Chapter 232 Leaving a Letter (2/2)

The dean looked at Shen Qiu, who hadn't spoken, and thought for a moment before saying, "It was Comrade Su Xingran who came to me to apply. At first, I refused her, but she insisted on applying. Later, I approved her application."

"Director Shen, Comrade Su Xingran anticipated that you would come to see me. When I saw her off last night, she left you a letter. I'm giving it to you so you can take it back and read it."

The dean took a letter from his drawer and handed it to Shen Qiu. Shen Qiu took the letter, didn't speak to the dean, and turned to leave. The dean touched his nose. He was in the wrong, wasn't he? Who told him to help keep it from Shen Qiu? It was Shen Qiu's fault for not wanting to talk to him. The dean thought Shen Qiu would scold him!

Shen Qiu returned to the consultation room. There were no patients at this time. Shen Qiu took out the letter that Su Xingran had left for her from the pocket of her white coat and opened it to read.

“Aunt Shen, it was wrong of Xingran to keep this from you. All of this was Xingran’s own choice. As a disciple of Master and Mistress, Xingran will naturally follow in their footsteps and carry on their will. I hope Aunt Shen will take care of herself. Xingran stays here.”

Shen Qiu read the letter over and over again, finally folding it up and putting it back in the drawer. At this point, this was all she could do; she could only hope the child would return safely.

Sitting in the back of the car, Su Xingran felt a little uncomfortable as the vehicle swayed and rocked. She took a small tin box from her pocket, took out a pill, and popped it into her mouth. The sweet and sour taste suppressed the discomfort, and Su Xingran's furrowed brows relaxed slightly.

The female doctor next to her seemed to be feeling the same way. Although Su Xingran couldn't see her expression, she could hear the doctor's nausea and vomiting.

Not wanting to disturb others, Su Xingran gently patted the female doctor next to her. "Comrade, are you feeling a bit carsick? I have some small pills made from orange peel that can help relieve this. Would you like them?"

The female doctor next to her was feeling really unwell at that moment. In the dimly lit carriage, and on a rough road, the car was swaying and making her feel dizzy, nauseous, and wanting to vomit.

Upon hearing Su Xingran's words, the female doctor said softly, "Thank you for your concern, young comrade. Please give me one; I'm feeling really unwell right now."

Su Xingran opened the box and took out two pills. She nudged the female doctor with her hand, signaling her to hold out her hand. The female doctor took the pills Su Xingran gave her and put them in her mouth. The sweet and sour taste really made her feel much better.

Afraid of disturbing the other doctors' rest, Su Xingran and the female doctor did not go in to talk. It wasn't until the car stopped somewhere that everyone got out to get some fresh air and have breakfast.

To avoid attracting attention and causing unnecessary panic, they took back roads. They didn't sit down for a hot breakfast; they ate steamed buns with warm water.

Su Xingran tore a piece off a steamed bun and put it in her mouth to chew. She didn't have a good appetite; after finishing one bun, she only needed some water. The female doctor next to her was pale and, like Su Xingran, didn't eat much.

The female doctor looked at Su Xingran's young face and asked, "Young comrade, you look very young. You should still be in school. How come you're in the army?"

Su Xingran knew the other party meant well, so she explained her situation. "Comrade, I am an intern at the hospital. Because of my elders in the family, I am skilled in treating external injuries, and I volunteered to come here."

The female doctor didn't inquire further; she was simply curious why this young man, who looked so young, had been assigned to the team. There are many capable people in this world; one shouldn't assume someone lacks experience just because they are young. The female doctor thought this young man seemed very composed.
