On the eighth day of the self-defense counterattack, Su Xingran applied to replace the frontline medics with other military doctors and went to the front lines. Previously, Su Xingran had served as a logistics personnel, treating wounded soldiers coming from the front lines; now, Su Xingran was directly facing the front lines.
Amidst a hail of bullets and the roar of artillery fire, the pungent smell of gunpowder filled the air. Su Xingran and two military medics hid in a concealed location, ready to provide emergency treatment to any wounded soldiers in need.
Su Xingran was the only doctor who went to the front lines without formal training. However, her professionalism was no less than that of a formally trained military medic. While undertaking missions in the small world, Su Xingran experienced battlefield life firsthand as required by those missions.
After her rebirth, Su Xingran disciplined herself to train her body and practice martial arts, and at her age, she was at the peak of her energy and physical strength. On the battlefield, Su Xingran carried out her duties as a doctor in an orderly manner.
Su Xingran noticed a soldier had fallen to the ground ahead, and a nearby soldier reached out to help him up, but bullets flew towards them. The soldier who reached out was nearly hit; his back was to Su Xingran. For some reason, Su Xingran felt that this back view overlapped with the back view of another soldier.
Without giving it much thought, Su Xingran prepared to treat the fallen soldier. Seeing that the firepower had lessened, Su Xingran, carrying her medical backpack, crawled quickly forward on the ground. Reaching the fallen soldier, Su Xingran quickly examined him.
Su Xingran looked at the soldier lying on the ground with his eyes closed, a bloody hole near his heart on the left side. She reached out to check his pulse and listened to his heart. Su Xingran's eyes instantly reddened; she had no chance to save him.
This was the first soldier to die before her eyes after she went to the front lines. Su Xingran lay on the ground and raised her hand in a military salute. She had no time to grieve here; war has always been cruel and merciless.
Su Xingran composed herself and prepared to leave when a loud crash came from in front of her. Sensing danger, Su Xingran quickly covered her head with her hands and lay flat on the ground, motionless.
A deafening roar was followed by a cloud of dust. Su Xingran was far enough away to escape injury, though she looked a bit disheveled, covered in flying dirt. Taking advantage of the smoke, Su Xingran quickly got up and left to find shelter.
The other soldier who had tried to help the fallen soldier had dodged the gunfire and returned to his original position. Watching the medic walk away from his comrade, a thought lingered in his mind.
The soldier looked at his lifeless comrade, his eyes red, saluted, and turned to continue fighting forward.
At the height of the battle, Su Xingran and another military medic were providing first aid to a soldier. The soldier had been injured by the shockwave from an artillery shell, and blood was gushing from his wound.
Su Xingran gave the soldier a quick-acting life-saving pill, used silver needles to prick his acupoints to help stop the bleeding, and poured more than half a bottle of hemostatic powder onto the wound. The bleeding slowly stopped, and Su Xingran and another military doctor quickly treated and bandaged the wound. Logistics personnel carried the wounded soldier away on a stretcher.
No one expected that a Vietnamese man with a gun would appear behind Su Xingran and another military doctor. His clothes were tattered, and he was wounded. According to the Geneva Convention, military hospitals and medical personnel are in a neutral position. Regardless of nationality, they should be treated with care on the battlefield.
But this man from Yue clearly didn't respect the treaty. He picked up his gun, aimed it at the military doctor next to Su Xingran, and pulled the trigger.
