Chapter 225 The Su Couple's Doubts (1/2)

After eating and drinking her fill, Su Xingran told her parents that the two large bags of luggage contained New Year's items from her master's family and the Gu family, which she had been asked to bring back. Originally, her master had planned to mail them back, but he was worried that the snow in the village would make the roads difficult to navigate, and by the time they arrived, the New Year would be over, leaving the items still at the post office.

Actually, Su Xingran's storage space could hold the items, but she couldn't easily explain where they went. So she simply left them on the train and brought them back. Huang Taihe saw Su Xingran off on the train and helped her put her luggage away before leaving.

Su Guomin and Zeng Huilan exchanged a glance, feeling somewhat puzzled. The Huang family prepared gifts for Ranran to bring back, which could be attributed to Ranran being Uncle Huang's apprentice; they treated Ranran like family.

But why did the Gu family also prepare things to bring back? Last time Xiao Dingyu returned from the capital, he brought back clothes and shoes that Ranran had prepared for the couple, but he also brought back things that the Gu family had prepared.

The Su couple remembered that when they went to celebrate Ranran's birthday, the Gu family had also prepared gifts for her to bring back. The more they thought about it, the more uneasy they felt. Why would they do this for no reason?

When Xiao Dingyu returned, he brought back things prepared by the Gu family, but Su Xingran didn't know about it at first. She only found out later when Su Guomin wrote to her and asked about it.

Zeng Huilan thought for a moment and then asked Su Xingran, "Ranran, do you have a good relationship with Xiaoxue's in-laws, the Gu family? This is the third time you've brought things home for her."

Su Xingran currently has no intention of dating, but she's not stupid; she's gotten a bit used to things. Every time she sees her, she's met with Aunt Gu's overly enthusiastic greetings that almost overwhelm her, her constant attempts to give her things under various pretexts, and then there's Gu Moli, who sends her a letter every now and then.

Knowing her parents were worried about her, Su Xingran understood that she was indebted to them. She couldn't stop Liang Yun's enthusiasm, and she couldn't return the gifts she'd bought. Besides, the gifts hadn't even passed through her hands; it was only when her older brother Taihe took her to the train station that he told her the Gu family had prepared gifts for her to take back.

Su Xingran calmly said to Zeng Huilan, "Mother, Aunt Gu is a very warm-hearted person. Last time Uncle Dingyu went to Beijing, Sister Xiaoxue was beaten, and I saved her."

Su Guomin and Zeng Huilan were very surprised. When Xiao Dingyu came to their house to deliver things last time, he didn't mention this at all. Ranran had never mentioned it either, and they didn't know anything about it.

Su Guomin asked Su Xingran, "Ranran, what happened? Are you hurt? Why didn't you tell your parents about this? Is Xiaoxue seriously injured? Is the security situation in Beijing that bad? How could someone beat up a young girl?"

Su Xingran explained the situation, "Father, Mother, don't worry, I'm not injured. Sister-in-law Xiaoxue suffered some minor injuries; it's not due to poor security, but rather someone's deliberate revenge."

Su Xingran recounted the events involving Xiao Dingyu and the Wei family. Since it was all published in the newspapers, there was nothing she couldn't say.

Su Guomin and Zeng Huilan were stunned. They thought their own family and the Su family's family were chaotic enough. They never expected that Xiao Dingyu's family was even more chaotic and serious. It must have been tough for Xiao Dingyu when he was only a teenager.

Knowing that the Gu family did this because their daughter saved Xiaoxue, the Su couple felt relieved. However, they still felt they couldn't accept any more offers of help from other families.

Zeng Huilan held Su Xingran's hand and said, "Ranran, even if the Gu family wants to repay their debt of gratitude, they should have done so by now. These days, material things are precious. Even if they are rich and have nothing to lack, we can't just take their things anymore."
