Chapter 169 Su's Parents Arrive in Beijing (2/2)

"Alright, let's go over there. Your father, master, and your Uncle Duan are sitting there!" Zeng Huilan gently patted Su Xingran's back.

Su Xingran stepped out of her mother's embrace and took her hand as they walked into the main hall. Su Guomin looked at Su Xingran expectantly; they hadn't seen each other for over two months.

"Dad, you're here! I just got home from school. Master, Uncle Duan."

Su Xingran smiled as she looked at her father, who was staring at her intently. It was wonderful to see her parents again.

When Su Guomin heard his daughter calling him, he smiled and said, "Your father and mother just arrived too. Your Uncle Duan picked us up."

Huang Zhenhua pointed to the sofa, "Xingran, sit down and talk! Tomorrow is your birthday. You can tell us adults how you plan to spend it."

Su Xingran recalled her birthdays in the past, when her parents would cook a bowl of noodles with an egg in it. On some birthdays, in addition to egg noodles, there was also some pork.

"I haven't made any plans for how we'll spend it. We can just have a meal together. Mom, I want to eat your egg noodles tomorrow."

Zeng Huilan smiled knowingly. On Ranran's birthday, she and her husband would cook a long, unbroken noodle with an egg inside. Once the long noodle was cooked, it would fill a bowl, and she and her husband would wish their child health and longevity.

"Alright then, tomorrow we'll invite your Uncle Gu's family, as well as Taihe and Taizhou's families. We'll all have a meal together to celebrate your coming of age tomorrow."

Huang Zhenhua had originally planned to eat at a restaurant, but Su's mother had just suggested eating at home, and she would help cook, as Su Xingran liked home-cooked meals.

"Can we eat at home, Master? I'll help cook." Su Xingran felt there were already quite a few people, and Master might be planning to eat out. But she wanted to eat home-cooked meals; she wanted to celebrate her birthday at home, it would be warmer and feel more like home.

Huang Zhenhua shook his head and chuckled. "A mother really knows her daughter's heart. Huilan just said that Xingran likes to eat home-cooked meals."

Su Xingran smiled too, knowing why she longed for home-cooked meals. It was the home she had gone through countless hardships to return to, where her parents, whom she could never forget, resided, and where home-cooked meals were always the most comforting.

She knew why her parents had come; in her previous life, she hadn't had a coming-of-age birthday. In this life, she had overcome the hurdle of turning seventeen and ushered in a true rebirth.

That night, Su Guomin stayed in the guest room, while Zeng Huilan moved into Su Xingran's room. After washing up, the mother and daughter lay in bed, and Su Xingran snuggled into her mother's arms.

"Ranran, are you settling in well in Beijing? Are you settling in well at school?" Zeng Huilan asked, gently stroking Su Xingran's hair.

"Mom, I'm doing well. My master's family treats me very well, and so does Gu Moting's family. School is going well too; my classmates and roommates are all easy to get along with. Mom, how about you and Dad? Are you doing well at home?"

"That's good. As long as you're doing well, that's all that matters. Your father and mother are doing just fine, so focus on your studies and don't worry about us. Go to sleep now, you have to get up and get busy tomorrow!"

"Mmm!" Su Xingran mumbled a sleepy reply, then snuggled into her mother's arms and fell asleep.
