Seeing that Gu Moli was responding and even nodded, Shao Fei excitedly shouted to Doctor Qin, "Doctor Qin, Moli is responding! I'll feed him the pill now!"
The military doctor, Qin, was watching from the side, and his ears hurt from Shao Fei's loud voice. Oh well, this kid was just too excited. It's good that he's reacting; a reaction means there's still hope.
Gu Moli slightly parted his dry, pale lips, and Shao Fei took out a small pill and put it into Gu Moli's mouth. Gu Moli swallowed, but his mouth was so dry that he could only swallow it dry.
Shao Fei saw Gu Moli's throat move, knowing he had swallowed the pill. Shao Fei also knew Gu Moli's lips were very dry; Doctor Qin had said that Moli had lost too much blood and couldn't drink water.
A fire had been started, and Gu Moli was covered with many of his comrades' outer garments. The jungle was still quite cold and damp at this time. Everyone was too preoccupied with the immediate danger to worry about anything else; they just hoped Gu Moli could survive this ordeal.
Doctor Qin examined Gu Moli's abdominal wound and found that the bleeding had stopped. Doctor Qin cleaned and bandaged the wound. Gu Moli's condition had been difficult to manage earlier, but now he seemed to be doing better.
Gu Moli seemed to have recovered somewhat, and his mind was much clearer. He was even able to respond to Shao Fei's questions. Doctor Qin hadn't expected such a small pill to be so effective. He remembered that Gu Moli had been shot twice in the back.
Doctor Qin said to Shao Fei and the others, "Come over here and help me turn Mo Li over. I need to check the extent of the gunshot wound on his back and see if it's still bleeding."
Upon hearing Doctor Qin's instructions, Shao Fei and the others quickly gathered around to help turn Gu Moli's body over. Some stabilized the head, some stabilized the legs, some shone flashlights, and some helped stabilize the body and the clothes covering it.
Shao Fei and the others slowly moved Gu Moli, turning his body to one side, trying not to aggravate the knife wound in his abdomen. A comrade shone a flashlight on Gu Moli's back, while the military doctor, Qin, carefully examined the gunshot wound.
The two wounds were not far from the spine; fortunately, the bullets did not hit the bone. The clothes on his back were completely wet and stained with blood, and there was still a little blood oozing from the wounds, with some dirt or something similar on them.
Doctor Qin took the disinfectant and cotton. "Mo Li, the wound on your back is covered in dirt and grime. I'm going to clean and disinfect it now, and then remove the bullet."
"The bullet in your abdomen can't be removed here; you'll need to go back to the operating room to have it taken out. The two in your back are easier to remove; I'll remove them for you now. Just bear with it; I'll have your comrade get a towel to stuff in your mouth."
"Hold Mo Li down and don't let him move too much. I need to help him remove the two bullets from his back."
Upon hearing the order, Shao Fei and the others immediately sprang into action, finding a towel in Gu Moli's backpack, cutting it into a square, and stuffing it into his mouth. Those holding him down firmly prevented Gu Moli from moving around in pain.
Two comrades used flashlights to illuminate the area for Dr. Qin, who then cut open the clothes around Gu Moting's wound, put on gloves, and used disinfectant to clean the wound, removing all the dirt.
The medic, Qin, disinfected the scalpel and tweezers with alcohol. When the cold scalpel cut through the flesh, Gu Moli's body trembled uncontrollably. After cutting through some flesh, the medic used the tweezers to grasp the bullet's tail and pulled it out forcefully.
The first bullet was removed. Qin, the military doctor, cleaned the wound with disinfectant and poured some of the medicine powder that Shao Fei had given him onto it. The bleeding wound quickly stopped.
