It was Sunday, and Su Xingran came to the pharmacy to help out as usual. Uncle Li had gone out to see patients, so only Aunt Li was there to look after the pharmacy.
There were several patients waiting for Uncle Li to return for his treatment at the pharmacy. Su Xingran was capable of treating patients, but no one believed she was such a young girl. Su Xingran wouldn't force her way in and promote her medical skills.
Su Xingran remembered she needed to buy something, and the pharmacy wasn't far away. "Aunt Li, I'm going out to buy some things. Is there anything I can help you with?"
Aunt Li stopped what she was doing. "Xingran, there's nothing I need to buy. Be careful when you go out alone."
"Aunt Li, I understand. I'll be careful. I'll be right back after I finish shopping. I'm leaving now." Su Xingran said and walked towards the door.
Su Xingran is always quick to act. She went to the department store and bought what she needed. After shopping, she rushed back to the pharmacy without lingering for even a second longer.
When Su Xingran rushed back to the pharmacy, the street in front was crowded with people. Aunt Li tried to squeeze in but couldn't. Seeing this, Su Xingran quickly went over to help Aunt Li, afraid she would be knocked over.
Feeling someone supporting her, Aunt Li turned around and asked, "Xingran, you're back! Have you bought everything?"
"Aunt Li, I've bought everything. What's going on here? Why are so many people gathered around?"
As soon as this was mentioned, Aunt Li became anxious, "Xingran, someone has fainted here, I want to go in and see, but I can't squeeze in."
Hearing that someone had fainted, Su Xingran frowned as she looked at the crowd gathered around. With a doctor's compassion in her heart, Su Xingran pulled Aunt Li away and went over herself.
"Make way, everyone make way! I'm a student from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine at Peking University. Let me in and take a look," Su Xingran shouted, urging the onlookers to move aside.
Su Xingran squeezed her way in and finally found an elderly man lying motionless on the ground. She approached, knelt down, and checked his nose, finding a faint breath. She touched his heart; it had stopped beating.
"You all need to spread out and let the air circulate," Su Xingran shouted, raising her voice.
Aunt Li was also shouting outside, "Scatter quickly, someone's going to die! My child is a medical student, listen to her, scatter quickly!"
When the onlookers saw Aunt Li, most of them recognized her as someone who worked at the pharmacy. They all began to disperse and move aside.
Su Xingran knelt on the ground, lifted the old man's head to a straight position, and checked his mouth for any foreign objects. After doing this, Su Xingran prepared to perform CPR.
A young boy ran over, knelt on the ground, and called out "Grandpa!" Su Xingran ignored him and immediately began CPR. "Stop calling out, do you understand? Blow air into your grandpa's mouth."
The boy looked up, bewildered, at the girl who was squeezing her great-grandfather's chest with both hands. Su Xingran shouted, "Open your grandfather's mouth, and blow air into it. Hurry up and follow my instructions."
The boy immediately realized what was happening and acted according to Su Xingran's instructions. Working together, the old man's heartbeat quickly returned to normal.
"Does your grandfather have a heart condition?" Su Xingran asked the boy next to her.
"Yes, Grandpa has heart disease. He usually carries his medication, but he forgot to bring it today," the boy said anxiously to Su Xingran.
Su Xingran took the backpack off her shoulder, took out a metal box from it, opened it, and put a small pill into the old man's mouth.
The onlookers were astonished by Su Xingran's actions: pressing on people's chests and blowing air into their mouths. These were things they had never heard of or seen before.
After taking the pills, the old man's complexion gradually returned to normal. With a few soft coughs, he slowly opened his eyes.
