Chapter 119

Xiaoshu watched as his wife lifted the curtain and entered the old master's room.

The identity shifted too quickly; a female doctor with no background suddenly became a deity in the mouths of the Black and White Impermanence.

High Goddess, High Goddess, at least it has the word "God" in it, could she be a deity?

The old man's spirit looked at his lifeless body lying on the bed. He hadn't really believed in ghosts and spirits when he was alive, but now he had no choice but to believe.

"Can I still live?"

Shu Yun responded with a sound of affirmation.

The old man knew that based on Shu Yun's skill in cutting the chains and the fact that even the Black and White Impermanence dared not speak loudly, he was definitely no match for her.

But he still had to ask the questions he was supposed to ask. However, this time, he set aside his status as a prince of Xiliang and asked Shu Yun simply as Xie Fu's grandfather.

Why did you approach my grandson?

Shu Yun frankly stated, "Your grandson died in his previous life to save me."

The old man frowned: "In your past life... were you repaying a debt of gratitude?"

Shu Yun nodded, "You can understand it that way too."

The old man was silent for a while, probably recalling some things that happened to his grandson three years ago.

The Black and White Impermanence are renowned ghost soldiers in the underworld who collect people's souls. Given their status, their respect for Shu Yun suggests that Shu Yun, as a high-ranking deity, holds a high position.

Although she and her grandson were princes of Xiliang, compared to these ghosts and gods, they were just mortals in the end. What could she possibly want from them?

The old man asked a question on behalf of his grandson, "Do you really like my grandson?"

If it's just to repay a debt of gratitude, what will happen to his stubborn and single-minded grandson if one day she finds someone she likes and forgets about him?

While he was bedridden, he listened to his steward report to him every day how many battles his grandson had won, and he increasingly displayed the iron-willed spirit of the Xie family.

I also saw the portrait that the butler had secretly taken from the basement. The woman in the painting was stunningly beautiful and had a charming smile.

The fact that Xie's sons had also learned to be sentimental made him feel both disappointed and somewhat regretful.

The grandfather himself pushed away the girl his grandson loved.

Before Shu Yun disappeared, he told her about the marriage alliance with the Central Plains. He always believed that Shu Yun's sudden disappearance was because of this.

If she genuinely likes Xie Fu, that's fine. But if she's just repaying a debt of gratitude, he needs to know beforehand so he can prepare his grandson, who has already fallen for her, for the better.

Shu Yun glanced at the old man in front of her, whose gaze was burning, and nodded silently, "He really likes it."

The old master breathed a sigh of relief.

He looked Shu Yun up and down without any hesitation. As expected of a goddess, she was indeed very beautiful. No wonder his good-for-nothing grandson had fallen for her.

Shu Yunchao gently flicked his finger at the body that was growing cold on the bed, and golden light spots covered his entire body.

"Come back to your senses quickly."

When the spirit of the Xie family patriarch approached his physical body, he felt a tremendous suction force emanating from it.

He suddenly thought of something, turned around and looked at Shu Yun, and asked, "You didn't actually have to save me. No one knows you have this ability anyway, so why did you save me?"

Judging from what the two messengers, Black and White Impermanence, meant, forcibly keeping a mortal like him who had already lost his lifespan would likely cause her trouble.

Perhaps because he asked too many questions, a hint of impatience flashed across her face, but it was fleeting and barely noticeable. “You are Xie Fu’s only living relative in this life. If you die, he will become a person again.”

The old man's mouth moved as if he wanted to say something, but Shu Yun flicked her finger, and golden light flew out from her fingertip, pressing the old man's soul into his body.

In the last second before his soul was embedded into his body, the old man glanced at his "unsatisfactory" daughter-in-law.

Standing not far from the bed, she had a calm expression, neither sad nor happy, and her clear eyes held a subtle weariness.

It seems that she treats everyone the same way, except for her own grandson; she's indifferent and perfunctory when it doesn't concern her.

The old master closed his eyes peacefully in the golden light.

As long as my silly boy isn't just in love with me unrequitedly, that's fine.

Shu Yun looked at the old man on the bed with his skin dry and wrinkled. In this life, Xie Fu had finally found a family member who truly cared about him. How could she just watch his beloved grandfather pass away?

She only turned and left the room after the person on the bed started breathing again.

When Xiaoshu saw the Crown Princess come out, she quickly went up to her and asked anxiously, "How is it?"

Shu Yun had no idea what she was imagining, so she vaguely replied, "Not bad."

After the Crown Princess entered the room, Xiaoshu remembered that his Crown Princess seemed to be no ordinary person, but rather the incarnation of a demon.

Those illnesses that mortals cannot cure, perhaps our Crown Princess can cure.

Unable to hold back any longer, she asked Shu Yun, "Were there any underworld messengers just now?"

"Is it the messengers of the underworld coming to take the old master's soul?"

Otherwise, why would the Crown Princess say that?

Shu Yun didn't hide anything and nodded generously.

Xiaoshu covered her mouth, blinking her delicate, bright eyes.

Just now, the Crown Princess spoke two sentences to thin air: "Let him go" and "The Underworld should not interfere with this person's soul anymore." It was a completely commanding tone.

After a long while, she murmured, "Your Highness, you must be an extraordinary person, able to command even the underworld officials."

Shu Yun chuckled, rubbed her head, and said softly, "She's not anyone special, just a bit lucky."

Snowflakes drifted onto her long eyelashes, and Xiaoshu thought there was probably no one more beautiful than the Crown Princess in the world.
