The boy shouted excitedly, "Grandpa, you're finally awake! You almost scared me to death!"
Upon seeing the elderly man wake up, the onlookers began to discuss among themselves. They were amazed by the young girl's exceptional medical skills.
The old man looked at his grandson and smiled slightly. "It's alright, Grandpa is fine, you don't need to worry. Grandpa just came by to see if any old friends were still around."
“Grandpa, this girl saved you,” the boy said, pointing to Su Xingran.
The old man turned to look at Su Xingran, "Thank you, young lady. Without you, I'm afraid I would have died here today."
Su Xingran shook her head. "Grandpa, you don't need to be so polite. This is what I should do. I'm a medical student, so you could call me a barefoot doctor! I have a medical license." Su Xingran took out her license.
Su Xingran said this to avoid unnecessary trouble. She frequented pharmacies, and who knew if someone would report her for practicing medicine without a license, which would implicate the pharmacy.
"Grandpa, let us help you up and let you go inside the pharmacy to rest for a while," Su Xingran said, pointing to the Huang family pharmacy.
The old man followed Su Xingran's hand and looked over. "Young lady, what is your relationship with the owner of this pharmacy?"
Su Xingran recalled what the old man had said earlier—that he was passing by to visit an old friend. Su Xingran had a feeling that the old friend the old man was referring to might be her master.
“I am his apprentice and he is my master. Grandpa knows your master, right?” Su Xingran asked the old man.
The old man smiled and said, "Yes, I know your master. I never expected him to take on such a good apprentice. If she were here, she would be very happy. After waiting for so long, she has finally found a girl."
"Oh my! Old Xiao, it's you! I couldn't squeeze in and didn't see you at all," Aunt Li said in surprise as she walked over.
The old man, referred to as Lao Xiao, looked at Aunt Li and said, "It's me. I brought my grandson out for a walk. I thought Zhenhua was back and wanted to see if he was at the pharmacy. I didn't expect that this accident would happen as soon as we got to this street and even entered the door."
Aunt Li said to Su Xingran, "Xingran helped Grandpa Xiao into the pharmacy so he could rest there for a while."
Su Xingran and the boy helped Grandpa Xiao into the pharmacy. Aunt Li found a reclining chair for Grandpa Xiao to lie down and rest.
Su Xingran poured a glass of water for Grandpa Xiao and the boy. "Grandpa Xiao, you can't be without your medication in this condition. When you go out, try to have someone with you and keep them in sight, because no one can guarantee that there won't be any unexpected situations."
“Okay, I’ll be more careful in the future. The little girl doesn’t know your name yet. My surname is Xiao and my name is Xiao Zhanguo. This boy is my grandson, Xiao Luxuan.”
Su Xingran looked at Xiao Luxuan and felt that he looked familiar. It was as if she had seen him somewhere before, but she couldn't remember where.
"Grandpa Xiao, my name is Su Xingran. You can call me Xingran. Comrade Xiao Luxuan, you can call me Comrade Su or Comrade Su Xingran."
Su Xingran felt that Xiao Luxuan was about the same age as her, so calling him "comrade" would be more appropriate.
The Xiao family grandfather and grandson rested at the pharmacy for about an hour. Worried that their families would be concerned if they didn't go home soon, they decided to head home first. Before leaving, Xiao Zhanguo told Su Xingran to visit the Xiao family with her master when she had time.
After the grandfather and granddaughter left the pharmacy, Xiao Xue's face suddenly flashed through Su Xingran's mind. She remembered that Xiao Luxuan looked somewhat like her sister-in-law, Xiao Xue.
Su Xingran was unaware that the news of her saving someone that day had already spread among the onlookers. Everyone was saying that Huang's Pharmacy had a young female doctor who could bring the dying back to life. Later, Su Xingran was so busy at the pharmacy that she didn't even have time to eat a hot meal.
