Chapter 50 Captured

After not encountering any yaks for two consecutive days, Pingyang took the opportunity of a break to hold a brief meeting with everyone: "Perhaps the yaks still retain fragments of their past memories and avoid the highway. It's not too late to change our route now. How about we leave the highway here and head northwest? There are mountains to the south."

Everyone agreed to the plan.

Less than five kilometers after leaving the highway, we encountered a lone yak, leisurely swishing its tail to shoo away mosquitoes.

Pingyang gestured for them to surround the yak, and everyone dispersed. First, Yan controlled the yak's movements, and then colorful supernatural powers were thrown at the yak. With a shrill scream, the yak lost control of its body.

Jiang Shuyin did not participate in the entire battle before it ended.

Lin Miaomiao glanced at her sideways and smiled.

Gu Xiao reached out to the yak carcass and used his light-based ability to purify it. Lin Miaomiao had already begun to guard her food: "You can't eat for free if you didn't contribute anything earlier. Any crystal core is fine."

Jiang Shuyin smiled faintly: "Okay, I won't eat it."

She walked to the side, and suddenly her feet were suspended in mid-air. Had it collapsed?

A huge yak emerged from the ground. Jiang Shuyin quickly dodged and rolled several times on the spot.

The earth was still shaking, and the entire small plain had sunk. The yaks inside struggled out, shook off the clods of dirt, and charged towards the people.

There were no fewer than ten yaks, and it was difficult for the six of them to handle them. Jiang Shuying even knocked the stick off course before she could take down one.

Left with no other choice, she borrowed a knife from Pingyang.

The metal-type ability allows one to condense energy into a sharp blade. Pingyang quickly made her a sword, and the two of them worked together to cut down the relentlessly pursuing yak.

Jiang Shuyin jumped away, luring the monsters to the side to kill them. Unbeknownst to her, the yaks around her had already surrounded her.

"Confusion."

Black mist rose from the yaks' feet, like a group of yak immortals riding the clouds. The creatures in the mist devoured the yaks from their hooves to their bellies in just five minutes. Yaks that went beyond the range were killed one by one with her blade. The blade split open the skull, and the crystal cores inside were pulled to the ground by the force.

Jiang Shuyin gritted her teeth and persevered, letting Heimei continue to apply treatment to her.

After each swing of the knife, the radius bone felt like it was being shattered, a sharp, piercing pain, like a steel needle stabbing into the heart.

The illusion dissipated with the death of the yak, and shining crystal cores awaited collection within the white skull. Jiang Shu picked them up one by one and stuffed them into her canvas bag, letting Heimei take them and eat them herself.

"You solved all of these problems?" Yan had been keeping an eye on her.

"Hmm." Jiang Shu watched as he spent a considerable amount of time controlling the two yaks to collide, and then asked, "Why not let them both attack one?"

Yan paused for a moment, then remained silent, but another cow nearby joined the fight.

He Zong was playing with fire and accidentally set the grassland on fire. Jiang Shuyin chose to put out the fire instead of fighting the monster. Fortunately, there was no wind on the grassland at this time, so the fire did not spread quickly.

They chased the fire for several kilometers before finally extinguishing it completely.

Following the charred earth back, the meat was already being roasted. Jiang Shuyin, also craving meat, grabbed a crystal core from her canvas bag and handed it over: "How much meat can I get in exchange?"

Gu Xiao was also unsure: "Is it okay to eat three meals a day? All you can eat at each meal."

Jiang Shu nodded, swallowed the remaining quarter of the steamed bun with water, and waited in line for her share of the meat.

Gu Xiao's purification speed was not fast, and Jiang Shuyin waited for a long time. Pingyang helped to cut it with a knife. Each piece of meat weighed about three or four pounds. Jiang Shuyin ate it all and was still not full.

Lin Miaomiao: "You didn't do this on purpose, did you? Pingyang is already full after eating so much."

Pingyang scratched his head and said, "Actually, I wasn't full either."

Gu Xiao held Lin Miaomiao's hand: "I'll purify it again, don't make a fuss."

Jiang Shuyin felt she wouldn't be polite to them; she had paid for the crystal cores, and she wasn't about to deny it after paying.

However, she did put a few meat skewers into her storage compartment, intending to save them for her mother.

The night sky was as bright as the Milky Way, with countless stars shining together to light up the entire night sky. Jiang Shuyin took out the doll from the canvas bag and put it behind her head, then hugged the canvas bag to her chest.

With her eyes closed, Jiang Shuyin could clearly feel an energy approaching her, trying to cover her body. She opened her eyes, sat up, and looked at Yan Zhe.

[Yan Zhe: Survival stat of a psychic ability user: 6865; Output stat: 2644]

[Psychic abilities can control the thoughts and behaviors of living beings, create illusions, and detect the surrounding environment, expanding the range of which depends on the ability.]

After Yan was discovered, he still pretended to be asleep with his eyes closed. Jiang Shuyin didn't want to make a fuss, but if he made a move again, Jiang Shuyin would make him disappear.

In the morning, wash your face with a wet wipe, gulp down water in your mouth, and then swallow.

This was the seventh day after they got off the bus. They saw the lake, which was not as calm as a mirror. Waves surged from one side to the other. The lake was very large, and the water was blue with a hint of depth.

Pingyang was terrified: "Oh no, run!"

Jiang Shuyin turned and ran, but had to stop after only a few steps as a motorcycle appeared on the horizon and drove towards them.

She first transferred the crystal core from the canvas bag to the space clasp, then placed the black plum on the back of her neck, covering it with her hair, and retreated step by step towards the rocks behind her.

A ball of lightning the size of a basketball crashed down, smashing through the rocks. The flying debris cut small gashes on her arms and cheeks, which were filled with the seeping blood, turning them red.

Lin Miaomiao was so frightened that she hid behind someone. Gu Xiao was pushed in front of the middle-aged man with a scar between his eyebrows. Her face was pale and she looked pitiful. The middle-aged man looked at her with a half-smile, then walked around them. The people behind him tied up Pingyang, He Zong and Yan Zhe.
