Chapter 233 The Counterattack in Self-Defense Begins (2/2)

Huang Ma finally understood why a television had appeared in the house the day after Xingran disappeared. She also finally knew where Su Xingran had gone. Huang Ma went outside to the yard, prayed to the heavens, and begged for Su Xingran's safe return.

Huang Taihe returned intending to discuss the self-defense counterattack with Huang Zhenhua. However, he overheard news that Su Xingran had gone to the front lines as a military doctor.

Huang Taihe looked at Huang Zhenhua and said, "Father, did you send Xingran? Father, the battlefield is so cruel! She's so young, aren't you afraid something might happen to her?"

Looking at his excited eldest son, Huang Zhenhua said, "It wasn't me who asked Xingran to go. I only found out the day after she left. She applied to participate without telling me, and she left without letting me know. It was Huang's mother who found Xingran's bicycle at home the next day, but she wasn't there, and the front door was still closed from the inside."

"Xingran probably left in the middle of the night, through the side door, which was locked from the outside. She left me a letter. Like your mother, no one can stop her from doing what she wants."

Huang Taihe was speechless. What could he say? The troops had already left for the front lines. The war had begun, and now all he could do was complete his mission and return safely.

As the Chinese troops continued to capture key locations, the battlefield shifted repeatedly. Su Xingran and her group of medical personnel followed the troops, going wherever they went.

Ten days have passed since the start of the war, and in those ten days, Su Xingran has treated many soldiers. Some soldiers were seriously wounded and had to leave the battlefield, while others with minor injuries were treated and returned to the battlefield to continue fighting.

The wounded soldier brought in this time was one that Su Xingran recognized; he was Deng Jianjun's son, Deng Chenhui. Su Xingran hadn't expected it to be him, and she hadn't intended for him to know her identity.

Deng Chenhui's wounds were knife cuts, on his upper back and arms. Su Xingran saw that the wounds were too deep and wide open, so they had to be stitched up.

Wearing a mask and hat, Su Xingran and Deng Chenhui, who were dizzy and in pain from blood loss, did not recognize the doctor in front of them as the girl they had met once and who was on their mind.

Su Xingran stopped the bleeding from Deng Chenhui's wound. Once the bleeding stopped, she cleaned and disinfected the wound. Su Xingran then administered anesthesia to Deng Chenhui and used the prepared surgical needles and sutures to stitch up the wound.

Su Xingran remained silent throughout, her hands moving incessantly. Deng Chenhui felt the needle pierce his flesh and tighten the thread; the anesthetic slowly wore off, and pain returned. His body trembled slightly, and fine beads of sweat appeared on his forehead.

Su Xingran noticed and said, "Don't move." The anesthetic wore off, so Su Xingran could only use silver needles to stimulate acupoints to achieve the same effect.

Su Xingran's "Don't move" sounded somewhat familiar to Deng Chenhui, who was in excruciating pain. Before he could even process what was happening, he felt a tingling sensation throughout his body.

With the last stitch threaded and knotted, Su Xingran finished her sewing work. Without lingering, she packed up her things and prepared for the next task.

When Deng Chenhui was taken to the nurses' assembly area, he remembered the doctor's words, "Don't move." He felt like he had heard that voice somewhere before, but he couldn't quite place it.

During her free time, Su Xingran drank some water and popped a throat lozenge into her mouth to soothe her throat. Su Xingran's throat had been sore for several days, and her voice was also a little hoarse.
