Chapter 168 Gu Moli Knows (2/2)

"Zhou Siyun likes you. She felt that you and Xingran were close on the day of your brother and sister-in-law's wedding, and thought that Xingran was trying to steal you away. She was unhappy about this, so she hired people to kidnap Xiaoxue and Xingran, intending to take them away and ruin their reputations."

"If Xiaoxue hadn't insisted that I not tell Moting, worried that he'd be distracted since he just returned to the army, I would have called you guys already. Also, what's going on with you, you brat? You don't actually have feelings for Xingran, do you?"

“Let me tell you, you can’t do anything like that. Even though it’s still two months away, Xingran isn’t an adult yet! Aren’t you afraid your uncle will break your legs if he finds out? Your uncle treats Xingran like his own precious cabbage.”

When Gu Moli heard that Su Xingran had almost been kidnapped, he felt anxious and distressed. He wondered if Su Xingran had been frightened or injured anywhere.

"Mother, is Xingran alright? Was she frightened? Was she injured?" Gu Moli asked three questions in a row.

Liang Yun chuckled inwardly; she was truly speechless. If she still didn't know her son was infatuated, then she had wasted her fifty-odd years of life.

"Xingran got a little injured, fighting four people at once! She got punched near the corner of her mouth, leaving some bruises and swelling. And her hands are red and swollen from hitting people. I don't think she was scared, she probably didn't even get enough of a beating."

Liang Yun remembered what Taihe had said about the injuries of those thugs. Liang Yun felt a toothache; a seemingly gentle girl had beaten them almost to a pulp.

"Mo Li, can you take a beating? I'm afraid you won't be able to take it and will come home to me. Son, I can't take a beating either, so if you ever need anything, always come to me."

Gu Moli felt that his mother was acting strangely, saying things he couldn't understand. He only understood that Su Xingran was injured and must be in a lot of pain.

"Was Zhou Siyun arrested? Did my uncle and the others intervene? How was this matter resolved?"

"She's been arrested, and the case is closed now. Zhou Siyun was sentenced to three years and sent to a farm for forced labor. Your uncle dotes on Xingran so much, how could he not step in? With your uncle suppressing this matter, no one dares to help the Zhou family."

"When Zhou Siyun's mother went to the school to confront Xingran, your uncle went to the Zhou family that very night to warn her. Later, the two Du brothers lost their jobs, and now Du Shulan is hiding in the Zhou family like a quail."

"Mo Li, you still haven't answered your mother. Do you have feelings for Xing Ran? And your sister-in-law is also a victim. Why don't you ask her anything?"

Liang Yun thought to himself, "This brat only heard about Xingran's injury the whole time; he probably didn't hear anything else."

"Mother, you're overthinking it. Xingran is Uncle's apprentice, she's our little sister. And my sister-in-law has my brother's concern, so as long as she's safe and sound, that's all that matters."

Liang Yun rolled her eyes again. She was utterly delusional to believe this brat. His sister? He'd better think that way. If he ever did anything else, don't blame her, his own mother, for embarrassing him.

What family isn't related by blood? Why would a brother who's only met a few times be so attentive to a sister he's practically a stranger to? These men are just hypocritical, just like his two-faced father.

Su Xingran had no idea that someone was talking about her behind her back. Not long after, she received a letter she hadn't expected.
