Chapter 174 Going on a Mission (2/2)

Gu Moli held his machete in defense, raising his hand to signal his teammates behind him to retreat. With several people so close together, they would be too large a target, making it difficult to dodge if the snake attacked.

His teammates understood and slowly retreated. Gu Moli had originally planned to go around the snake. But just as he took a few steps back, the snake raised its head, flicked its tongue, and swayed its body back and forth, then coiled up and shot towards Gu Moli.

Seeing the snake lashing out at him, Gu Moli immediately dodged to the side. He couldn't shoot it; the noise would alert the enemy. Gu Moli could only use his machete for defense and attack. Watching the snake continue its trajectory, he quickly followed, hacking at it with force.

The snake was cleaved in two by Gu Moli, and the two halves were still moving. Gu Moli raised the cleaver and chopped down at the snake's head, separating the head from the body. Gu Moli then chopped the lower half into several pieces.

Gu Moli dug a shallow pit with his machete and buried the snake, which he had chopped into several pieces, inside. Looking at the snake blood on his machete, Gu Moli rubbed it back and forth on the ground to wipe the blood off.

Gu Moli said to his teammates, "Everyone, be careful. We don't know what might be waiting for us on the road."

"Okay, we understand. Captain, are you alright?" Several teammates couldn't see clearly whether Gu Moli was injured.

Gu Moli shook his head. "I'm fine. Let's keep going. If you need anything to eat or drink, just let me know. We'll find a place to stop, rest, and take care of our needs before continuing."

The small group continued their journey, encountering various challenges along the way, but none of them could stop their progress. They walked for more than three hours through the jungle, but still found no trace of the enemy.

Exhausted and thirsty, Gu Moli found a spot without too many weeds and bushes. "Let's stop and rest for a while, have something to eat and some water."

Gu Moli took off his mask and took out a metal box from his backpack, which contained military-grade compressed biscuits. Gu Moli picked up a biscuit and ate it. After finishing the biscuit, he took out his military water bottle and drank a few sips of water.

After eating and drinking their fill, they rested for about twenty minutes before continuing on their way. About half an hour later, Gu Moli raised his hand to signal a stop.

Gu Moli discovered charcoal ash from burnt firewood and some waste paper used to hold food. "Everyone, be careful. Someone has stayed here. If we continue and encounter the enemy, everyone should coordinate according to our usual combat training and ensure your safety."

This time, the small team was on high alert, focusing intently on their guns as they walked forward. Gu Moli, holding a gun in one hand and a machete in the other, led the way.

They walked for two hours without finding any trace of anyone else, but even so, Gu Moli and his men dared not let their guard down. After walking for another ten minutes or so, they made a new discovery.

There were bloodstained tissues and several cigarette butts on the ground ahead. Seeing that the blood on the tissues wasn't completely dry, Gu Moli looked up and examined the surroundings.

They found traces of someone walking in the weeds on the left, and Gu Moli led his teammates to follow them. After walking for a while, they suddenly heard voices talking ahead.
