Chapter 194 Xiao Bolin Leaves (1/2)

The next day, Li Mei got up, made breakfast, and went to call Xiao Bolin to eat. Li Mei knocked on the door several times but no one answered. She called out several more times, but still no one responded.

Li Mei found it strange. Even if he was sound asleep, he should have heard her knocking and calling. Li Mei pushed the door open, and although it was Dingyu's uncle inside, he was still a man, so Li Mei didn't want to just barge in.

Li Mei went back to her room. Xiao Dingyu was still sleeping. She went over and nudged him. "Dingyu, I've made breakfast. I went to Xiaoyu's room and knocked on the door, calling for his uncle, but there was no response. I pushed the door open, and it was open. Get up and go see what's going on."

Xiao Dingyu vaguely heard what Li Mei said, and he suddenly opened his eyes. Xiao Dingyu threw off the covers, got out of bed, put on his shoes, and walked out of the room. He went into Xiao Yu's room.

The room was empty, and the blankets on the bed were neatly folded. Xiao Bolin was not in the room, and even his luggage bag was gone.

Xiao Dingyu walked into the room and looked around. There was a bag on the cabinet. He went over and picked it up; underneath it was a letter.

Li Mei followed him into the room, but Xiao Bolin was nowhere to be seen. "Dingyu, what happened? Where did my uncle go?"

Xiao Dingyu turned to Li Mei with the letter in his hand and said, "My uncle has left, leaving behind a bag of things and a letter."

The couple remained silent until Xiao Dingyu finally broke the silence. "Wife, let's go sit in the living room and see what my brother-in-law said. I'll take that bag of things with me."

Xiao Dingyu and Li Mei sat on the sofa in the living room. Xiao Dingyu opened the letter. "Dingyu, please forgive your uncle for coming uninvited and for leaving without saying goodbye. Your uncle overheard your conversation. I didn't mean to eavesdrop; I just went out to get a glass of water and heard it."

“Dingyu, your uncle never expected that you would keep this to yourself for over twenty years. Our Xiao family has let down our eldest sister and you. We, as her younger brother, failed to protect her, and we, as her uncle, failed to protect our nephew. I found out about Xiaoxue by accident and discovered that she looks a lot like my youngest son, and even more like your late grandmother.”

“I suspected that Xiaoxue was your child, so I investigated Xiaoxue’s information and learned your name and location from it. When I got your information and saw the ID photo, I recognized you at a glance.”

“Dingyu, your uncle knows you can’t forgive the old man’s actions. Your uncle has never thought of asking you to forgive him either. Your uncle and eldest uncle disagree with the old man’s actions and also resent him. They resent him for marrying a vicious woman, for not seeking justice for his daughter, and for causing your eldest sister’s death and forcing you to leave for a distant place.”

“But the old man is, after all, the father of my younger and older uncles, and we can’t just ignore him. My younger and older uncles have always felt guilty for not being able to come back in time to support my older sister and save her. My younger and older uncles can’t kill that beast, but we haven’t let him off easy either.”

“My eldest uncle and I broke his legs and drove that vicious woman the old man married out of the house. But none of that could bring my eldest sister back to life. Dingyu, your uncle doesn’t ask for your forgiveness. Your uncle only hopes that you will live a good life and that after the old man is gone, you can come back and acknowledge me and your eldest uncle.”
