Chapter 214 Su Xingran and Xiao Xue meet Xiao Dingyu (2/2)

Unable to eat any more, Su Xingran quickly spoke up to stop Liang Yun. "Aunt Gu, I'm full and can't eat anymore. You three elders should eat more."

Xiao Xue couldn't eat anymore, so she quickly said to her mother-in-law, "Mother, I'm full too. You and Father can eat more." Xiao Xue looked at Xiao Dingyu and said, "Father, you should eat more vegetables too. I'm really full."

Gu Junru gently kicked Liang Yun under the table. He was helpless too, seeing the two children's bowls piled up like a small mountain. His wife, looking distressed, kept trying to put more food on his plate.

Gu Junru thought to himself, "This isn't feeding people; it looks more like forcing ducks in the countryside." Besides, wouldn't this scare Xingran so much that she wouldn't dare come again?

Seeing the expressions on the two children's faces, Liang Yun thought to herself, "It seems...it seems like I've fed them a little too much. Okay! Then I won't feed them anymore, otherwise it won't be good for them to overeat."

Xiao Dingyu watched the interactions at the dinner table, a smile playing on his lips. It was wonderful; his Xiaoxue was doing well in the Gu family home, and Aunt Yun was taking care of her like her own daughter. This put his mind at ease; he and his wife had been somewhat worried about their daughter being so far away.

After dinner, the five of them sat in the living room chatting. Gu Moyue didn't come home tonight. She wouldn't be able to go home until tomorrow afternoon.

Xiao Dingyu said to Su Xingran, "Xingran, Uncle Dingyu thanks you for saving Xiaoxue. It's Xiaoxue's good fortune to have a sister like you."

"Uncle Dingyu will treat you and your master to a simple meal tomorrow. I'm going back the day after tomorrow. I came in a hurry and didn't have time to visit your parents or ask them if they have anything for you. If you have anything for your parents, you can give it to Uncle Dingyu to take back to them."

Su Xingran guessed that Uncle Dingyu had come because of that matter. "Uncle Dingyu, you don't need to be so polite. I'll talk to my master when I get back tonight. If it's convenient for you, Uncle Dingyu, I'll prepare some things for you to take back to my parents."

Xiao Dingyu said, "It's convenient. Xingran, just prepare it and bring it to me tomorrow. I'll find some time to send it to your parents when I get home."

Xiao Dingyu recalled what Uncle Zhilun had said: Huang Junyi's female apprentice had saved General Xiao. She knew Xiao Dingxuan, who looked remarkably like Xiaoxue. Xiaoxue had written back asking him if he had encountered someone in the capital who resembled her. And some people were even shocked upon seeing her face.

Xiao Dingyu thought for a moment and then asked Su Xingran, "Xingran, do you know about Uncle Dingyu's matter?"

Everyone in the living room was looking at Su Xingran. Except for Xiao Xue, who didn't know what Xiao Dingyu was talking about, Gu Junru and Liang Yun probably did.

Su Xingran's lips twitched. Well, it seems the Xiao family has already come knocking. It must be Xiao Luxuan's father, Xiao Bolin's second brother.

Su Xingran didn't hide anything, "Well, I know a little bit! The first time I saw Xiao Luxuan, I thought he looked familiar, and later I realized he looked a lot like Sister-in-law Xiaoxue. I went back and mentioned it to my master, and he said that Uncle Dingyu, you might be that grandson of the Xiao family who disappeared more than 20 years ago."

“Master wasn’t entirely sure either, since he saw Uncle Dingyu when you were a child. As for me being certain, it was because I discovered that Xiao Bolin, the second brother of the Xiao family, was waiting at the school gate, and he kept looking at Sister-in-law Xiaoxue’s face.”
