The waiter said impatiently, "No, no, our hotel has its own supply channels. This is the kitchen, you should leave now."

Undeterred, Tang Ping continued, "My turtles are fresh, and they're authentic Jiangzhe turtles—delicious and highly nutritious."

He had asked Zhao Wei, and he learned that this batch of soft-shelled turtles was brought all the way from Yuyao and was of very high value.

"I said no, get out of here right now, you hear me? Or I'll call security," the waiter said impatiently.

Tang Ping, feeling embarrassed, chuckled awkwardly and turned to leave.

"Hey, young man, wait a minute."

Suddenly, a chef in charge of cooking walked over from the kitchen, glanced at the turtle Tang Ping was carrying, and asked, "How much is this turtle?"

Tang Ping blinked and said, "30 yuan per jin. These two weigh a little over five jin, so I'll charge you five jin."

He weighed the two turtles before he came; they weighed at least five and a half pounds. The usual price for turtles at the market is at least 38 yuan per pound. He didn't expect to make much money on his first sale.

The head chef weighed the net in his hand: "It's quite a good deal. Xiao Wang, take it and kill it. Didn't the Rich Hall just order this dish? Tell the front desk that they have turtles."

As he spoke, the head chef handed the turtle to his apprentice.

Tang Ping was very grateful that it was done so easily: "Thank you, thank you!"

"No need to thank me, the hotel just happened to be out of stock. Go find Manager Sun in logistics to get the money, I'll put in a good word for him later."

"Okay, thank you!"

Tang Ping went back through the back door, but this time he walked through the front door without any hesitation.

"Hello sir, would you like a meal or lodging?"

"I'm looking for your Manager Sun."

"Oh, the logistics are over here."

In the office, Manager Sun, a middle-aged bald man, nodded after learning Tang Ping's purpose and said, "Old Li already told me, it's a total of one hundred and fifty, right?"
