Chapter 191 Gu Moli Confirms His Feelings (1/2)

Gu Moli sat by the window in his room, looking up at the twinkling stars in the sky. He felt his emotions were somewhat out of control, and he would involuntarily think of Su Xingran in his spare time.

From a young age, Gu Moli had a close relationship with his uncle Huang Zhenhua and aunt Gu Qingxiao. The couple doted on Gu Moli, and Gu Moli respected and loved them very much. Gu Moli thought that he paid special attention to Su Xingran because Su Xingran was his uncle's apprentice.

Gu Moli remembered that his childhood friend Zhou Sitao had invited him out for lunch earlier that day. The story began when Zhou Sitao came to the Gu family home.

The Gu and Zhou families are longtime friends. Gu Moli and Zhou Sitao are childhood friends. Zhou Sitao is Zhou Siyun's older brother, but their personalities are worlds apart. Zhou Sitao is like his father, Zhou Renli, who is upright and polite, while Zhou Siyun is like her mother, Du Shulan, who is domineering and unreasonable.

Zhou Siyun hired someone to try and ruin Xiao Xue and Su Xingran's relationship. Knowing they were in the wrong, the Zhou family, led by their patriarch, went to apologize after Zhou Siyun was sentenced. The Gu and Huang families stated that this was a personal matter and would not affect their family relationships.

Zhou Sitao wrote to Gu Moli, explaining that his sister's actions were due to their family's failure to properly discipline and restrain her. Everyone in the Zhou family, except for his own mother, knew that Zhou Siyun had brought this upon herself, harming both herself and others.

Gu Moli was reading in the living room when Hu Ma walked in with Zhou Sitao. Gu Moli looked up and saw Zhou Sitao. "Why are you here? How did you know I was back?"

Zhou Sitao often visited the Gu family before Gu Moli joined the army, and he sat down on the sofa without any ceremony. "You have the nerve to say that? You came back and didn't even ask me to get together. If someone hadn't seen you riding your bike on the street the other day, and that person hadn't told me I wouldn't have known you were back."

"What's wrong? The army let you come back safely. Did something happen to you or were you injured?" Zhou Sitao asked with a serious expression.

Gu Moli smiled and said, "You're still the same person who can think of everything. You were injured and are currently recovering."

When Zhou Sitao heard that Gu Moli was injured, he asked her with some concern, "You weren't just slightly injured, were you? For the army to let you come back to recuperate, you must have been seriously injured. Sigh, you need to be more careful in the future. I don't want to lose my childhood friend like you."

"How are you recovering now? Can we still go out for a meal together?" Zhou Sitao hadn't expected Gu Moli to be injured before he came, since the person told him that they saw Gu Moli riding a bicycle on the street.

Gu Moli nodded. "I'm recovering quite well and can go out to eat. It's just that I eat a rather bland diet and there are some foods I can't eat for the time being."

Upon hearing that they could go out, Zhou Sitao quickly said, "Okay, let's go to the place we've been before. I have something I want to tell you, and I'm feeling a bit down."

Gu Moli and Zhou Sitao rode their bicycles into an alley. Zhou Sitao knocked on a door a few times, and a man's voice came from inside, "Who's knocking?"

Zhou Sitao responded to the person inside the door, "Uncle Zhang, it's me, Zhou Sitao, and Mo Li."

Hearing Zhou Sitao's words, the person inside opened the door. An elderly man, over sixty years old, smiled at Gu Moli and Zhou Sitao. "Oh, it's you two lads! Come in!"

Gu Moli and Zhou Sitao pushed their bicycles inside. It was a courtyard house, and they entered through a side gate. Actually, it was a hidden restaurant; the Zhang family used to run one. Later, the political movement started, and the restaurant had to close. However, most people in Beijing liked the Zhang family's food, and someone gave them advice. The customers were mostly old acquaintances, and they only served them.
