Chapter 119

Shu Yun lowered her eyes. What good was being able to command the underworld officials when she watched her beloved leave her time and time again?

Just like their parents, Jiang Yan is the same.

She would never let that happen again. She would do everything in her power to protect Xie Fu. No matter what kind of rebellious nature she was or what the rules of heaven and earth might be, she would never let him lose her again.

As Shu Yun and Xiao Shu were walking back, Xie Fu, wearing a dark gold embroidered cloak, hurriedly returned from outside the mansion.

Xie Fu frowned slightly as he approached Shu Yun, took her hand, and found it wasn't as cold as he had imagined, which eased his expression somewhat.

He looked at her with a hint of helplessness, "I just went out for a bit and received the news that you were standing outside in the cold winter wind."

Shu Yun glanced behind him, trying to memorize the face, wondering who had gotten the information so quickly.

Xie Fu noticed her gaze, turned slightly to block her view, and leaned down to look at her, saying, "What's so interesting about them?"

Shu Yun curled the corners of her lips. "Hmm, not good-looking."

The guards behind them kept their eyes down, not looking up to see the couple's affectionate scene, and turned a deaf ear to the comments made by Miss Shuyun and the young master about their lovey-dovey behavior.

Xie Fu pulled Shu Yun into the house.

Winters in Xiliang are too cold. No matter how many layers you wear, you'll feel freezing cold all over in no time if you stand in the howling wind and snow.

Shu Yun tilted her head and asked Xie Fu, "Didn't you say you were going to the outskirts of the city? Has everything been resolved?"

Xie Fu shook his head. "Not yet. We received the news that you were standing in the cold wind outside the old man's house not long after we left the city gate."

Shu Yun was both amused and exasperated. "They really are..."

The two entered the house, and Xie Fu helped her untie the sash of her cloak, glancing at her and saying, "If I don't have someone keep a close eye on you, you won't care about your own body at all."

Shu Yun was speechless and choked with emotion.

Xie Fu had someone take out the charcoal brazier that had gone out and bring in a new one. He leaned down and kissed Shu Yun's eye. "I might be back a little late today. You don't need to wait for me to come back for dinner."

Shu Yun smiled and nodded in agreement.

Xie Fu looked at her, his sharp Adam's apple bobbing up and down, and couldn't help but lean over and kiss her again.

With a hoarse voice, he instructed again, "Don't stay outside for so long anymore, understand?"

After hearing Shu Yun's repeated assurances, Xie Fu left, turning back every few steps.

Where Shu Yun couldn't see, Xie Fu's expression suddenly turned cold.
